And you wonder why nobody here takes you serious. Maybe if you didn't spew out endless lie after lie you would hold some credibility here. Until then your posts are just wasted space with a touch of entertainment.

And yet I'm generally accepted as the most intelligent member of UnionVGF. I realize that's not saying much but you should maybe put that in your posts going forward.

Why can't we have people congratulating Microsoft on such an achievement?
Where is that?

Frankly I'm shocked they sold that much considering how rampant the widespread negativity/resolution gating/ going on.
Why can't people be happy for healthy console growth even if you don't like said console.

Nope. Instead we have people who can't enter a thread without taking potshots and crapping on it all.
This is why we can't have nice things.

It is obvious Sony is still leading worldwide in sales, and that merits constructive discussion, but damnit some of you folks need to put your bias aside and acknowledge an incredible feat when it is executed.
Microsoft dominated. Nothing more can be said and nothing less can be argued.
I gave up on trying to point to a bright side for gaming on an xbox system months ago. Everything related to that brand is crap and always would be. That was all that was posted day after day (in the xbox section even) from the same folks. Too many kids get offended when time is wasted not praying @ the alter of their preferred plastic box or spreading subjective preference elsewhere.

There is no grey area like I like gaming in general on whatever system. Just remember Bungie and their games were a joke until destiny came to playstation. Destiny is Bungie's lowest reviewed game I believer ever. This is an important point since reviews have only favoured the PS in arguments they use for some type of leverage of this crap behaviour.

Microsoft is basically giving Xbox ones away. They're taking a massive hit on each console sold, which isn't healthy.

Any proof on your part or is your word still gospel?

Sony knows how to run a respectable operation. It's time to salute them for it.

I salute Sony for their massive turnaround from their arrogant PS3 launch. I mean they had a solid plan in every phase.

But Microsoft putting more Xbox One's in homes will be healtier in the long run for them.

Not necessarily. If Microsoft continues selling consoles for a considerable loss and they keep getting outsold by Sony's PS4, then it's definitely not healthy for them.

You want your product to sell based on its value to the customer, not because you're willing to slash it's price until it sells. The Xbox One is simply second tier at this point.

Give Hard Land (Smilebit from the TXB days) credit to squeeze in any kind of anti-MS gospel. When MS sales shoot through the roof dominating NPD, he deviates from the discussion at hand (November NPD) and then focuses on promotions, deals and how it hits the income statement (profitability). LOL. Since he's now turned into an accountant, he should give some advice on how Sony should turn around it's annual billion dollar losses which have been going on for years. Give it another few years, and it'll be around a decade of annual billion losses.

Give him credit. He tries so hard.... pun intended. lol

Sorry I don't want to pick on you @ this point but do you have any proof of this? You do know this gen started last year and both were making profit/console sold right? The price of production comes down that is why we get price drops. I don't want to pick on you but common sense doesn't support your claims of so much doom and gloom for a xb1 price drop.

The console should have never been priced where it was at launch. So its value is subjective.

If you don't think that Microsoft had a plan to reduce costs if their overpriced console didn't fly off the shelves, then I don't know what to tell you.

Someone: MS needs to do something to catch Sony in USA. They need to drop price below PS4 because its lesser technology.

MS drops price and gives two games free which Sony follows by giving two free games.

MS outsells Sony easily

Someone: Pfft. MS is desperate. They had to give away consoles. Sony still wins.
And don't forget:

- MS outsold Sony in Nov NPD (sources included)
- But who cares, PS4 sold more WW (no sources)
- And MS is losing tons of money on X1 deals while Sony isn't (no sources)

Twelve months ago, the base Xbox One unit (without Kinect) cost MS roughly $400 dollars to manufacture. Today, they're selling the console for $350 dollars and packing in two and three games for free.

Yeah, that's a considerable loss.

Just to show you how world class Sony is, the PS4 only cost Sony $381 dollars to produce more powerful hardware twelve months ago. Sony knows what they're doing.

http://venturebeat.com/2013/11/29/t...sts-381-and-why-this-matters-in-the-long-run/

Lastly, no offense but you're in no position to "pick on me". The alpha primate doesn't feel threatened by lesser animals. If there's anything else you want me to teach you, just let me know.

