Inside Xbox: May 7th, 8:00 PST

I hope this event being focused on 3rd party means they spend more time on each game overall and not rush through a bunch of trailers like they've been doing at E3. They don't have to split time between first party stuff and 3rd party and I'm not sure how many games they plan on showing but some deeper looks would be great.

Would love it if it were all demos and no story trailers that are 90% cut scenes. I'm not saying that's MS fault either, third parties decide what they want to put out there I'm sure and that's why E3 has been so forgettable the last couple of years. It has mostly been a bunch of 2-3 minute trailers with barely any gameplay one after the other and then it all sort of just blends together and becomes one big forgettable commercial. Ubisoft and some Bethesda regardless of what you think of them actually have gameplay at their pressers to go along with the trailers and I find that to be much more enjoyable.

Do you guys think pre-orders will go up that day or will it happen at the summer event?

My guess is the summer event since they're apparently playing a game of chicken with Sony over console prices.

Anyone think these will be mostly third-party games that launch on Game Pass.

What I liked about E3 and MS is that MS was just blasting us with game after game for an hour and a half. 60 plus games just last year, showing trailers as well as game play. They have been rocking the E3s.

But going this direction won’t have the same impact, will it? Spreading these out over the course of spring and summer? Or is it better because you are extending the media attention?

The only issue I have is a game that is already out will use a space In the E3 presentation to show its DLC when that could be a trailer on its own.

I think it shows that MS is quite confident about their first party stuff. They either have a lot of games, or want to spend more time than a 15-30 second trailer in each, or both.
I’m sure new gamepass games will be announced also.

The event next week gets people excited for next gen, both in how games will look and play, and the Summer event is the ‘sell‘ of why we should choose Xbox

Could we see flight simulator at this event?

the bottom of the page states “NEXT UPDATE – 05.07”

I don't know, hopefully it's a little more than standard E3 style trailers but we'll see. I'm hopeful that it'll be more but I do have my expectations in check :)

Agree. I'm going to go against my better judgement and say they will allow for deeper dives and thats part of the reason these shows have been split up. I also hope the last Inside Xbox was their chance to put spotlight on the Indies and less technically impressive games so they could move to the hardware showcases. Even though I'm a huge Indie fan, this isn't the time to highlight them.

Spencer was made fully aware of the hardcore audiences feeling about their E3 2019. Would be disappointed if they don't adjust.

I don't like that the show is being called Inside Xbox though. That usually means the lack of self awareness cringe will be out in full force.

Ah who the f*** am I kidding with? We'll probably get an escape room segment after new controller reveals. Its Major Nelson's show. Really like everything Xbox is doing right now...except IX.

I’ve always liked inside Xbox, it’s always been a semi deep dive with interviews with devs after a showcase instead of the trailerthon that is e3, more personal. I’ll admit it is a bit more hammy in its current state targeted at everybody then what many people here as hardcore fans would go for. I am the type who would watch every vidoc off the dev process of games I’m interested in and one who watches all the extras included in Blu-ray/dvds

They'll probably wait until gamestop and other retailers are open for business.

just gamestop, others are still making money

It would be devastating to gamestop if they allowed all of the other stores to take pre-orders while they are closed, even though they barely make anything on hardware or software sales it'll still be a lot of volume and they can sell things like extended warranties etc. Besides neither Sony or MS probably know how many units they'll have ready quite yet. In the past pre-orders didn't usually start until the week of E3.

Not that they can but they don't hold the capacity like the other stores can do.
