Viable if it could run Steam games and if it didn't need a PC for those who couldn't afford a gaming PC.

But you're not going to get steam games. Heck, you'd be lucky if it even streams games at high settings well.

Because they are people who don't want to have PC and want a console I stead. Not everyone want to be "PC master race."

If I go to the shore I want to take my Xbox instead of my pc.

Or better yet, if you have a cheap laptop, just plug that in, since you could already stream Steam games (for those that don't have an XB1).
Really a laptop? Console are designed to go with the whole living room setup not a tower or laptop.

Absolutely.....but console gamers have console games for that. This isn't going to change things for pc gamers, nor will it, again, be a threat to steam.

I'm not bashing the service, I just find it odd that anyone would think that a console with less than 15 million units and potentially much less games than steam and is struggling to compete with another console with less features, is somehow going to be a threat to a service that has over 100 million subscribers.

Because more people have laptops than Xbox one.
This service will appeal to console gamers, but pc gamers...already have PCs. The amount of people this will appeal to is minuscule compared to how many pc gamers there are.

Aren't they adding mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One? If they can get streaming to work both ways this is huge. Windows 10 being able to steam Xbox One is already a selling factor. Already have a friend who swore off Xbox after the disastrous E3 getting one for that plus the backwards compatibility.

I'm very sensitive to delay, so streaming games will always be terrible to me. To me, Killzone 2 on PS3 was basically unplayable because of the non responsive controls. That's kinda how I feel like all streaming games feel.

Wrong, I'm a PC zealot....get it right.

I don't see MS threatening Steam...just don't see it happening. For starters, pc gamers that love Steam....are pc gamers. They're not suddenly going to want to become console gamers......to play pc games. This service is going to appeal to console gamers that want to play some pc games as well.

Steam subscriptions utterly destroy xbox subscritions, even a bump in xbox sales due to this streaming won't be enough to have Steam hiding in fear.

There are so many unknowns to this "we'd like to try this service" that no one can make a claim that Steam could be threatened. Hell, we don't even know the pricing model for streaming games via MS, which, knowing MS, will be higher than Steam (based on MS store sales).

Steam has been sitting in a great spot, and that spot is not about to be threatened any time soon.
You seem to not be understanding what this is. It's streaming from PC to Xbox. This has nothing to do with pricing, cloud or anything outside of your house. It's your PC to your Xbox One streaming. It's how Sony streams to Vita.

If it's PC to Xbox......then once again, it's not a threat to Steam. If anything, if it's PC to xbox, rather than MS offering an online streaming of pc games, you'd still need Steam, Origin, etc.

I was wrong on the streaming part, as I thought it was about MS offering a streaming service of PC games housed on their servers, but in the end, my initial point was that it wouldn't be a threat to Steam, and you clarifying what MS would be providing reinforces that.

I was correcting you on your incorrect understanding that this would be some sort of pay service.

It's not a threat to Steam since they are in no way related and would require Steam to be successful.

I understand now. The only reason why I thought it would be some sort of pay service, was because of the comment made that it would be a threat to Steam. It's an honest misunderstanding based on what was being said.

That was your first mistake. [HASHTAG]#justsaying[/HASHTAG]

That's one of the reasons why I'm not crazy about playing pc games on the large screen with keyboard/mouse....I really feel the delay using a mouse. Hell, even with a controller, I sense the delay, it's one of the reasons why I play console games on a pc monitor....in mp games, I feel like I have that edge.

he's just an insecure xbox "zealot". My post had nothing to do with PS in anyway, nor did it have anything to do with bashing the announcement. It had everything to do with commenting on the comment regarding a threat to steam.

Also, to the OP other statement of changing the landscape of PC gaming....no to that as well. PC gamers like....playing on pc, and on a monitor. PC gamers can already play on the large screen, but most do not. Most pc gamers like playing on monitor, and using a keyboard and mouse. Even if MS allows keyboard and mouse on the XB1, keyboard/mouse won't work well when sitting from a distance on a couch.

If they can get the service to work well, with no lag, then fantastic....but I don't see it as being a threat to steam, nor do I see it changing the landscape of PC gaming. PC gamers will still pc game, and console gamers will still console game.

If anything, it's good for Steam, because it provides more ways to play Steam games :p
It would be great because I don't really like playing on my computer, but it would be great to have the Steam library at my fingertips. Good for MS. Good for Steam. Good for Gamers. At least, as long as it applies to anything playing on PC and isn't limited.

But KZ2 has HORRIBLE input lag without streaming

What people don't seem to realize is that Nintendo continues to print money. They're not going anywhere. Sucks for the people who are rooting for them to go out of business. Super Mario Maker is going to sell a lot of consoles.

Driveclub has apparently sold pretty well.

Driveclub has sold over 2 million copies, developer Evolution has announced. Game director Paul Rustchynsky shared the happy news on Twitter along with an image of a custom made award.

Here it is with two platinum discs.

Rustchynsky added the figure was reached before the PlayStation Plus Edition became available for free. Which means the game reached the milestone in about eight months.
