Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Sounds like they're having trouble getting funding.

If they're able to, I'd be interested in the game. I don't have anything against fantasy elements, but a realistic medieval RPG might be an interesting change of pace.

So if there's no fantasy or anything wouldn't this get boring? Is the point of the game to dodge the plague?

Chivalry and mount and blade are a lot of fun. Would love to see their game play elements within a proper rpg.

You can be a Landsknecht, who were these badass mercenaries fighting the wars of all the feuding princes and counts all over Yurop.

Games aren't interesting without spell-casting wizards. This is exactly why I didn't buy that borefest they call GTA V.

Lack of fantasy usually hurts these games in the eyes of people. I believe that's part of the reason Ryse didn't review so well. Without the magic and monsters, you cut out a huge bulk of what makes stuff like an RPG or hack and slash.

If there's one genre that should be the opposite of authenticity it's RPGs. People's aren't buying these games hoping it's like Truck Driving Simulator. Adventure, high stakes story and plot (albeit always predictable), and crazy fights and magic powers or gear are what people want.

Ryse got bad reviews cause it's a bad game.

Warhorse Studios Brings the Open World to the Old World with Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Coming to PC and next-gen consoles in 2015, the game is an open world, action-adventure, role-playing game featuring blockbuster production values, a nonlinear story and revolutionary, first-person melee combat.

Leveraging decades of combined experience in AAA game development, including titles in the Mafia, Crysis, ArmA and Operation Flashpoint franchises, the creative talent powering Warhorse Studios is well-versed in pushing the boundaries of RPG storytelling in sprawling, immersive environments. “The team’s ambition for Kingdom Come: Deliverance is growing this ever-maturing sandbox genre in a believable, real-world context and scope,” remarked studio Creative Director Dan Vávra. “To that end, we’re harnessing CryENGINE®3, nonlinear narrative, varied freedom in character progression, and a consequence-laden living world in ways that have never been possible until now.”

Rooted within the Holy Roman Empire during the late Middle Ages, Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises a first-person seat to a harsh and brutal power struggle for the throne. As players traverse expansive, strikingly detailed locales, they’ll grapple with a range of period-accurate fighting techniques, horseback combat, open-field sieges, and large-scale battles, all while developing relationships and a reputation that will inform the greater story. Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises no magic, high fantasy or mythical overtones - it draws its inspiration instead from historically authentic characters, themes, and warfare.

Is a shame they made it First Person, but I still think it sounds interesting. The Gif looks pretty good too.

They got their funding then? Yes! RPG version of Chivalry here we come!

Yup! Checked out their campaign on Kickstarter. They should be up and running now.

I wonder if its too late to endorse them with another 100$ and buy a few more pixels for this game? Hell, 200$ should be able to get a few more frame rates too! I wonder if they have a Kickstarter Lay-a-way plan for pixels?......pixels and frame rates. Hmmm.o_O

Better save these crisp apple fritter coupons just to be sure. Says here on the bottom: Expires 1/28/2014. Dayyuum!!!

Glad to hear they got funding. In the last thread we had about this I know I expressed some hesitation towards this game and that still stands, but I'd still like to see what comes out of it. Graphics look good.

One thing is for sure, using the Crytek engine, its going to look insane! Hopefully it has a third person POV as well as first person though. If not, I'll still check it out. I'll just have to hold my mouth right....;)

I'm still kind of meh on it, but congrats to them. Nothing wrong with trying something different and I look forward to being proven wrong in my lack of excitement for this game.

The combat will make or break the game.

This. I tried Morrowind (boring awful combat), managed to half enjoy Oblivion, and love Skyrim. Here's hoping they do some copying from other developers mistakes.

I would hope they learn and improve from other dev's mistakes, rather than copy them! ;)

Honestly I don't think I would miss the mystical elements. The magic in Skyrim was IMO the least satisfying combat element... I rarely used it. If taking out a magic system helps them focus more effort on the ranged and melee combat then I'm all for it!
