Yeah...a bit pathetic really how some folks started to have Cerny avatars, saying he's the best thing that has ever happened. Same with folks that have Tretton avatars or anyone from MS,thing is...i havent seen someone with a MS person avatar yet.

Wow....that is hall of fame worthy. lol.

This was filmed Friday so its not got anything to do with what he said over the weekend.

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and is heard, no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

Yeah, many tales full of sound and fury being told lately... It's actually diminishing my enjoyment of the console launch season. Has it always been this way, or is it worse this time around? It's been 8 years since the last one; I can't remember.

I think it just seems worse due to the proliferation of the internet, it allows the fanboy rages to wage hotter than ever before.

The nastiness if by far worse this time around. The 360 launch was a happy time.

I think ultimately it's because people waited 8 years for new hardware and expected more than what we're getting.

I think it's mostly the web/social media stuff, which seems to allow BS and hate to spread more quickly. I also think it has something to do with the fact that the Xbox and PS consoles are launching in close proximity. That's never happened before. These two big competitors have always been separated by a year, before this. But this round, they are only a week apart, so the sense of competition is keener, and the fanboy bickering is amplified.

Correctly leaked? lol sorry but no official confirmation has been given to make his leak correct, he just leaked it..that's all
Really, baseless and unsubstantiated rumors can hardly be called "leaks". Actually Yossarian, I've been making a round robin of all the sites I frequent, and have no knowledge of the specific case you mentioned.

Doesn't matter. The brothers Yo are in that same class of truthseekers as Intelli and Neo - the only burden of proof required to make something regurgitated somewhere qualify as "truth" is how it scores on the MS v Sony scorecard.

It's definitely not mellowed with age. It's been like this since the launch of the first Xbox, and has festered, over time. It's bewildering how people can have an almost religious fervor over their console loyalty, and want to make war on the "unbelievers". I remember experiencing Sony fanboyism eleven years ago for the first time, and wondering what in the world was going on. Now the Xbox has it's own legion of like-minded zealots.

360 was dead on arrival according to most and the PS3 was 4x more powerful!

It's a bit more dramatic these days IMO.. everything on the internet is more dramatic.

It's not just fanboys anymore.. it's a huge percentage of gamers just acting unreasonable even if it isn't under the guise of fanboyism.

Some of it is more of the same.. but IMO there's definitely something different about it all. The entire world is a bit different than it was 8 years ago.

Yes I think you've put your "finger" on it. Smartphones create easy internet access, and there's been a proliferation of thumb-typers in the forums and social media.

LOL. And Wii was DOA too. Even many game sites picked it apart as weak with a stupid name Wii. But sold like hotcakes and still 20M more than 360/PS3 despite Wii majorly fizzling out in sales since around 2010-2011.

I'm of the opinion that you can quote Wii sales figures all you like, but the real question is how many of those ended up collecting dust?

It sold because it was the hot new toy. But as is always the problem with Nintendo consoles, third-party support starts out strong, and then dwindles as time goes on. Devs don't want to be forced to take an existing multiplatform title and shoe-horn in some unnecessary gameplay mechanic that caters to whatever niche controller or system function Nintendo has devised this time. Nothing against Nintendo, they've pretty much been doing their own thing since the Gamecube, but I think that has a large part to do with how much ground Microsoft and Sony gained in that time.

Another factor, is that third-party devs don't like having to compete with the console manufacturer for software sales. Nintendo puts out so many first-party games (and these are games which always utilize the aforementioned niche controllers better than a third-party dev ever could), that it's an uphill battle for software sales if your name isn't Nintendo. This isn't so much an issue for Microsoft and Sony because in the big picture, they put out comparitively few of their own titles that 3rd-party games don't suffocate under a tidal wave of first-party games. Therefore, a publisher is better off spending money funding a multiplatform title for the two big consoles.

tl;dr - Wii sucks. (kidding) ;)

I remember hearing on the radio that Sony was going to release a game console, of all things! Not only that, they were giving it the silly name PlayStation, which I thought people would confuse with Play Doh. Apparently they didn't!*LOL*

And what the heck is an Atari 2600? Who knows. Big seller.

The funny thing about that is that the Playstation originated as a CD-ROM add-on for the SNES (srsly, look up SNES-CD on wikipedia). Some stuff happened, Nintendo wasn't really into it, and Sony decided to go ahead with it on their own. So we have Nintendo to thank for arguably one of the greatest brands in gaming history.

And I too thought Playstation was a silly name for a console when I first heard it. But not as silly as "Xbox". Just goes to show, you can get used to near any name. Regardless of how silly it may sound at first.

And the "Weee." I thought that name choice was so absurd, it would doom it to a lifetime of ridicule. Not even close. People stopped making jokes pretty quickly, and now it's considered a huge success (well, mostly).

Absofragginlutely!:)

And how about Vita? Weird name. It's the name of a salty cracker here. Unless you know Latin, it doesn't mean much. And look at its sales. It's a big time sel..... oh wait. I take that back. There are times correlations work and the stars align.
