Battle Royale mode? At first I thought it was a terrible idea, but it could work (in addition to more traditional MP like COD).

Jumping in ODST style would be kind of fun.

Just rumors of course.

i swear I may have thrown out this idea, I want to see it happen...I joked about it for forza and look, we got it, hell it even takes place on island......

yo, if you look back at that deep dive for the recent trailer, the ring seems to be split up into islands. Imagine if those single player sections get reused like they did with reach

I could see Halo meshing the Warzone concept with Battle Royal. Instead of scavenging the map for weapons, you earn points by killing NPCs and other players. Use those points to buy weapons, vehicles or buy back dead teammates. Instead of 2 big teams, 4 man squads. I didn't like Warzone but something like this would really interest me.

I have no problem paying $60 for single player only games, if they put enough content in it there is no issue with value. I know MP gamers may not agree, most games I buy at $60 don't have MP or if they do I don't touch it for the most part.

There really aren't that many games that ask for $60 for both substantial campaigns and substantial multiplayer anymore. COD, Halo and Gears were the last of that kind. Battlefield and Battlefronts campaigns were jokes. COD sold well without campaign in 2018 so I kind of wonder if we should even leave them in this category. My gut feeling is Gears will follow this route and only COD will be left in this category. In a way I think it's good for these franchises to operate their campaign and multiplayer under different business models. By decoupling them, the devs have more creative freedom in their campaigns and consumers no longer have to wonder if they're getting a half assed effort on that front due to the fact that multiplayer is what's really driving the sales.

Separate topic but I hope Gears does the same thing. That way campaign isn't restricted to the gameplay that the multiplayer community wants.

I think you are onto something with Gears, the gameplay needs to evolve a bit, I find the constant wack a mole against the same enemies 5 games in has gotten old. I want it to feel more like a game with big battles and not so much focus on being a cover shooter with bullet sponge enemies. That was fine for the first few but they need something more when it comes to melee than chainsaw kills and I'd love to see larger fights with vehicles happen more often. I wanted a Gears RTS for a long time, I know tactics is out on the PC but I haven't really looked into it much yet.

When it comes to MP games I used to Play COD and BF up until the more recent entries, Battlefront 2 was fun as well and I enjoyed Destiny and Destiny 2 for a time because you don't have to play with other people even though it's shared world you can still do most of the stuff on your own. I would play the hell out of a Bad Company 2 remake though :)

Games like Red Dead and GTA would be worth the price for their single player alone, the MP makes a ton of money after the sale for Rockstar and Take Two but the single player portion is more than worth what they charge up front IMO.

the problem I have with $60 is that is one and done roller coaster title. I just can't see my self buying a full price of an SP title. I get those when it is on sale. Like @ $25.

I am open to idea of Battle Royale, but instead of the following warzone, they need to follow the pinnacle of BR, Fortnite. I am being serious. Just take this season. The map started as Waterworld, where 70% of the map is underwater, & every week the water recede., & this week, an underwater kingdom (from Aquaman) was revealed. Also, the water is not a gimme, it greatly affects gameplay. Every week, they throw in new gears/weapons & add/remove weapons old & new so it always feels fresh. Also, it has a far higher skill gap that is more expect in a fighting game, than a shooter, by a landslide. Also every now & then, they throw free stuff at you.

While most BR has 2 phases, off spawn (where you try to survive) & then the 2nd phase, get better gears, kill enemies til the last person/group standing. Fortnite has of spawn & middle game (similar to other BR) & end game which is mostly built fights which have very high skill ceiling.

People have no problem paying $15 for an hour and a half movie ($20 for the blu ray and even more for UHD) but a 15-40+ hour single player game is over the line at $60? I just don't get it.

Omfg lol
Now trolling about it not being worth full price?
I guess I'm biased as I love halo, but there's posters that part post EXCLUSIVELY bad news and opinions in this thread still, I can't be the only one seeing this?

Good argument for gamepass. Also could allow for single player games to not feel like they have to all be 25 hours to justify their price too

That's not how entertainment works. if we go by price per hour, then why do anything except watch youtube & TV? They are different experiences with different value.

I'm not paying 15 per movie or 60 per game. Got a Pathé Unlimited gold card for cinema, Netflix and Game Pass. I pay very little for the amount of movies and games I consume on a monthly basis.

Halo campaign pricing will be interesting. A significant aspect of the campaign is that its a platform. It will sell just fine at $60. For those not subscribing to Game Pass Ultimate (and a huge portion of the PC audience still doesn't believe in supporting it), do you drop it to $40 to get more customers in the door knowing that you'll have DLC coming out through the entire gen? I think its less about the console gamers and more PC. PC audience is more price elastic. They are more likely to wait for sales on $60 games since they've been trained on digital sales longer. For me personally makes no difference. I'll never buy another 1st party game as long as Game Pass is a thing. It's not about whether it'll be worth it. It's one of the most expensive games ever made. It will have more effort pumped into it than the majority of $60 games. Pricing is all about finding that balance between margin and quantity.

I don't pay $15 for movies, that too much blood for me.

I'm speaking about the masses you cheapskate lol jk. I honestly haven't gone to see a movie in a long time either, you only have to wait like 3 months and can see it at home and pay just $5 more to have access to it forever vs one viewing in a theater that could have a bunch of chatty a******s in it ruining the experience.

IF the campaign is as big as they say it is and full of content they should have no problem asking $60 for it, I'm sure they want people going through GP though and that's why they are saying they are going to keep adding content over time. I doubt many people will want to pay for it up front though, they'll likely just sub to GP for a month and finish it and cancel, then again the people who are most interested in Halo are probably already GP subs anyway. It'll be interesting to see how it charts on NPD for the first two months, it'll be cross-gen so anyone who wants it can get it.

Gaming offers far more value than a movie IMO, not just based on the fact that AAA games take longer to make and cost more than movies but they also offer a lot more overall entertainment. I don't think it even compares, I love movies but gaming s***s on the movie industry IMO, especially with the crap that comes out now.

I wish I could pay 60 bucks for a brand new game I look at 89 bucks plus, usually 109 for a new game. Screw you guys :(

Playing through the entire Halo series in order on Legendary. Still on Reach. Those dreaded Halo 2 sniper Jackals are waiting for me...

...once again have to reiterate how bad your companion AI is in Reach. Maybe they turn it all the way down on Legendary because I don't remember being as bad on Heroic. Really looking forward to seeing what they do with AI in Infinite. Important aspect of the gameplay in a sandbox. 343 could kind of get away with poor AI in 4 and 5 since most environments were corridor shooting galleries. Open area sandbox will either highlight or exploit the deficiencies in the AI.
