Official Thread Inside

JUST beat it. What. The. f***. Did I just play. lol. Now to go read up on what fans are speculating as to wtf it was about.

Loved every minute of it but in my opinion it doesn't surpass Limbo. The puzzles on Inside were just to easy. Didn't have to hit up YouTube for an answer to a single one. Whereas Limbo, I gave in during all the gravity/anti-gravity bulls***.

Even though IMO it doesn't quite stack up to Limbo, I'm still glad I spent the full $20 to support Playdead.

True about the puzzles. But I thought the overall package was more interesting. The atmosphere created more sense of wonder. Imo

The story
I think the story was a metaphor for growing up and becoming a slave to the system.

I wonder about the replay-ability of this game. Because I saw some areas in previews and reviews that I didn't play. Like one area where you're fighting off the dogs with a torch. That never happened in my playthrough

This and Ori. MS has to keep these studios close to their heart and treat them like royalty.
The future and their strength lies with studios like these. They make the difference. The more you have of them in your portfolio the better.

Inside is such a fantastic game. A breath of fresh air. Like Ori. Beautiful in their own way.

Thought the story meant one thing but the secret ending made me think another

Secret ending?

Are there different paths though the game?

No it involves finding all collectables then going back to earlier part in the game. Fully recommend seeing it for yourself rather than watching on yt

Finished two playthroughs and started a third. Here's a theory my nephew and I came up with:
Scientists have developed brainless clones to work as manual labor for society. One rogue scientist decided to clone his dead son, who wasn't brainless at all.

The cloned son ran away to learn about his origins. Meanwhile the rogue scientist's project was discovered, and a hunt was ordered to bring in the cloned son.

Through his journey, the cloned son would learn of other science experiments that were conducted. He would grow through this journey.

Somehow however, through these science experiments, society was decimated. Support for the science experiments ended, the clones were recalled or destroyed, and the main scientific facility was left abandoned. The boy's journey continued though.

The boy discovered a secret science experiment near the end of his journey, and he realized that this entire quest prepared him for this inevitability. His mind was the key to unlocking the final scientific breakthrough. He gave life to a new life, one that could only live as a free being.

There is an alternate ending that requires finding all the orbs and performing something similar to the Konami code...it's on YT. Makes you think about the game a little differently.

Seriously, what the hell was with the mutant Mr. Potato Head?? One theory is it was controlling the boy and the player the whole game...which is why once it escaped the game ended. Hmm.

Started and finished this yesterday, man, that was crazy, I was NOT expecting that, missed 3 orbs though so need to go on the journey again. That submarine part is very pretty and love being followed around by.... whatever they are with broken necks / limbs haha

Just finished! The animators should get an award for that last sequence! I've never seen something like that in real time! So fluid and physically dynamic! Crazy that the most interesting achievement in animation would happen in auch a amall game :)

Makes sense, but then why do
the scientists help you escape at the end?!

It was like a twisted version of Katamari Damacy.

or help trap you again by leading you into the room. If you look in the back ground you can see lots of people watching before you fall into the tank. You just happen to break out of it.

What the f*** Did I Just Play: The Game

What an odd twisted and morbid game.. enjoyed it thoroughly.

Guess it's safe to post again as I haven't seen my stalker about lately.

Got the game and absolutely loved it. Much more so than I did Limbo. Although I was tempted a few times, I was determined not to look for clues on YouTube and happy to say I didn't because the light bulb moments were a part of the fun. If anything the puzzles were a bit on the easy side and didn't require any hard platforming acrobatics. I think they walked that fine line perfectly here.

Controlling the little dude was a delight, so many poignant animations, the artistry, the silence and wonder...this game has it all in bounds and is a must-play for those who enjoy a game that can be discussed to it's meaning. I am left with my own theories and they vary from the spoilers I've read here. I want to go through again to find that secret ending which I refuse to watch prior to doing it myself.

I'm not sure what my total playtime was but it "felt" like 4-5 hours. This is my current indie GoTY with some heavy-hitters still yet to come along before year end. Bravo, PlayDead, bravo!

Agreed. This game gets a 10/10 for me. It took me 8 hours (according to the achievement profile screen on Xbox) so far to finish the story with I think 150 deaths :). It's hard to talk about the game without giving spoilers. The game is indeed memorable, and I will be going back for the hidden items so that I can 100% acheevo this game. So worth it.

Now to drag myself through the rest of UC4. Finally on Chapter 14.

Inside coming to PS4 Aug. 23rd.

That was pretty fast. I expected it to take a year or so.

What a month for indies on the PS4, eh?

- Abzu
- No Man's Sky
- Bound
- Inside

I challenge anyone to come up with a better month-long list of indies on any console, ever. Evah!

The year of the PS4 continues. First we get Uncharted 4 that came in at a 93 on Metacritic and now we're getting the critically acclaimed Inside that also came in at a 93 on Metacritic.

To quote an old friend from TXB. OWaN: We eatin' good.

Bump. Reminder that this comes out tomorrow on PS4.

Pick it up Andy. I finished Inside over the weekend. It's the best indie game this gen in my opinion. Worth every penny.
