New Destiny screens!

It seems this game is oozing a combo of Borderlands + Mass Effect + Diablo (loot). SP or co-op is great too.

If Bungie gets this game firing on all cylinders, this game may be THE game to get. I don't think there is one game/franchise out there (at least on consoles) that has successfully done this.

This looks pretty good. I just don't understand how it's three playeres throughout most of the game unless you run into some random events where more players can do a single quest with you a time? I thought this was supposed to be a smallish MMO style game where at least eight of your friends were there the whole time. That's the only disappointing thing about Destiny to me...why three players?
I know what you mean. I think the first videos of this game a year ago gave the impression of groups of gamers in teams fighting each other, plus teams exploring planets and dungeons against the AI.

But maybe things changed course.

Or maybe I just didn't watch those videos as closely as I thought and if I did, the game was actually promoting small teams of 3-4 gamers banded together the whole time.

The entire point of Borderlands is loot, not sure why you threw Diablo in there

Did they say if loot will be a big part of Destiny like it is in Borderlands?

Too Human tried.

How can people say this looks great? It looks patently last gen to me...

That said, I like the art style, but I really don't think this looks great at all. It would seem that Bungie's style (and technical capabilities) hasn't really changed (or improved) since Reach... too bad, since I think 343i really took Halo 4 to another level visually.

I'm sure it'll be a fun game, and I have a great deal of faith in Bungie to make something fun - but I'm honestly *so* happy that Bungie isn't involved in the Halo franchise anymore... I think it would have just stagnated, and I think Bungie seems incapable of making something truly graphically impressive these days.
LLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLL

8 players would be rather impractical. to be perfectly honest I think 3 players is perfect. I can't count how many toons I've either deleted or just stop playing because I was leveling with 3-4 other people and they stopped playing those alts or stopped playing altogether. 3 players is easy to put together almost every night, at least for me.
Yeah, I just have a lot more friends than that & they are always online. They advertised this as being a lot bigger co-op experience when the game was first announced, at least that's what they hinted at. I still dream of a co-op game where you could take 4-8 players & everybody could go adventuring together. I thought this was going to be it.

As it is, that's fine it's three players, just saying I was led to believe it was going to be more & I was like, "Yes, finally what I've always wanted!" Brink (the game) I got excited for because it was supposed to be like that, but that game back in the day was average at best all around. I was hoping Bungie would take a stab at the 4-8 player thing because they are a good developer. It would be fun to have 8 people exploring around together then coming up on huge monsters with tons of hit points. I'd love those epic battles where everybody contributed.

Well, we also don't know all the ins and outs of the game yet. It could very well turn out that there are 3 players per "fire team" and that 8 people can play in the same zone, communicate and join up for large bosses/events. Also, it stands to reason that with 360 (and PS3?) being supported that the instances are going to be small-ish corridor shooter experiences where 8 people would just be a fustercluck. Hell there were some times in Borderlands 1&2 where even 4 people was a smidge crowded in the dungeon instances.

From what has been shown, the more action-y areas all seem to be smaller/more confined areas, corridors, rooms, etc. the larger areas and open environs seem to be boss/community (whatever they are calling it) events. If that's the case smaller teams are the way to go.

With the community events can multiple teams join up to take down bosses, challenges and what-not? That would be pretty awesome and prolly where their semi-MMO approach comes into play.

This game is not sounding as cool anymore. I thought It was gonna be like an mmo or something.

I'll still be picking it up if the reviews are positive. I think the game looks great. I love the world/artwork. I was just under the impression you could play with more people. I'm just happy there will be a lot of decent games to choose from this year.

Same here. I like the artwork and style of the game too. Hopefully your squad can "meet up" w/other squads/players for the community events, or whatever they're called, that would be pretty cool.

Can't lie, I'm looking forward to Destiny oh so much. It's one of the two games that'll either convince me to get a PS4 or stick with PC gaming for another year.

Will this be like borderlands where it's cool play solo?

I certainly hope so, I know there will be plenty of times when I won't have time to play it online. Destiny is the first game in a long time that I've already pre-paid.
