New Destiny screens!

Eh, I disagree. I think it looks really last gen. It looks worse than many last gen games. At the same resolution and frame rate, Halo 4 beats this. The Witcher 3 is open world, and it destroys this. Utterly destroys it...

Yeah, I just don't get it. It looks like a mediocre last gen game.

Looks better than Titanfall.

Looks like somebody in this thread is a little bitter about the fact that Microsoft doesn't own Bungie anymore and that the PS4 is getting an early Beta and exclusive (though probably pointless) content for this game.

If this was a Microsoft Game Studios game or Xbox exclusive, it'd be the best thing since sliced bread.

Yeah this game looks great. COMPLETELY different game than Killzone, Ryse, BF4, etc. They shouldn't even be compared.

I agree with Flynn on this. Every time I have seen this the two things that go through my head are. Looks like a higher res version of REACH and it looks too similar to Halo.

I have friends that want this really badly so I hope the game-play is unique with the MMO style as I may end up getting this just to play with my friends. Lets hope its a unique experience.

His res, sharper detailed texture over low polygon models are characteristic of cross gen game. Not saying the game doesnÄt look good, but its basically visually, like PC version of last gen game.

For a game that suppose to continue to expand over under a decades or so, it will look dated with a few years on next gen.

I am not saying I will not play the game due to the visual, but just pondering how the game could look, if they made it true next gen.

It doesn't matter... Regardless of what kind of game it is, this game looks like a last Gen game. People impressed really surprise me, because it just doesn't look impressive in any way. Cool art style, sure, but it's really not technically impressive on any level. Nothing special with lighting, low poly models (for both characters and the world), unimpressive textures, and very typical/last Gen animations.

I just don't get it... And so far, no one was pointed to anything remotely impressive.

This game looks awesome. Can't wait to get if for the X1.

They aren't going for impressive facials a la Ryse or anything like that. The art style is very appealing and it looks good. This is supposed to be a massive game. If we can get that plus these visuals I'll be all set. Besides, games like this the visuals aren't usually the focal point.

You pointed it out to yourself. It's the art style. Games don't have to be cutting edge technology wise to look great. The art style goes a long way.

A decent technology base combined with great art style, an impressive back drop, and massive battles with great looking particle effects can still be impressive.

Now THAT I can accept. If the "impressiveness" of the game is really coming from people just really liking the art style, I get that.

See, this is very different from saying, "Wow! This game looks impressive! Gorgeous!"

...What you're saying is, visuals aren't a key focus, and that's ok because the game sounds great and the visual 'style' is cool. That's totally fine, completely consistent, and makes logical sense.

It's the people who seem to be claiming this game is some stellar looking game, implying the visual tech is something impressive - that's where I get skeptical. The game literally looks like Reach with a twist to the art style and higher res textures. Models, lighting, environments - very 'clean' but also not 'full', or geometrically complex.

I'm just a bit saddened that Bungie hasn't really released something visually impressive since Halo 2 on Xbox prime. Halo 3 looked good but not great... same with ODST... and Reach looked pretty darn good, but it wasn't really near the top of the pack as far as impressive visuals for its time... and now with Destiny, it just clearly looks like Bungie isn't focused on upping the visual bar in any interesting ways... which is fine, I mean, games don't have to be on the bleeding edge of visual tech in order to be wonderful games... again, I'm just surprised to see people acting like this game is doing something impressive visually, when it's so clearly not.

Agreed with Flynn. Looks great from an artistic point of view, but there's nothing about the visuals that scream next gen.

Kinda like Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive, but switch sides.

I'm expecting great gameplay and interesting vista's and enemy AI dynamics. It is a solid looking game for enjoying what I am expecting, but I have to agree that it is not what I would expect of Next Gen visuals, but it is not last gen either.

This.

These visuals look much better than anything before. The red cape guy looks slick.

This game could be pretty epic but they need top clear some things up for me. How open are the areas? How does travel work? How big is the total area to explore? can you explore? Is there incentive to explore? Commerce? Upgrades/stats?

This looks pretty good. I just don't understand how it's three playeres throughout most of the game unless you run into some random events where more players can do a single quest with you a time? I thought this was supposed to be a smallish MMO style game where at least eight of your friends were there the whole time. That's the only disappointing thing about Destiny to me...why three players?

This is a cross-gen game. They still have to make it playable and graphically similar to the PS3/XB360 version.

Can't wait until the beta. I can't even remember though, have they announced when that would be?

Well, think about it.

World of Warcraft dungeons - 5 players
Diablo 3 - 4 players
Borderlands - 4 players

and so on and so forth

8 players would be rather impractical. to be perfectly honest I think 3 players is perfect. I can't count how many toons I've either deleted or just stop playing because I was leveling with 3-4 other people and they stopped playing those alts or stopped playing altogether. 3 players is easy to put together almost every night, at least for me.

I agree with Flynn. Neither Destiny nor Titanfall look next gen. However, they both have a cool atmosphere and look fun to play.

Those screens, especially some in your first post, just scream "this is what Mass Effect SHOULD have been".
