Overwatch

Can I get rough if needed but true impressions plz?

Get yourself a key bro. Amazon it, wait for beta key, then de-Amazon it.

God, I wish all games downloaded from Battlenet servers. So fast.

I've only put a couple hours in so can't really give extension impressions. I keep hearing it's the new Team Fortress but I never played that to compare. From what I played I really enjoyed it. The cast of characters is big enough I think anyone can find someone they enjoy. Game looks and plays wonderfully. Didn't get a hint of lag at all in the dozen or so matches I played. I'm not too familiar with game modes or total map size so that might be my only worry. I know of king of the hill and escort mission. There is also something called brawl mode but no clue what it is.

I'd definitely check out the beta on Thursday. Feel free to add me on PC if you get it: ToxicVampire#1599

The player vs bots mode is pretty good as well to learn the characters. Hard AI has aimbot and wall hacks I think.

If it really is the "next team fortress", I'm now very interested. Will have to try this out myself.

Seems like a lot of fun, but frustrating. Playing solo in these games is brutal. I'm 0-4 and haven't even come close to winning yet. I always end up on the terrible team.

Could be a lot of fun once people learn to play. Seems like it could be a solid balance of fun vs teamwork.

If you just downloaded the game and ignored the tutorial, join my team! Everyone else seems to. 2 wins and 10 losses so far. WTF? I end up with all COD all-stars who still think in terms of k/d.

Two snow-girls on the same team can make for absolute hilarity. Going to try it again with three tonight.

I can't seem to get into this just based on the advertising alone, which is having an annoying, adverse effect on me.

I'm on the fence buying it. It looks alot of fun. Multiplayer-only and no campaign is a shame. Plus I have no friends to play with.

I got it. I tested out only the tutorial. Very sick these days.

It is fun. It has kind of a "rock, paper, scissors" thing going on.

I have major concerns about balance since the beta (supposedly final release is the same as beta) but it is still fun for now. I think a few classes dominate the game (and no, Bastion is not one).

The problem with the game is of course people. End up with a bunch of randoms who are useless and you're going to have a miserable game. It is fun to play the different characters which forces you to completely change your playstyle.

I think there are tweaks that can be made but as you said people being bad and the RPS nature of the game leads people to thinking a lot of characters are OP. Much of that is just people being unwilling to adapt.

People say Bastion is OP but of course has lots of counters. (Reinhart). My big issue is countering one or more good Widowmaker players on defense. When you are attacking and faced with a time limit, dealing with even a decent Widowmaker player is a challenge.

For the most part though every character has one or more counters. Bastion camps so you go Reinhart. Reinhart struggles with Reaper and Tracer, and so on and so on.

Teamwork is the thing. The team that works together almost always wins. Too many players think they can go COD Rambo on everyone and win, and this game isn't like that at all. The hitboxes are big and it is far from a twitch shooter.

I'm interested in the game, but don't think I'll have the time to really enjoy it.

There's definitely a learning curve. Not a hard one, but you need to put time into the characters to learn them. Of course you don't need to learn them all at once, but it helps if you know what your opponents are doing. 21 characters and many are really unique and you have to know how to play them.

The big problem with the game is your teammates. In this game, your teammates are key. If they aren't playing a smart role and adjusting to the other team, forget winning. I know playing this game with randoms is going to make me rage at times, especially on the no-mike PS4 side.

The kind of lone wolf player that picks one class and refuses to change is going to get steamrolled.

Hmm much talking is happening while I play on the PS4 version...

The game is good. It's a shame it's $60 on console for pretty much no reason at all though.

Its $60 because every other game is $60.

It's $40 on PC, so.....

Other developers have no issues releasing multiple digital SKU's, seems like every game comes with 4 different price tiered versions. Blizzard gets no pass from me.

Its $60 on the PC as well unless you buy the stripped version.

A couple of skins (5)?

Oh wait, my bad, they also give you a bunch of additional junk for other games (games that aren't even on console) that in no way have anything to do with Overwatch.

Edit: nvm, console version comes with loot crates. None of which affect gameplay and you normally get for free by simply playing the game.

I just started playing a few rounds, but I just know my experience on R6 Siege (and Destiny to some extent) on PS4 related to mics is pretty bad.

X1 is really bad when it comes to mic users, but PS4 seems worse (in my completely unscientific observations of course).

Actually the mic isn't really the problem, too many people just run the same character and never, ever adapt. If 2 bastions are camping your spawn, you might not want to run Soldier out there over and over and over and over.:smash:

Don't mind me guys, I'm simply bitching because I want to buy it, but not at that price.

Grumpy. Need food and coffee.
