Not really surprising, they didn't have much going earlier in the gen and now that games should start coming out in the next year or so prices will go up. Nothing wrong with that though, costs have gone up for years and game prices were stagnant for two generations.

But Sony is the only evil one right 😋

Pretty sure anyone and everyone would rather pay less than more. But maybe that's just me.

It was only a matter of time, game pass will likely go up in price too. It's hard to raise prices when you aren't adding much new AAA content but when that starts coming out you have to make money to pay for it to keep making more. This just goes to show how full of s*** Phil Spencer is again though, everything is a PR strategy with that guy.

Despite saying they wouldn't do it this year but would have to eventually?

Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Says Price Hikes Are Coming, But Not Until After The Holidays

October 2022

Can you believe the lies? I wish Phil had just been honest with us and said that we won't get a price hike until after the holidays.

What did he say before that? he made it sound like they were looking out for the consumer and that gaming was expensive etc, it's only because he knew they weren't going to have much going on for a few years lol. In the 2 years the Series consoles have been on the market they've only launched one game that could even realistically ask $70 for (FH5) Halo's MP was separated off and the campaign was barebones.

Yes they said this year wasn't the right time to raise the prices. They have stuck to that.

Why would they when people will continue to pay?
They just need to give better Gold rewards.(larger discounts would be one thing).

There have been plenty of $70 games far worse than Halo campaign. They easily could have charged $70 if they wanted. They could also have charged $70 for Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo and Flight Simulator.

I'm talking when the generation started not this year, he only recently vaguely admitted that prices on things may go up.

So he should have said back in 2020 they would do it 3 years into the generation?

They need to break the barrier for engagement. If you purchase an Xbox being able to play F2P games online without further commitment would be a great way to pull people in and increase player count.

Haven't they already done that with some F2P games?

Start of this Generation? You mean before the double digit inflation? I hate price increases as much as the next guy, but it's an unfortunate reality, and it's still a great deal. they still have to be profitable. I've saved ridiculous amounts of money because of gamepass.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Maybe. You might be right.

Sure I read some F2P games didn't need a gold sub? Know it took them ages to end that Netflix and so on locked behind gold BS cause Dom felt it added to the value of Gold.

Looks like they changed that last year, so you don't need Gold to play F2P.

The content, scale, and technical complexities of those titles don't yet reflect $70 that's why

Going forward they will Kappa

It looks like you are conceding to Jerry’s false comment about the Halo campaign.
