Yes you do especially if it's XB.
Will be a disaster if not.

Neither the 360 or X1 had a big named 1st party title at launch, they had new IP's that were mostly one and done series like Kameo (which I lived) and Perfect Dark (new to xbox)for the 360 and for the X1 Ryse (Which I didn't love lol) along with the only established 1st party series in this line up Forza 5. Halo isn't as popular as it used to be but it's still a huge IP and MS needs to treat it with care and not rush it out the door but they don't need to hold the series X back for it if it gets delayed IMO, I don't think 3rd party pubs want to miss the holiday window either.

They just need to show a video saying hey guys, this is what it looks like on the Series X at its full. Just a Youtube video upload, no live stream.

Why do these companies keep doing "live streams" with pre -recorded stuff anyway? just upload the show in 4K for crying out loud. Both MS and Sony have had issues with the quality of youtube streams and it just seems silly to keep doing it that way. Just set a time and upload the whole thing the way they do the individual trailers.

Both 360 and 1X came off of prior gens where XB was more popular.
XB is painted in a very bad way this gen.

The original xbox wasn't all that popular, that's one reason the 360 came out so fast, that and they wanted to get out of that bad deal with Nvidia.
You don't win a gen at launch but you can sure lose a ton of ground and letting the PS5 have 6-8 months on the market alone would not be a good move. They aren't going to match PS5 in sales anyway but they do need to get out there and take advantage of the holiday even if this one is going to be an odd one because of covid-19.

It wasn't getting flack and was bought mainly by hardcore gamers.

You win a gen at launch.
Going toe to toe XB already showed they can't do.

Tightening things like Halo and not going toe to toe makes the most sense.

I get where you are coming from I just don't think one game is going to make that big of a difference when launch is usually dominated by 3rd party games anyway. If they can get Halo into good shape and launch it on time that's great, I mean there is no reason to hold off if it's ready but a console launch is bigger than one game. That's even more true in this case where the game is cross gen and coming to PC as well, it's not something you have to have a series X to play so why hold the console back for it?,

Even with backpedaling , you're wrong. You're saying og xbox was more popular than xbox one? Sales says otherwise, so you're still wrong.
24 million vs 50 million
Yes I'm saying it was more popular with hardcore gamers.
Xbox one tainted the Xbox name.
So going into a new generation the 360 was in a better place because of the OG XB than XSX is because of the XBO.

Been saying the same thing no backpedaling required.

How about that Halo! I am super excited for Halo Infinite in 3 months!

Smells like a delay could be forthcoming. If it helps get the game to true next gen status then I'm all for it. Push it to March 2021 and launch it in a polished state.

Agree. Halo is more important than a Series X launch. My gut feeling is that if they're calling in all reinforcements, it's coming in hot this year regardless. We got to brace ourselves....

Yeah, I think they're going for the Hail Mary. It would be great to see a truly great looking game preview in a couple months, but that just seems too soon. Crossing fingers though. I really wish that the game wasn't running on a proprietary engine, which I suspect has probably held the entire thing up. If they are going to bring all of these people on board, why not get the RT lighting in there for launch? I find that whole RT patch after launch thing kinda disturbing.

I hope they can pull it together. I have a feeling that 343 was constantly reassuring MS higher ups them that everything was great and on track, but maybe Phil and company only knew what it really looked like in gameplay form just prior to the reveal. At that point they felt they were already committed to showing it, the internet backlash ensued, and MS management decided to step in and let 343 know they were going to be overseeing things closely through release.
