Like I said, I was not attacking anyone for not liking this one, hating it, or whatever.

So there are plot holes, and you are promising me that they are going to make an entirely new movie to fill them. Whatever the explanation, it is going to be bonkers. Like "kid Anakin flying a Naboo fighter" bonkers.

How is a plot hole to leave some stuff unanswered knowing full well two more movies are coming? Not to mention half the stuff you are complaining about is explained in the movie! You just didn't like/follow it well enough.

Not only was it explained, but it fits with the foundation Lucas had already set within his SW universe. I challenge anyone to find anything from Lucas or the cannon created under him that states a force user doesn't use the force without training or even knowing that they are in tune with the force. On the contrary, in Lucas's very own movies, he had Luke and Anakin both use the force without knowing.

In his very own words, a plot hole is something that cannot be explained, yet explanations have already been provided. Are the explanations silly? Maybe, but no more silly than midhiclorians (or whatever the spelling). No more silly than a kid flying a star fighter. No more silly than attempting to hide luke yet not change his name. No more silly than trying to hide luke, but leave Leia out in the open for Vader to see. No more silly than Luke having barely a few weeks training with Yoda, yet becoming a powerful Jedi knight, when other jedi knights needed years of training from child hood, and still being "padawans" even at young adulthood despite so many years of training. No more silly than Luke, a simple farmboy, being a better Xwing pilot than those that have been flying them in combat for quite some time. No more silly than feared storm troopers that keep order through though military tactics getting their arses handed to them by midget teddy bears. And on and on.

There is a difference between unanswered questions and a plot hole. It's a plot hole because it makes no sense how a hobo living day to day for scrap meals for all of her life is an elite pilot and a master mechanic. Whatever explanation they have is going to be some random act of God making it all possible. It's boring and unconvincing to tell an entire story in this manner.

It's a plot hole because it makes no sense how a farm boy living day to day farming moisture from air for all of his life is an elite pilot taking down the largest military installation that even the best pilots couldn't do (remember that it wasn't Luke's job to destroy it, there were the Y-Wing bombers for that). Whatever explanation they have is going to be some random act of God making it all possible. It's boring and unconvincing to tell an entire story in this manner.

I agree.

so much b****ing...and yet...

1.51 BILLION $$$$
What's funny is that Titanic and Avatar are in similar company, but those movies have critics that HATE it. There are people out there who think Titanic is a garbage movie, same for Avatar. That $1.5 billion is more a testament to what hype, franchising, heavy advertising, and higher ticket prices can do for a movie.

And overwhelmingly positive reviews and success as well as word of mouth.

Prices are up but not enough to do that amount in 20 days where others took months and months.

Basically explains exactly how I feel about the Force being overused in this film. Watching the new Jedi and Sith in action feels like watching the Matrix demigod do his magic mojo.

Avatar and Titanic got overwhelmingly positive reviews as well, and while they didn't do it as fast, Avengers and Avatar garnered their records pretty quickly. I do think higher ticket prices play a role though. Not to say it isn't impressive, but when adjusted for inflation, VII is still no. 5 for most successful Star Wars film. Although I think it'll beat Phantom Menace if it stays in theaters long enough.

Also not a fan of avatar.

big fan of this though. As a sidenote, I think people are taking finns "sanitation" line a little too seriously. In a book (that I have not read) it is stated he was a squad leader, and even ignoring that, he's clearly not a janitor by the time the movie starts. Probably demoted to sanitation while onboard starkiller due to mouthing off, if it needs an explanation.

but I mean cmon, s*** was jokes.

I think this is what Kylo Ren is all about. I also wonder if Ren experiences the same vision, but instead of fearing it he embraces the idea of becoming like Vader.

Agreed unless shes Vader reincarnated.

Wow! It past Return of the Jedi and Phantom Menace in less than a week! Impressive numbers! It might even get past Jaws and Dr. Zhivago if numbers hold steady enough.

You know, it's funny, even though this was just a SNL spoof, it gives you some insight into the character. I think by the end of EP IX we will look back and realize that Adam Driver was a brilliant choice for the character. At least, we will if they continue to develop him and flesh out his backstory.

The more I look at him, the more he looks like a skinny young adult version of Severus Snape.
