Its crazy how quick these new consoles are selling. It took the 360, what, a year to hit 5 million ? and PS4 has done it in 3 months.

Wow, great job Sony. Crazy it hit those numbers in less than 3 months and hasnt even launched in Japan.

Sony is holding stock back to keep up the high demand? if so ... they are doing a great job @ it. In NL you still have to pre-order and stores receive shipment every 2 weeks. How can the numbers keep increasing so fast if they really have trouble supplying to stores?! Do you guys think the PS4 will, in a few years outsell the X1 WW 2:1? and the days of Sony exclusives back?

Who knows? I wouldn't jump out that far ahead so soon but Sony couldn't ask for a better start than selling just about every console they make 3 months after launch.

I still couldn't find one in Hesse, Germany. Hopefully, after Japan launch, they can ship PS4 some to us.

I think can can even reach over 6 million by March with Japanese launch!

Success is good, but over success can be dangerous. It could means they will not try as hard, or give so much good deals to gamers, like they do now. We need some worthy competition no matter what.

Sales are tight right now with the competition, so it looks to be a good thing. Well, maybe not for the Wii U, lol.

Iirc, they were aiming for 5 million by March 1, so they are ahead of their goal. All good. Console gaming is alive and well.

Japan launch is 2/22, later this week. That should be interesting.

Despite the sales so far, its still hard to say. They have much more supply available, which explain the record sales at launch. If the momentum can be keep consistancely, then yes, console gaming is well & good.

I will give up gaming if main gaming turn into F2P pay to win model, or flappy bird style, or 2 hours indie titles (not saying to do not like indie games, but for me they are filler between the big titles).

I do not care so much about console gaming as much a AAA game development, whatever the platforms they are available.

but I thought the tablet and mobile gaming was supposed to kill consoles:crazy:

Mine is taking a break after the initial launch excitement. Just waiting for Second Son and MLB 14 The Show. The downtime is fine though so I can catch up on backlog on other consoles.

Wow, they beat their March 1 goal already by 300K units and they haven't even launched in Japan yet.

PS4 has been beasting since launch. The launch in Japan in a few days should boost sales even further. When will demand reach a plateau at this rate?! Hopefully that doesn't bring out the arrogance from Sony again. Keep bringing the awesome exclusives out!

I'm curious how it'll be received in Japan, and how many units were allocated for launch. It launches this weekend?

They were smart to release in 50+ countries already.

Yes and the fact that they are beating their biggest rival in every country they are competing in except one (Brazil) is even better news for them.

Yup, and the fact that one is just over 4 million and the other is just over 5 million is great news for the most important people, us gamers! Competition for the win!

Good job Sony. Over 5 million PS4s sold already is just impressive. Crazy how quickly they turned everything around over the past few years. Then again, it's Sony. Greatness awaits.

but we all know Brazil is one of the biggest gaming markets, and MS got it locked. SUCK IT SONY. SUCK IT!

Imagine how fooked Sony would have been last-gen if it was only a 5 year cycle like normal :surprise: Playstation would likely be dead:surprise:

The Ps4 is the pinnacle of gaming consoles.
