PS4 voice commands limited at launch.

I think the whole thing is two fold

1) They'll improve it over time, so it will get better.
from the article- During an event in New York, Sony toldEngadget it plans to add Kinect-style functionality to the PS4 over time, rather than have it available at launch.

2) I think if it becomes a big deal for the X1, they'll start to focus more and more on the commands and the camera.

How much time is my question mate? I plan on picking up the cam with my PS4 so it can be placed with our second television. I'm a bit spoiled now from using the first Kinect (will be probably moreso when the XO arrives), so I really dont want to go back to using the controller to control my content that way, you know? It just feels sort of ancient now to do so....

Edit: Sony said they HOPE to have these options available in the future. Voice commands should be expected with these cameras' now, in my opinion.

Being that they haven't advertised a lot of voice content for the camera (or any) I wouldn't have expected much at launch or even ever to be honest. We'll see how it goes but I don't see them putting a ton of effort into it unless the camera sells decently.

I don't think anyone can answer how quickly they would add more voice commands. Like i said earlier, i think it will depend how much people like it with the X1. In other words i don't expect Sony to push it unless motivated to do so.

If its a big deal for you, i would just stick with the X1 for both of your TVs.

Pfft. If Uncharted or Last of Us were on the XO I would. Those are the two games I'm getting the Ps4...for! lol.

edited happy.

Frankly, I brought up the topic because I am fan of voice and motion control simply because of what it offers in games and using certain apps. This is a big deal to me and my family. If you don't agree, I dont give a s***. But I'm not appreciating the news myself mate. Oh wait...

Its negative PS4 news so I'm trolling then? Pfft. Gimme a break. o_O Tell Sony to get on the ball.

keep telling yourself that

It's obvious Sony is still trying to catch up when it comes to voice. While Sony was a bit laxed, Microsoft released Kinect and was on point about making the device an absolute viable alternative for GUI navigation. It may just be me, but Sony always seems to be one step behind when it comes to GUI functionality.

I like you Mcmasters, but I tend to agree that given who you are this thread takes on a different tone than it would if someone like A7Mad posted it. It's just perception is all.

I am full of agree on every part of that.

Despite how it comes off or appears, I stand by what I said. Frankly Seven, I'm not concerned with appearances mate. But I did find the topic interesting and thought I would post it in the proper thread. That was my entire thought process on the matter from beginning to end. And as I felt it was worthy of discussion, the last thought in my mind was if there was a some motive behind it and anyone judgement of me for posting it.

To suggest that I shouldnt post a particular article because of how I will be perceived for doing so is ridiculous to say the least. I havent offended anyone (aside from those who have taken offense) and I've not posted anything offensive or pervasive. If you can't look past your own speculation about my reasons, with all due respect, have the decency not to judge.

The only ones who have taken offense are Sony gamers. But I'll be one myself next year as I've stated numerous times. Refrain from the name calling Vik. Don't get so emotional.

Its just an article. Just sayin...o_O You mates act like I wrote the article.

Not sure if this has been posted but if not, I figure its a topic for discussion. I'm concerned because I want to be able to do so once I have my PS4, personally mates. Here's the link: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...gamer&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=net-daily

I'll bite, and here is why. That PS4 voice commands are limited is not the point. The point is that voice commands on PS4 are irrelevant, and here is why.

The PS4 has no room mic. You have to issue voice commands to the PS4 from your headset mic. Since the
PS4 has no multi-tasking capability this literally serves no point other than to put a check box on the has features white paper. Once you have your control in your hand and your headset mounted it is literally more effort to say "Playstation launch Kill Zone Shadow Fall" than it is to simply navigate the menu and launch the game.

PS4 voice commands literally serve no purpose. PS4 fan will care less about PS4 voice controls than I do.

Am I the only mofo who just wants to control his system with the damn controller? I don't want to yell at my console.

They need to go ahead and focus on that and leave the AR stuff alone.

The PS4 lacks the feature set to enable you to yell at your console, it has no microphone. In the case of the PS4 you are required to yell at your controller. Which gives this "feature" and extra level of Sony copying Microsoft again douchbaggery....

Oh God no! Don't bite!

Apparently the article was used in a conspiracy against the Ps4 and you will be perceived as trolling as if you actually wrote the article yourself according to some of the conspiracy theorists and Judge Dreads around this place mate. f*** sakes.

Which is kind of bullcrap if you think about it.

I don't expect any of the Sony fans except for A7 to post such an article.
I appreciate all the news positive or negative about both consoles.

Whatever you say bud.

Its a binary topic. People either do or they don't. Its why i find it a silly topic. PS4 isn't worse for not focusing on it. And X1 isn't worse for focusing on it. Both focused on different things, which i think is great.

I tend to be like you. I'll use the controller for most things the PS4 voice commands would even cover. If a game used it in a way i like, i would try it.

Hey man no offense intended, was just saying I could see why it might be perceived as trolling, not trying to judge or say you were

Wong answer! The Correct answer is "Hey but I wear my blu-tooth mic around all the time anyhow!", oh wait, nevermind, you were right

Understood. And I could care less if its perceived as trolling as that was NOT the point of me posting the article. Check my post history and see how many Sony TROLL posts or threads I've created. You won't find any. I simply don't TROLL the Sony forums!

f*** sakes, if this was something that was a constant, I could see some of the back lash on it, but as it stands (and how it remains) the whole judgement crap was completely unwarranted. Some of the mates here are a bit too sensitive. But whateve.... I'm over it.
