With Cerny's comments about releasing it at a price that "would be appealing due to it's advanced feature set" it could be taken as him saying it'd be more expensive than previous consoles because it's including things that we haven't had in console before like an SSD etc. Like most things related to PS5 though that's just speculation because they haven't told us everything yet. We'll see what happens, people are going overboard on the other forums though, I swear some of them act like addicts that need to go to rehab lol.
I keep thinking the 13 TF thing it's the dev kit, which are always over spec. I'm not sure how many devs even have final dev kits though...

youd think they’d be near or at final specs since they were pretty public with Cerny, and those leaked videos showing off Spider-Man, as early as they did

It depends on how far along the dev kit is that they are using, it's totally normal to get high end PC's to work on as the real stuff is still being made but I don't think they'd go that far over if it was targeting 9.2TF, I could be wrong but we'll see. Even if it's 9.2 it's still going to be RDNA with RDNA2 features or flat out RDNA2 so it's going to be more than a 9.2TF GCN which would have been a little over twice as powerful as the Pro. I'm guessing but if it's at 9.2 RDNA/RDNA2 it's like 3 times the PS4 Pro.

Realistically, 9.2 is sufficient. It may not be as nice as 12, so it won't be the premier experience but it's good enough to get the job done at 4k with great frame rates with maybe some small reduction in quality.

If you want to go down the rabbit hole a bit, this guy (who posts here sometimes), gives the evidence for the 13 being the dev kit:

I'm not saying it's 9.2 by any means (don't know, lol), but just that I was under the impression that dev kits are typically over-spec for development purposes and that my be where the 13 is coming from in rumors. 12 is already going to be expensive. I think Sony cares more about making the next Playstation affordable than MS is does because MS is pushing that play anywhere mentality. They are just putting a premium product out for those that want it. Sony wants that console marketshare.

maybe.... 10-11TF's?
I heard 13 not full RDNA 2 but some RDNA 2 features.
Fit's better, certainly. People are forgetting that MS was overpriced and weak this gen because they had Kinect as part of the platform. If they are similarly priced, they will be similarly powerful. If Sony goes cheaper, there is pretty much zero chance it will be as performant. That said, Even at 9-11 TF, Sony devs WILL knock our socks off in the visual department. Very few devs will even be able to match what Naughty Dog does on current gen machines...

No doubt, honestly I don't care which one is more powerful, we are going to get better performance at higher resolutions along with the benefits of games made to use an SSD from the start so it's going to be a big jump from anything we have on consoles now.

A lot of talk about Sony launching a Pro model at launch. A respected Japanese journalist Zhenjiang Nishikawa has reported this too.

IF Sony is going to launch 2 models that would mean that 9.2 thing is clearly not true, there would be absolutely no reason to launch two consoles with only 3TF-4TF difference between them.

I think Sony could do with getting out in front of these rumours because lots of people are starting to believe the rumours of 13 tf which will inevitably lead to disappointment if they launch a 9-10 tf console.
That’s what makes me think there could be some truth to these rumours. Surely Sony would shut these rumours down so people don’t let their expectations run wild if it wasn’t true?

I've seen people be unreasonable on forums before but some of the people on gaf and era are acting like children, it's almost as if they are checking 10 times a day for news and then being pissed when there is none and it's really pathetic. Once they do announce the specs whatever they are all of this stuff will stop, I get what you are saying but I don't think Sony is too worried about a few whiners on forums going crazy

I wonder if the Coronavirus has threw a spanner in the works and delayed the reveal. It’s definitely an event that journalists from all around the world would attend so I’m wondering if Sony might push the reveal out to May/June.

I can easily see a 8-9.2TF base 1TB for $399 and a 13TF 2(?)TB Pro for $500+.
They did it this gen.

I trust Sony is smart enough not to let people who believe ridiculous rumours affect their marketing plans.

Hasn't they already said a pro version isn't coming at launch.

Either that or they are coming out with a Pro console that is faster than SerX.

I think the Coronavirus before its all said and done is going to effect alot of tech. From conferences and meetings to manufacturing and shipping, this thing looks to be a major disruption.

I don't think it makes a difference when people are that dumb. I mean if you can't tell the difference between a rumour and facts then why would Sony spouting facts make any difference.

But but feels over facts, get with the program menace.

Sony launching a 9TF 'Base' PS5 and a 13TF 'Pro' PS5 make no sense. Even less if they are both RDNA2 because then the difference will be even less.
Also both Microsoft and Sony have access to the same AMD chips. Neither console is going to be significally more powerful than the other

What if Sony simply had two models in R&D and went with the 13TF model when MS tipped their hand? Probably not practical huh?
