Mind boggling that they didn't wait to release until this was done. Wonder if it would've died as fast if it had 60fps from start.
People who claim 60fps as a deal breaker tend to show they are full of crap. Just look at Dried after all his 60fps BS just pick up BG3 with no issues or second thought.

The game is essentially a Single Player game with CO-OP. These always die fairly quick.

Most gamers (casuals) don't know the difference between 30 and 60 fps. In fact, most gamers don't even know frame rates exist.

It needed better marketing for one. And the reviews were not down on the fps. They were down on the game play/story.

Yeah, idk man. A FPS game released in 2023 only on newest gen platforms with so-so graphics and not have a 60 fps mode doesn't look great for PR... it's not 2005 when the twitter and the likes couldn't spell doom for a release like now.

Better late than never. They probably had deadlines to meet so couldn't optimize for it ahead of launch. Hopefully the PC version also got smoother performance updates. I suspect Starfield will get the same treatment / updates in the near future.
And what is wrong with Starfield? That it doesn't do 60fps?

Nothing. Just that it will probably get the same 60 fps patch once they get around to it. I'm sure some people would appreciate having that option.

How is that any different for other games.

The game was optimized across the board, which means PC and Xbox. DF was showing that the game on PC was 50% faster then previously. It's an astronomical difference.

CPU optimization matters folks.

That's awesome news. It's time for us to get back into this then since they've optimized it better now. Does it have DLSS?

Racing and fps should be played in 60fps at this point... that can't be just my opinion?

Most games should have the option for 60fps now... especially since this is a current gen only experience. Creative decision for 30fps is a stop gap excuse , otherwise how can they patch in 60 fps now and have it run proper? It was always down to prioritizing, time and resources.

Yes, it has DLSS2 and 3.

Why? The "negative" impacts of 30fps is the same across all games and genres.

I played Assetto Corsa Comptetizone and Forza Motorsport @ 30fps and they are perfectly fine. I even went back and fourth online in FM to see if 30fps had any real impact on competitiveness and it had zero impact. @30fps has a benefit/plus too, greater sense of speed.

So why should these games be played at 60fps?

Why stop at 60fps? 120fps is better, so why aren't all games 120fps? Why are you settling for a mere 60fps??

It is one thing to have a preference. It is a very different thing putting out the idea that 30fps is some unplayable state that completely ruins a game.

Imo, that's not true at all.
Play a turn based strategy game and I think most would prefer higher res and fidelity before framerate, same with many third person adventure games. Twitch shooters and racing games would give a huge advantage if played at 60fps and it would feel much better to play, a turn based strategy game, not so much.

It literally isn't true at all, play Cyberpunk on consoles on the 30fps RT mode vs the 60fps performance mode, you will notice a world's of difference in input response alone.

If you can't tell the difference in smoothness, and game responsiveness between 30 and 60, than good for you, you're a very casual gamer. A game at 30fps is half as responsive as a game at 60, that's a technical fact and is undisputable.

This whole reply was pointless.

1. It is true.
2. Nobody said there wasn't a difference.
3. Nobody disputed that.

Lol.

It's not true, if it wasn't then why would Forza limit online races to 60fps between console and PC? They literally stated because of competitive advantage reasons. Lmao.

Turn 10 even says it's not true.

At low levels of competition, 30 fps might not make a difference but at high levels of course.

Why else are top pro gamers preferring to play at 1080p / 240hz and 360hz monitors ? Every frame counts in those high intensity gaming situations.

I think most can agree having the option for 60 fps is much appreciated on consoles seeing how this gen started off making 60 fps a key standard in most games... As to whether you prefer 30 or 60. Most would want 60 in a input responsive sensitive game. For strategy or narrative stories ? Some would want higher fidelity. All up for preference in those cases but if you're competing, no doubt, 60 fps is where you want to be or if your eyes bleed from the choppy 30.

It is true. I know it is because I have been doing it. LMAO.

They didn't limit it to 60fps because you can play at 30fps. Lol. Why do that if it is such a competitive advantage

Because that's your choice and an option on console, consoles don't have the option for anything above 60fps, but PCs do, they legit locked it to 60 online because of competitive reasons.

I'm assuming that 90 or 120fps or higher isn't an advantage to 60fps since we're saying that doubling the framerate doesn't have any competitive advantage, correct? Turn 10 says you're wrong.