The funny thing is that X1 at $500 at launch included Kinect. As people expected, if MS released a standalone system to go head to head with the PS4 standalone it would probably be around $400.... which it was exactly at: $400.

So all MS had to do was chip down that $400 standalone a measly $50 and toss in a few free Ass Creed games and magic. Big time sales. And one of the games was last year's Black Flag game which can be bought in the bargain bin. Also, some people probably think getting two free games coming from the same series is overkill. Typically, multi game bundles are spread across different kinds of games.

Sony stood pat at $400, and had two bundles with two free recent games each (good games too including high and mighty GTA5 and LoU as the key bundle). And then a family freidnly LBP and Lego Batman bundle as an alternate choice. Yet the X1 UBI bundle outsold them by 50% 1.2M vs 800k.

Everyone with a brain knows that it would be in Microsoft's best interest to have overpriced consoles sitting on store shelves and in overstocked warehouses. Dat profits...

I don't think you understand.

No one is blaming MS for slashing prices and undercutting the PS4. It's the fact that MS had to do it that's worrisome. Microsoft is most likely going win December as well but they're still going to be a distant second in the US, UK, and as we've already established, the world. So come January here's what we have.

Microsoft armed with the knowledge that they can't compete with Sony with equal pricing.
Sony ready to cut price the moment they want if they see the market heading in an unfavorable direction.
Microsoft looking at its next 11 months as a barren wasteland as far as exclusives go.
Sony ready to unleash Bloodborne, The Order 1886, and MLB The Show on to the masses.

No matter how you look at this market, Sony has things on lock down. The only way MS get's back in this is if they're willing to keep the Xbox One significantly cheaper than the PS4 and Sony, for whatever reason, won't back down from the 399 price point. MS just doesn't have the games to bring them out of this second tier they're in.

This is called selling, even the Xbox 360 in its second year had price cuts and you could pickup the premium for £249 and core for £179. Not MS fault if Sony blew their load on them GDDR5 chips and cant afford the price cuts & bundles.

The PS4 was built with price cuts in mind, they just don't feel the need to drop the price when it is still selling so well.

It was one month, take a breath.

I don't disagree with any of that.

My area of disagreement comes from (my opinion) that Microsoft overpriced their console in the first place. So price cuts were expected fairly early.

I'm sure they were hoping that Kinect V.2 was a runaway success. But I'd be shocked if they didn't have a backup plan.

Where is a link proving MS loses a "considerable" amount per console? These are kinectless skus, so we'll need to see those figures.

I posted the link in this very thread. I'm not going to reward people too lazy to follow along.

We have no idea how much of a deal either company got on these bulk chipsets... teardowns, rumors, and educated guesses can be far from the actual number, I understand your hope that they are losing a lot stems from strong emotion, but until you post that number from MS its UNKNOWN smilebit.

Shows how little you know about business, anyone can come in guess how much I have in product, but only I know.

There's so much history, data and evidence in the past 30 years of console gaming to reasonably estimate how much these consoles cost to produce now a days. Technology pricing tends to follow observable and predictable patterns. Ignorance does not aid in your argument this time . Also, what's a smilebit and why do people keep using that word?

My congratulatory post was in the previous sales thread. I was the one following and giving up to date #'s.

It is also sad people can't joke around either without it causing a s*** storm. Lighten up people this isn't serious stuff.

What? Show data and history of these previous gens. Be specific on how this "history" directly relates to this specific generation. Show me a measly two generation connection in this vast 30 year data. Can you even do that? No. You are being completely vague and baseless in your conclusion, the bottomline is your stance is rooted in sony agenda as usual.

Funny how you concluded MS is losing a "considerable" amount on each console from a "reasonable" estimate. That's amazing.

I estimate you have no F'ing idea what you are saying.

I guess you're right.

MS is probably making between 20 and 30 dollars of profit off of these holiday bundles. Group C strikes again!

That's not the point, I don't know, it could be a $100 loss, you don't know either.
