Must be comfy living under that rock of yours. If you aren't making such arguments, then clearly my point wasn't directed at you, but let's not play make believe and pretend as if the prevailing 'wisdom' around the internet since January was anywhere near as passive. The predominant assumption has always been that multiplats on PS4, even from day 1, would be demonstrating utterly huge visual differences. We heard claims of 1080p vs 720p, 60fps vs 30fps...all sorts of nonsense.
The counter argument was always that X1's architecture was much mroe divorced from PC design and more complex, so ppl leaning on PC parts for guiding their intuition were only setting themselves up to look stupid. The push back from that point by Sony fans was that the architectures are both GCN and in their version of reality that means the architectures are the same (because GPU architecture is synonymous with graphics pipeline design to ppl too dim to pay attention to X1's leaked info). The conclusion ppl drew from that, and one which is still pushed to this day, is that if the architectures are the same and if PS4 was way easier to dev for and if PS4 was dramatically more powerful then it's a perfect storm for X1 multiplats to be mercilessly slaughtered in comparisons.
Obviously both machines will be far from tapped out day 1. That's got nothing to do with the arguments being levied. Never has. The claims were that everything was conspiring to expose X1 as totally incapable of being competitive visually speaking on day 1, right from the get go, and that it'd get worse as time goes on. Now all the sudden the goalposts are being moved. Now multiplats don't count and it's because MS are evil and money hatted DF, devs, pubs, etc. Or MS is secretly showing off PC versions but the REAL X1 sku looks nothing like that! Or lazy devs who betrayed their fanbase by swearing allegiance to MS. Or whatever other emotionally convenient mental gymnastics the ever creative drones come up with between now and November 22nd.
In the meantime, Sony fans are backpedalling like crazy. Multiplats? Don't count anymore...unless they favor PS4. Exclusives? Don't count since it's launch...unless it favors Killzone. In that case the victory is decisive and damning for [reasons]. What about 2014? We will see PS4 dominance! Year of the PS4! Yup...any day now. Just gotta be patient. Totally not the same bulls*** mantra the nutjob fanboys peddled with 'year of the PS3' year after year last gen! Yup...totally different! Derp.
Well said this is exactly what sony fans have been pushing down over everyone's eyes!! Wait till a game runs and preforms better on X1 then your going to see excuses!! Like I said before different Gen same story!!
