I haven't used steam since Half Life 2 came out and I've received 2 emails about some russian ip address trying to access my account.

Nintendo has reported an increase in sales and operating income for the three months between April and June 2015.

The company reported sales for the quarter were $730 million, which is an increase of 20 percent compared to the same period last year. Nintendo's operating income, meanwhile, was $9.2 million, which is also up on the $76.5 million for the same period last year.

According to Nintendo, Splatoon, which it says "contributed to vitalizing the Wii U platform," and "favourable sales" of its Amiibo figures contributed to the company's improved performance.

Looking ahead, Nintendo highlighted key releases such as Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, and The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes as key upcoming titles that will "further expand the Nintendo 3DS business."

For the Wii U, Nintendo is aiming to "maintain the performance of already-released titles with strong sales potential by introducing additional download content," as well as relying on titles such as Super Mario Maker, Star Fox Zero and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash.

The line of available Amiibo "will continue to expand," and at the same time Nintendo is aiming to "stimulate demand from owners of the Nintendo 3DS by releasing the NFC Reader/Writer accessory."

Smartphones applications were also mentioned as an expected new source of revenue.

Elsewhere in its earning report, Nintendo confirmed sales of the Wii U have surpassed 10 million units.

Despite technical challenges, Microsoft continues to work on streaming PC games to Xbox One, head of Xbox Phil Spencer told The Verge.

"It's actually a little more challenging doing the encoding on the PC side to the Xbox, but challenge is good," Spencer said, adding that PC control mainstays like keyboard and mouse support are "absolutely in scope of things that we want to do."

Windows 10, which launches today, includes built-in support for the opposite: streaming Xbox One games to PC. Microsoft revealed the feature in January, and Spencer said at the time that Microsoft was "really looking at" streaming the other way.

"People ask about the streaming in the opposite direction — can I stream from my PC to my Xbox? — and I'll just say...

That won't threaten Steam.

This is probably just for windows 10 type games and therefor, would offer only a select few games.

Is this for all pc games, or just a select few? What about games that don't support controller, will it support mouse/keyboard?
Lots of questions.

For the bolded part.

Since it's streaming I don't believe there would/could be a restriction on the games. All games go the other way without any tinkering (Xbox to PC) I believe.

This would me monumental if Microsoft can pull this off and it's usable.

That won't threaten Steam.

Agreed.

Meh, it will just end up probably some remote access for everything on Windows 10...probably giving you access to play and display Steam games on the Xbox as well.[/QUOTE]

Can't be THAT challenging considering they didn't even think BC was EVER going to be possible.

Wrong.

Ah, Sony zealots... so quick to judge, and so often mistaken.

They already have the Wireless Display App. It's decent for most things at the moment, though gaming isn't one of them. I'm wondering if they will make a completely new solution or just make a new performance mode specifically for gaming to achieve lower latency. Their solution for Xbox to PC game streaming is perfect IMO, so I'm hoping they nail this as well.

Wrong.

Wrong, I'm a PC zealot....get it right.

I don't see MS threatening Steam...just don't see it happening. For starters, pc gamers that love Steam....are pc gamers. They're not suddenly going to want to become console gamers......to play pc games. This service is going to appeal to console gamers that want to play some pc games as well.

Steam subscriptions utterly destroy xbox subscritions, even a bump in xbox sales due to this streaming won't be enough to have Steam hiding in fear.

There are so many unknowns to this "we'd like to try this service" that no one can make a claim that Steam could be threatened. Hell, we don't even know the pricing model for streaming games via MS, which, knowing MS, will be higher than Steam (based on MS store sales).

Steam has been sitting in a great spot, and that spot is not about to be threatened any time soon.

Why not just plug the pc into the TV-IN port on the Xbox One and have instant streaming?

Or better yet, if you have a cheap laptop, just plug that in, since you could already stream Steam games (for those that don't have an XB1).

