I was watching a video that summed up the feeling I was getting from this game. This game in large part plays the gamer, not the gamer playing the game. All the cool looking stuff is done with the press of one button, there is very little depth to the combat.

It seems that if you’re looking for a fun time hanging out with the Guardians then you’ll be entertained. But if gameplay of substance is the most important thing then stay away because the game has cruise-control and this game requires little in the form of player input.

I knew something looked off in the Spaceship section. Turns out, its impossible to die and player steering is pointless as the game funnels the player where they need to go. I’ll wait for a super-duper sale.

It's a linear 20 hours new story for Marvel fans.

Gameplay isn't too complex but it's not as simple as pressing a button. Each Guardian has 3-4 abilities to learn as well as Starlord as you rack up experience points. After using any Guardian's ability, there's a cooldown. Combat gets hectic sometimes as you dodge around and use specific abilities for specific enemies that would stagger them more.

It's fun, a solid 7.5-8/10 kind of fun IMO.

One thing is, in Chapter 6, there's significant dips in that level on the PS5. Not sure if it's just me or did anyone else feel it then?

That's nonsense. You have to be strategic in combat or you will die. You can't just aimlessly shoot around you need to dodge and survey the battlefield and what team attack to use at the right moment.

Best game this year for me. Love the story, combat, characters and visuals. I wished Avengers had been like this.
I just tried playing the Avengers campaign.... Uninstalled after about 3 hours. How many damn vendors do you need? Utter trash game. Pitty too because the graphics were nice.

Womp Womp, 1080p

I tried switching back and forth and it really doesn't look like 1080p. Not sure if that's just my upscaling from the TV or I really couldn't discern that big of a resolution difference. I tried playing through 4k/30 and still prefer the 60fps mode at native 1080p even though settings were dialled back. 30 fps just looks so choppy now after getting used to 60 😔

I like the game but have some nitpicks, some of the cut scenes go on too long and his guns are way too weak during combat, they hardly cause any damage.

I did that too but kept it at 4K/30 after a min or two it looks normal again, when you swap from 60 to 30 at first it does look pretty bad. This game doesn't really need to be 60 for me, I do wish he was a little more responsive but that was the same on either 30 or 60fps, his animation to draw his gun seems to take a long time when you are trying to hurry lol.

I just started playing this yesterday. This game wasn't even on my radar but I'm glad I got it. The game is a blast. The music and voice acting is great. I especially love the banter between the guardians.

It's definitely a hidden gem that more and more are starting to find out about. I platinumed the game already. Loved it despite the performance issues at 60fps, pop ins and some bugs like pebble walls, some points in game where I had to reload checkpoint or save to progress through.

Yeah I had to restart once so far during a huddle up.

Loving the game but I get so many glitches on Series X that I am going to wait for the patch next week...like I set the pause when you command the other Guardians to full stop but I need to reset each time, combat is kinda hard for me I find, theres like too many ennemies for what you need to do in certain battles, plus they might add a better RT option and performance mode.

Its going to be hard though, finished Chapter 5 last night, the one with the clamps on the ship you have to shoot and man that was fun.

Just finished this, man I’ve never been more wrong after being so disappointed in the reveal. This is a 10/10 game for me. LOVED the story and the characters, and I actually prefer some of the game characters to the movie versions. It was a good length and I didn’t feel it had any down moments, just a blast the whole way through

I hated Chapter 9,well the start of it because I suck at Spaceship battles lol,it was so bad but after constant tries I passed it...missed a glitched Outfit though and really dont feel like restarting that Chapter...game is awesome, now into Chapter 11.

Picked this up today since it is in the BF sale. Will get stuck into it tonight.

Might buy it on the sale... It's fairly linear right? I don't like having a huge backlog of games that I haven't got time to finish.

Yes. Linear. Took me about 3 hours or so for 5-6 days to platinum. So I would say 15-18 hours for completion?

Mark my words, Square Enix will be purchased by one of the 3 console makers or by another huge corporation. Every non Final fantasy title seems to not make their expectations. Looking more and more that Square Enix Management is inept at their projections outside of their comfort zone.

Maybe they’ll sell off a studio or two, hopefully with their IPs

I guess all the GP peeps are busy playing Elden ring but I'm having such a blast with this game already up to chapter 8, the story is engaging, great voice acting, combat can be fun when you remember to use all the different abilities.

Ray tracing mode looks fantastic in certain levels, been playing performance for fighting and a mix of RT and quality for exploration/cutscenes.

My main complaint is the banter, funny as it is the voices always drop in and out depending where you are, if you're facing a certain direction etc, actually gets pretty annoying have no idea why they made it this way.

What do you play with more, RT or QT

Cool game, great voice acting and story is fun. Looks amazing too but it's too blurry in RT mode, quality is where it's at imo.
The combat is the weakest part, too bullet spongy enemies and floppy movement, but everything else is terrific.

Great game, they should make more of these, just fix the combat.

I bought it a while ago. Played a few hours. Deleted it. Never found myself wanting to play it again.
