Not that this is a surprise to anyone, but Sony can monitor your voice communication and will do so. What separates this from others from the past is that they're not saying it's because of law enforcement. They're doing it for their own reasons. I'm not to sure how well that will sit with some people. With the uproar people made about the Xbox One sending pictures of your randomly to their servers, which was proven false, how will the masses react to this? Will people be OK with Sony listening to your conversations at their choosing for their own reasons and not because of law enforcement forcing? via Polygon and Sony (full ToS).
14. Are we monitoring PSN?14.1. Yes but we can't monitor all PSN activity and we make no commitment to do so. However, we reserve the right in our sole discretion to monitor and record any or all of your PSN activity and to remove any of your UGM at our sole discretion, without further notice to you. Your use of PSN and our community features may be recorded and collected by us or sent to us by other users as described in 13.1. Any information collected in this way, for example, your UGM, the content of your voice and text communications, video of your gameplay, the time and location of your activities, and your name, your PSN Online ID and IP address, may be used by us or our affiliated companies to enforce these Terms and the SEN Terms of Service, to comply with the law, to protect our rights and those of our licensors and users, and to protect the personal safety of our employees and users. You're gonna pull this card after all of the nonsense people posted about Kinect and spying? This came out today with Sony updating their ToS.With all the exciting news coming out today about the PS4, it figure this would be the thread that gains traction on this site. Pathetic.

Yeah, it's quite lame to be honest. Show me where it says I will be monitored for ad tailoring or where Sony has signed on with PRISM and then I will care. This is just like every other TOS of every other online service. There is a pretty big PS event going on right now, where is that news? You're gonna pull this card after all of the nonsense people posted about Kinect and spying? Yeah, those size 720's fit a bit too tight on my 1080's.The shoe on the other foot is always an uncomfortable fit.
I'm not at the show. The show is happening now. What would you like me to report? You have thread making ability right?Yeah, it's quite lame to be honest. How quickly we conveniently forget that all of Kinect's features will be able to be turned off. That was a common theme for people looking to attack MS and the Xbox One. People seem to always ignore that you were able to turn everything off. And having to check in your console has absolutely nothing to do with privacy concerns.Mandatory kinect + mandatory 24 hour DRM checkins had far more privacy implications than PS4 ever did. False equivalence to compare the two things.
Yes, remember, kinect had to be plugged in or the system wouldn't function? How quickly we forget.
Sony repeats its PS4 used game message
November 12, 2013
In the wake of reports suggesting that new clauses in Sony's terms and conditions have seen the company backtracking on its previous PlayStation 4 used game message, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has reiterated the original policy.
The company previously said that there will be "no restrictions" on preowned games, meaning that PS4 owners can sell or trade in their purchased retail games after use.
However, an alteration to Sony's Software Usage Terms for the UK this week states, "You must not resell either Disc-based Software or Software Downloads, unless expressly authorised by us and, if the publisher is another company, additionally by the publisher."
Yoshida has now clarified that the clause is just a legality, and nothing about the company's policy that it revealed at E3 earlier this year has changed.
"That's the terms of service on the European side of PSN," he told Gamasutra. "We have no DRM, no new DRM at all. It's just a legal thing. People can sell PS4 disc games like we've been saying publicly... Legal people come up with these things."
A Sony spokesperson also reiterated to Gamasutra, "As SCE announced at E3, consumers will be able to sell or share their PS4 disc products."
