So menace, how is the game against Forza, in your opinion? I am mighty tempted by it.Here is a helpful little guide for the control settings.

There is an achievement for the 24 hour race but not sure if it has to be the full 24 hours real time?I think tomorrow I might try doing a Le Mans 24 hour race. Maybe make it last 4 hours in real time--that would be x6 with accelerated game time, right?--and with the full on day to night to day cycle. Maybe have it get foggy in the early hours of the next day.

I would hope one could pause to take breaks and do it in like a weeks time?Pretty sure it does have to be 24 hours real time. I am too old for that. My poor elderly mind would cease functioning and my eyes would fallout.
Still, a challenge is a challenge.
menace-uk- What do you mean by MODE 3?Change it, change it ASAP. I found the defaults horrible.
For Formula racing I am using this
Mode 3
Steering Dead Zone - 0
Steering Sensitivity - 0
Throttle Dead Zone - 0
Throttle sensitivity - 35
Brake Dead Zone - 0
Brake Sensitivity - 20
Speed sensitivity - 65
Control filtering - 50
Advanced -on
Steering dampener - on
* the other 2 settings in advanced I have off*
I've been playing it off and on for a few hours today and initial impressions are not good. The sense of reward just isn't there at all. Forza/GT kinda have gimmicky seasons I'll admit, but at least there is some sense of accomplishment, but this is so barebones its boring me to tears. I mean its awesome to be able to get these monsters under control and tame them, but after that its just same old hat over and over.
Not to mention the AI just isn't really fun to race against, they aren't as dumb as some reviews have pointed out, but they just seem super simple and play bumper cars almost ever race. I was watching the AI in qualifying, switching back and forth and they were all holding the same line with same behaviors.
+Visuals can be amazing
+Handling(difficult but engaging)
+Variety of tracks
+Sound
-No sense of reward
-AI
-Menus
-Pit stops look like complete ass
-Glitches
I'll give it another go tomorrow, but for now its a good game, just not really engaging me.
I totally disagree.
The sense of accomplishment comes from having a good race. This isn't the sort of game where you put AI on easy to win every race because you have to grind for cash & cars. This is a game where you set the difficulty higher and improve your racing ability and get a sense of achievement from skill progression. Plus, in career it greatly improves sense of achievement as you hit the next tier of racing class.
Oh I get what its doing, there is zero confusion, it just didn't last for me. I felt the sense of accomplishment, starting out barely able to wrestle the car around the first turn, then pushed my way to 1st place after trail and error, it felt awesome, even going into the next tier was great, but sadly I'm completely over it already. Its just wash and repeat that same formula over and over, learn a car, practice, qualify, repeat, go to the next tier.
Usually it takes me a week or two to get bored in these situations, maybe if the pit stops were more engaging and realistic. I'd rather have an invisible pit crew then the way this game handles that visually, not to mention they just repeat the same old issues "lost a nut, electrical engine malfunction." blah blah, also the crew leader's advice is silly and repeated over and over. Now if that element of the game was ace, then I'd be all over this, but its just embarrassingly bad. Also, the AI is r******d when pitting, I was in 3rd place earlier and the top 2 guys ahead of me pitted on the last lap LOL, thanks for the sense of accomplishment AI bros.
However, it is a fun game is great at its core, not taking that away from it.
What are you racing in and what AI difficulty you using?
I get what the game is doing, I'm not confused I assure you, I don't need to be told "you need to race more tiers" when I feel forced to do so. That's not gaming for me. The AI I tried on all levels out of curiosity.
Menace, been using your recommended control inputs with the amateur formula still. Been consistently getting 1:26 laps on Snetterton during practice. May not be awesome, but I am happy working on that. I am still a bit twitchy trying to hold a straight line at times...just tippity tapping the stick a wee bit jerks my car, but mostly getting it straight. It feels good being able to take the corners now and control the gas and brake properly with your settings. BTW, I tested brake and steering assist? OMG, that is horrible, at least in my experience. Never use that. With my default settings, fuel and tire wear was off. I set them to slow this morning, but I think I am going to change them to real tonight.
+ I like that little bits of rubber that come off the tires visually
+ I like that the career takes you on practice rounds, then qualifying rounds then race rounds
+ I like that they added helmet cam, but I resort back to cockpit cam
+ I like the realism of open wheel when an AI wheel can roll their wheel up under yours and it lifts you up
+ I love the sense of accomplishment. It is a different accomplishment than unlocking a car, or achievements. It's an accomplishment of skill
+ Plethora of adjustments and menu options that let you dial in soooo much stuff. Overwhelming, but better there than not
+ Online was pretty much lag free when playing a Kart race, great setup options, easy to use lobby
- Still not sold on car selection, but I am not complaining about the existing cars we have nor quantity. I just wanted a few more American cars
- Menus are pretty crappy to be honest. They seem like an after thought. The selection where you choose laps, time etc in the career screen at bottom is like DOS old school, with a scissors cut out line separating the sections
- AI is "ok", but still does the occasional intentional RAM even if you are following the line. Too many times have the AI did the ROLL UP or UNDER on my wheels
- Not sure how to export any of my replays, screenshots to share with others (I can access them, but I cant share)....so it must not be very intuitive?
- Not sure how to see others in my Drivers Network to compare with others....so it must not be very intuitive?
Did you access the Xbox Store from within the game? Like 4 free downloads already. When the patch hits that twitchy issue should be gone, which means the settings will likely change a fair bit. Hopefully the patch will land this week.
I love helmet cam. I turned the DOF off though as it makes using your mirrors a pain. I also toned down some of the movement, like look to corner & sway.
I agree on the menus, certainly not the best, but they are functional.
With the AI you need to be aggressive and defensive. Always try to cover that inside line as an outside pass in most corners will be fruitless. But yeah, they do do(he he) silly stuff from time to time.
As for replays & pics, I have not tried to do it but I think you have to use upload studio. No clue how it works exactly, maybe you need to snap the app? On PS4 you just use the share button.
As for cars, yeah. There are a lot of cars I would have liked to be in day one, but I would gladly scarice them for the individual personalities the cars have at the moment.Plus, they will be giving us free cars each month and we will get DLC as well.

