I finished Prey, clocked at 40hours on steam. Masterpiece. I give it a 9.5/10. 0.5 points knock for the visuals that can be better.
I previously mentioned the lack of fast travel, after thinking back, there is a reason not to, as traversal & planning the best path to a location ( & alternative ways if one was blocked) is part of the gameplay, & if you want to move fast, like really fast, you can spec into moving skills & you fly past area fast.
The fabricator (used to craft ammo, gears, items, & consumables) & recycler (used to recycle parts for crafting materials) can be found in many areas so you do not need to backtrack to use them.
One of the amazing things about the game is NO enemies or areas are being the force that you need to fight through them to process. Even so-called bosses of min bosses, you can choose to hide from or run past. AT the beginning-mid of the game, I will kill all mobs in an area I need to explore so I do not need to keep hiding & running. But in the end, when I just want to sprint from one point to another (especially some timed mission), I just ran pass them. Sure I took damage, but it's more resource-wise for me to heal/repair at end of the run, then waste ammo/time engaging mobs (which will respawn later no less). There are far more items that can recover health than ammo you can pick up, ALternatively, you can turn into a cup & roll your way out without being hit at resource cost that can also easily be recoverable.
You play however you want. That is what makes the game amazing.
