Project Cars: PC vs. PS4

This from a little while ago from pre-alpha so phsyics and graphics may not give the best representation of final product. Still, this is one of my favorite videos of actual gameplay so far. This is just going to be insane in VR.

We've also had a number of questions on how we take our screenshots too - do we use some special photo mode or trick that only the development team have access to? Or were they taken on PC really or captured at a huge resolution and scaled down?

The answer is no to all the above - all screenshots are taken just like you'll be able to in the final game... by simply pausing and snapping away.

Because the Xbox one version is simply the best, and the discussion ends there. But the PS4 and PC are still trying to break the lie-breaker for second place.

That makes sense then. The Xbox One wins out all around this gen. PS4 and PC battle for the scraps.

Imagine if your sight, sound and love for cars had a threesome. This video might be for you! (Watch in 1080P fullscreen)

Wow! If the PS4 version looks anything close to that, then these guys have taken Turn 10 and Evolution Studios to school.

I would like to see some comparisons of forza5 vs PC on XB1, that would really push turn 10 I think. I'm really curious to see if I will be spoiled with the AI on forza 5, not sure these guys can reproduce the randomness and intensity I enjoyed with forza, we'll see.

lol yeah, PC gamers in 2012 could say that as well about ps4/xb1 :)

The Xbone version takes the essence of the PC/PS4 version and improves it by a factor of 720x !!!

Maybe, turns out PS4 is the console with the secret sauce. Plot twist! :p

On a serious note, I think many smoke & mirrors are use for the console versions, cutting put details, physic in area not obvious. Just a guess.

You know, for someone who constantly harps on others for perpetuating the console "war"...

Certainly an appropriate character.

I was merely making a joke in the first sentence, which is made clear with the very next sentence. Didn't expect anyone to take it as a console battle comment. If so, my bad. Apology.

But the point still stand, either PS4 have secret sauce, or they cut out some stuff, how else do you otherwise explain why the screenshots are comparable, when people mention the game required quite a beefy PC to run at high res & smooth fps.

With the hype surrounding this game, related to it's SIM physics....it better TROUNCE the simulation physics in GT, Forza, Race Pro and iRacing. If it even has a hint of Shift 2 physics, the game can blow me.

Isn't there an issue with car manufacturers limiting the amount of damage their respective cars could take in games? I read somewhere that car manufacturers see car damage etc. as bad marketing of their cars, hence holding developers back with what they could achieve physics wise.

Not real comparisons. Just bullshots. Comparisons can't actually begin until released.

Uh ok.

Anyways PC version is clearly better in those.

Yes, the pc version does look better.....but you'd really need to look close to see it.

"If you think the screenshots above are “bullshots,” they aren’t. At least for what the PC version is concerned, they’ve been taken simply by selecting the external view, unlocking the camera and painstakingly trying to find a matching angle. Project CARS Creative Director Andy Tudor mentioned that the PS4 screenshots have been captured with the same method.

We’ve also had a number of questions on how we take our screenshots too – do we use some special photo mode or trick that only the development team have access to? Or were they taken on PC really or captured at a huge resolution and scaled down?

Snapshot modes are not very different from bullshots. Forza's snapshot and autovista modes should be proof enough of that.

Yea I'm sure in motion it would be harder to tell the difference. Either way PS4 version is looking pretty good anyways. And yea I saw that picture lol.

I'm just quoting what the dev is saying so maybe you and them just have a different meaning for "bullshots?"

Well, snapshot modes pre-render your screenshot with added visual fidelity and effects not possible in real-time gameplay. So maybe you are right. Maybe snapshot modes aren't bullshots.

Pre-render isn't the right word here, what snapshot mode does (on most games, at least) is that it adds other affects and maybe better AA.

Sorry this are not bullshots i own project cars and to take the picture in the game its easy just pause and switch to external camera you can zoom in and out and get perfect angle for screenshots that's about it.

There is no extra DOF or any other AA or post-processing while taking the shots.
The picture you get its 1000% exactly like in the game as you play no BS photo mode at all!

Snapshots in Forza, GT have post processing, like added AA , lense effect etc, hence they are slighltly enhance.

From what the Project car developer have said, its more like screenshot using the snipping tool in Windows, & screenshot have no post processing (unless you use some of those special screenshot tools), not unlike how people take screenshot picture of their PC game, so its pretty much what you get in actual game.