So, I just did an awesome 15 laps round Road America with the GR.A class cars(The BMW E30, Merc 190E, and Sierra RS500) and my god was that a competitive, nerve tingling, sweat producing 36 minute experience
Funny thing, I tuned tweaked my car set a little before racing, made the suspension a bit stiffer, lowered ride-height, stiffened sway bars, moved weight balance forward a little, and increased the watergate pressure from 2.70bar to 2.80 bar. This thing was like a rocket on the straights and exiting corners. Unfortunately, after around 10 laps it seemed to have a negative effect on my tires & brakes. The brakes were overheating and locking and my tires were losing grip. The last 5 laps were hair raising.
I went from 9(out of 14) at the start, to second by about the 6 lap, and ended up in 5th come the end. Awesome race, just awesome.
Now I am wet....
Rockin' the American tracks...I wuv it!My man member felt like it had taken 10 viagra.
I think I will do 30 laps on Watkins Glen next.

While sourcing a random fact for a completely different article,PretendRaceCars.net readers appear to have stumbled upon something…interesting… regarding Assetto Corsa’s future. On the second page of developer Giovanni Romagnolli’s linkedin account, he mentions Playstation 4 Assetto Corsa graphic engine conversion as one of his accomplishments during his time spent at Kunos.
The possibility of Assetto Corsa landing on Sony’s new console is only backed up by this picture posted a year ago by Marco Massarutto showing several PS4 devkits within the Kunos Simulazioni Vallelunga offices.
The full discussion where this news originated can be viewed on the official Assetto Corsa forums, and I’m sure we will hear something concrete sooner rather than later given how active the developers are within the community. While I’m personally not excited at AC becoming a multi-platform game, it would be a smart business decision for Kunos to expand to the PS4, as they would capitalize on users who were disappointed by the disastrous launch of rival racing simulation Project CARS.
