PS4 bubble of hype is about to burst.
The so called power gap at start has shrunk to next to nothing.
Sony 1st party games are all style and no substance.

Ms on the other hand has been in 2nd gear, Dx12 is out there, give It mid year when the onslaught starts,
fable legends
tomb raider
halo 5
forza 6
quantum break
scalebound
crackdown
gears of war

this year the momentum will cary on with hit after hit.
Then will hit overdrive when they demonstrate the power of the cloud.

give it a few years and Ms will once again pioneer the way in features and Sony will scramble to catch up. Don't worry always ps5 and you can get dooped for the 5th time.

People like you make this forum unpleasant to post at. If you're over 13 years old, you should feel pretty embarrassed.

So far they are winning by ~9-10 million.

What was the gap MS on their x360 till so call don't caught up?

It works both ways.
After a year of being on the market by themselves, MS accumulated a little over 5 million gap to Sony. Within a year or a year and a half, MS increase that lead to 8 million

The down side to this is MS had an established catelog to Sony, a console that was significantly cheaper by $200, easier to code for, and a better controller for they types of games their console was aimed at. But to help rub salt deeper into that wound, MS was completely dominating the states at a 2:1 ratio for total year to date sales. Sony was dominating everywhere else, which helped them close that gap and take the their throne later on.

This gen, that advantage has been negated and their rival is now leading everywhere.

As Sony fans, do we get a badge or a ribbon or something?
I don't think people merely care about sales per se. I think it has more to do with support more than anything. The Nintendo 3DS is killing the crap out of the Vita, so instead of doing back flips over sales, you should be concentrating on the types of games taking advantage of that system. Gamers are winning because the system is being used to its potential rather than being dumb down -- especially to a smart phone.

Make sense now?

That's what I do. Concentrate on all the games.

China doesn't look like it's going to be the mass market some people thought it would be. Xbox is failing to get traction, from the sound of it. PS4 has yet to launch there, but I don't expect it will do much better.

"It seems that the Xbox One isn't doing very well in China: The company that Microsoft partnered with to sell the console has reported losses due to the deal. In October, Microsoft announced that it had sold 100,000 units at launch, which remain the only sales numbers coming out from the company for the China market. Now, BesTV, the Chinese company that was responsible for distributing the Xbox One console, has reported a loss of nearly $2.75 million with its Xbox One division."

I'm more worried about Microsoft putting out great games (new IP's or old) in a timely fashion than I am about them closing some gap that doesn't affect me as a gamer.
They're already off to a slow start. Even in comparison to Sony who also had a slow start, but now have some big games on the horizon.

Don't see what there's to be worried about. 2015 is shaping up to be a bigger gaming year for the XB1 than 2014 was.

I agree that the first half of the year is pretty slow (Ori looks amazing though) but there's going to be an onslaught during the second half of the year. Sony's bigger titles are spread out more but they would have been in a similar situation if Bloodborne and The Order didn't get delayed.

Maybe MS will have a relaunch of Halo MCC alongside this huge new patch that should be coming out next week -- well, if it has major improvements/fixes (lol).

Not surprised. On top of this, I don't think the XB1 in China has had a decent amount of new game releases since launch either.

Microsoft needs to do better if they're serious about this business. They no longer have the best third party games to use as a crutch.

They have literally no advantage to stand on anymore. If MS was going to commit to this generation, they would use their money to secure 3rd party exclusives and significantly undercut the PS4's price. They have done neither. The Xbox One really needs to be $299 at this point. The consumer doesn't see the value at $349.

What if they're fine with a 20million gap by the end of this gen? Nothing they do moves consoles outside NA anyway correct? If 100million ps4s are sold and they're only behind by 20mill who cares everyone has made money plus sony needs it more then MS anyway. Some of you guys are too desperate to spin it into something of a big deal when it really isn't.

Not sure I understand. What should they do better? They have a lot of stuff set for this year... it's just that the majority of it is for the second half of this year.

I don't see how anyone could say that they aren't serious about the business; especially once the full lineup for 2015 gets announced. This year will rival 2006/2007 for the Xbox brand in terms of content unless something gets delayed and that's based on multiplats + stuff that won't be on Wii U and PS4 this year. I mean, unless you want them to rush games and have a few more situations similar to MCC (haha).

I'd say that having popular franchises like Gears and Halo is pretty significant.

You do realize you are saying this very early in the generation + before E3 right? On top of this, they still do want to make some money off of the system. They aren't going to drop the console's price down so fast; especially not at this time of the year.

Why does it need to be $299 at this point? Just because they are more than likely going to lose the months during the first half of the year (NPD) by gaps that probably won't even add up to half of what the Xbox One sold in North America in the month of November 2014 alone? Doesn't make sense to drop the price now. They will more than likely stick to the plan of dropping it in the Fall alongside the onslaught of games they'll have since that's when most people purchase consoles.

If anything, Sony needs to have a few more big games set for the Holiday season if they want to really crush Xbox One's sales (NPD). Uncharted 4 alone more than likely won't do it.

Going to be a good year for both consoles regardless though.

I just want to see more exclusives than what we're getting. It seems like neither were really prepared for next gen. But I assumed that with their first party efforts really drying up the couple of years on 360, that there would simply be more stuff shifted to X1. It's been a slow start for both.

I don't get the slow start stuff. This gen has been phenomenal. I think gamers are just more entitled this generation. So many complaints and so little reason. By far the most unorthodox generation I've ever witnessed. No conjecture at all. I couldn't ask for more.

Yeah the shelves are overflowing with hits. It's all our imaginations.

If you only on one system, you're probably perfectly happy.

I seen something today that hinted at a possible Ratchet and Clank release sometime this year, that would be good for PS owners to fill in the gap that Sunset Overdrive fills for X1.

There are no hits for either depending on who you ask. They like the spoon don't exist.

I couldn't agree more. The Xbox One has been unstoppable out of the gate. Best exclusives, huge game line up, a 2015 that is looking to best even the already awesome 2014. The lowest price, best value and Xbox Live.

Looking all good to me.

Considering how poor the launch fumbling kinect deal was and how hot ps4 is selling they got to be happy where they're @. The whole if you ain't 1st your last motto is laughable.

MS is basically on pace to lose marketshare by 10 million units per year. If by 2020, the Xbox One is sitting at 80 million units sold and the PS4 is sitting at 100 million units sold, the consider it phenomenal sailing by MS. I don't see MS cracking 50 million units by that time though. They're a cake with crappy ingredients at this point. It's not going to turn out well.

Both Gears (a 2016 or 2017 title) and Halo (a 2015 title) are going to be dwarfed by Uncharted 4 when it releases this year. Not because the game will necessarily be better but because there will be close to 20 million more PS4's out in the wild by the time Uncharted 4/Halo 5 comes out.
Let's try and not forget that the Xbox One LOST MARKETSHARE last November and December. People tend to forget that fact around here.
