I just finished re-watching Force Awakens and Last Jedi to prep for Rise of Skywalker.
Force Awakens was a good movie. It was a bit too heavy handed with the similarities to the OT, but I was fine with that.
The Last Jedi however has some elements that bugged me when I first watched it and still bother me:
Canto Bight - it was a nice idea in concept, but not intriguing enough. The guy with the red flower pin was a complete caricature of a character, making the entire scene a joke. The casino needed more intrigue and depth to the characters there.
Rose - I like her character, and the actress performed her part nicely, but the way she was portrayed as an animal activist was too heavy handed, and felt forced. Further, it seemed she could do no wrong in the movie.
Holdo - Why does she have pink hair and why is she wearing an evening gown? Everyone else was wearing military attire. Her character was great though. The hyperdrive suicide move was awesome to see in the theater, and I don't really have a problem with the concept of it, even if it doesn't make sense.
Mary Poppins - It is horrible. I would have preferred it if Leia made a force bubble or anything else to protect herself from being ejected into space. Hell, when she flies back to the ship, there's no airlock and she opens the main door without consequence.
Poe's Opening Joke - atrocious and cringey.
Things I didn't mind, but people dislike:
Luke - honestly, I have no issues with Luke being dejected by his failure with Kylo. I liked the way Luke redeemed himself in the end, saving everyone.
Snoke - after being disappointed with Boba Fett and Maul's dispatching in their films, I wasn't disappointed when Snoke got killed. The way it was done was clever.
Conclusion: Last Jedi had too many big issues for me to rank it very high among all of the Star Wars films. I am hoping Rise of Skywalker is as good as Force Awakens.