...aaand another quick judgment that's incorrect.

I wasn't referring to your assessment of Steam. :)

As was your quick assessment of me as a ps zealot.

It's a valid judgment I made, I doubt MS will make all the games that steam makes available through MS's streaming service.

Ahhhh, Xbox zealots, so quick to imagine an Xbox service being better than what it really is.

Mark my words, the pc game selection will be limited "if" the streaming service is via an MS storefront. If not, and it's just streaming from another pc in the house, then no big whoop to steam, as you'd still need that service to provide the games.

Either way you cut it, it's no threat to Steam.

steam will be what they do best but where im getting at if this is able to have people make games that is cross platform its easier to do it under MS marketplace so gamers do t have to buy the game twice. Also keep it on xbox live network.

This is just another way to reach people and what SONY fears the most. The tv service SONY have is nothing but a failure.

How did that whole SONY and Value go on the PS3? Again no matter what you want to believe. Its a threat. Why you think Value was upset about the marketplace on Windows 8.

You were initially talking about Steam, why are you bringing up PS?

I've stated the reasons why steam has nothing to worry about. There's nothing in his announcement that should make anyone think that this will be a threat to steam in anyway.

Are you that clueless? He said NOTHING about Sony.
Besides there is nothing MS can do to threaten the PS4's dominance this gen but buy Sony.

he's just an insecure xbox "zealot". My post had nothing to do with PS in anyway, nor did it have anything to do with bashing the announcement. It had everything to do with commenting on the comment regarding a threat to steam.

Also, to the OP other statement of changing the landscape of PC gaming....no to that as well. PC gamers like....playing on pc, and on a monitor. PC gamers can already play on the large screen, but most do not. Most pc gamers like playing on monitor, and using a keyboard and mouse. Even if MS allows keyboard and mouse on the XB1, keyboard/mouse won't work well when sitting from a distance on a couch.

If they can get the service to work well, with no lag, then fantastic....but I don't see it as being a threat to steam, nor do I see it changing the landscape of PC gaming. PC gamers will still pc game, and console gamers will still console game.

well not now or within a year yes i do agree with you. What IF MS is getting more games that developers want to cover both platforms under MS on xbox and win10. MS is going to give them the best offer and tools to make their work seamless as possible to get it under MS umbrella.

XBOX is to deep in windows 10, they are going to make something work. Services is by far the most important thing.

you're missing the point. PC gamers are pc gamers....because they live playing games on pc. PC gamers like to invest in things like hardware, keyboards, mice, etc.
No doubt is streaming to an XB1 good news, to console gamers that want to game on the big screen, but it doesn't mean much to PC gamers. Hell, Steam already allows streaming, and that's there entire library.
Awesome news for those that look forward to something like this, but it's not going to "change the landscape" of pc gaming. PC gaming or rather, pc gamers, at it's core, have not changed much throughout the years. Consoles come and go. Streaming tech comes and goes. etc. but in the end, PC gamers for the most part, are going to want to game on their high res monitors with little input lag, with their ultra precise mice and keyboards.
PC gamers that want to play on the big screen, can and already do so. Not much is changing with this news. Replace XB1 with cheap laptop for streaming, and it's really no different.

That's not even getting into the value for gaming that Steam provides for it's customers. There are so many variables that have made steam so successful, even origin and other services can't compete. There's no way, in the XB1's life, that MS will provide a service and value that will be a threat to Steam.

Streaming games are awful, whether it's over your own network or over the internet, whether it's console or PC.

And I heard that streaming XB to pc had a tad bit lag, making it not optimal for online gaming....so I would imagine in reverse, there'd be some king of lag from pc to XB.

It'll be a neat feature for some, but it's not going to change much. I can't begin to say how often I've heard "changing landscape of gaming" from kinect, BC, big screen, etc.

PC gamers have been gaming this way for many years, streaming to some box isn't going to change a ton in regards to pc gaming.
