Microsoft Closes Redfall Developer Arkane Austin, HiFi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks, and More

He was asked to provide proof for his claim, and his response was "I didn't make the claim that the staff left with Mikami". He won't provide any source himself. Just trust me bro, I have 100 followers.

This is how bad Twitter is.
and why Dried needs to be banned from posting Twitter.

It’s hilarious how many replies MS/XB threads get when it’s something negative. Gotta keep beating that horse instead of using logic like they do with other publishers/console makers.

The layoff thread has about 300 posts. This one, started yesterday, has 242. 🤷‍♂️

He only posts the guys that religiously push the narrative that Xbox sucks and has no games, then when they close a studio it's the fault of GamePass.

Alpha Dog Games: 12 laid off
Tango Gameworks: 65 laid off
Arkane Austin: 150 employees, some of them are being moved to other Bethesda teams.

Sony fired 100 Bungie employees. The outcry wasn't nearly the same. Which is odd considering that Bungie said this about being bought out by Sony back in 2022:

"the most immediate change you will see is an acceleration in hiring talent across the entire studio to support our ambitious vision."

Also, gaming journalist acting like he doesn't know when a game he's apparently looking forward to is coming out.

Despite MS announcing it at a showcase that he likely watched.

He is expecting that MS will have TV commercials for it at the Superbowl and the Masters, on billboards in 195 countries, ad banners take overs at all media outlets online, advertisements on all city busses, email marketing blasts and a Hellblade 2 wrap on the Statue of Liberty.

Maybe because there is just more interest in Xbox from a site that was born from teamxbox?

It was a bigger deal when they bought these companies and its a bigger deal when they shut them down. Some of the people that were cheerleading the acquisitions will be uncomfortable with that but its not out of line.

Who are they?

You question them but don't question the original rumour from Reddit poster? Interesting. What gives that random Reddit post more credibility ?

They are just giving their input into the situation like the Op of that picture.

The problem is, we are on the outside looking in. We don't work for these corporations in the seat of a CFO. We don't know the numbers. We don't know the productivity. We don't know the red vs. black. Corporations are not required to pamper raging hardcore fanboys of their business practices and give them the details. So if we don't know the reasons, why is the internet lit up like a Christmas tree with armchair quarterbacks that apparently know how to run a corporation better than a corporation? A bunch of nerds on their cellphones tweeting their displeasure and their own made up facts, all while preparing two happy meals for the drive-thru.

We do know there are redundancies in acquisitions.

You posted the pig, not us.

Now they are starting to build on that.

I'm not giving either credit and not responding to rumors. There too much of that already.

Now you get sites like this

You won't see anything like this for Sony shutting down studios, or even someone like Embracer.

Help me remember. Wasn't it Naughty Dog that had cuts and some of the media dared not make comments during that time.

Of course we don't know. All we can do is speculate and I support getting rid of fanboy twitter accounts because obviously it adds nothing. Corporations don't need to run their accounts to please fanboys and fanboys shouldn't need to run defense for corporations either. Which one bothers the members of Union?

The people running to MS defense now were also running to their defense at any idea that MS buying up massive publishers wasn't something worth celebrating. Or maybe people shouldn't take MS spin as gospel.

Its good news they are buying everyone up because they are going to invest in them! Oh wait actually its good news they aren't investing in them because now they can focus on Fallout!

Would these developers have closed their doors anyway? Maybe MS kept them afloat due to the acquisition, hoping they could turn them around? All questions....

Right, because these studios would definitely be open if Zenimax, who sought out acquisition, was still independent.

So many people in gaming want to see MS/XB fail while they cheer on Sony/PS while they ignore Nintendo/Switch. I’ve never understood the extra criticism/hate MS/XB gets all the damn time.

Who were these people here cheerleading all these acquisitions and always taking their word as gospel?

Problem is this same energy is never towards Sony and Nintendo across gaming media and social media.

I totally agree but one of the claims for why it was good for MS to buy them was that MS would invest in them. It would be better for the devs and the studios.

Well if you want to see cheerleading go read the Activision thread.

Fair enough, but at the same time that shouldn't mean ultimate safety no matter what happens. Arkane Austin's last release led to Phil publicly apologizing and Tango has lost its founder. It could also be that what they have in the pipeline isn't looking great - not just recent releases.

Seeing posts about canceling Game Pass because of this. If you're canceling to "get back" at MS, just think of the other studios too. People are so reactionary these days...especially without knowing the full picture. I'm not saying what's happening is right or wrong. Just saying we don't know and we may never know. But to react in a manner and say dump your XBox or cancel your subscription doesn't help a whole lot either.

Cancel for your own reason. I just don't think canceling as a protest won't help. If you care about game studios, then support them in the best manner as possible. Be positive.
Well I currently don’t even have an Xbox. Streaming games is ok. But not the same as native.

And karma posted that first rumour but was not questioned. So why the questioning with this other response ? 🤔
Probably missed it. Don't hold me accountable for reading everyone's posts. I'm working as scroll through these.

What does that have to do with this forum?

Only thing I remember me included is MS/XB needed to grow and put out more games. It’s just so many don’t like the way they go about it and feel they “bought” their way into this industry while Sony/Nintendo built everything they have.
