Substance Engine shows PS4 CPU performing better than Xbox One's

No ones hurt over the Ps4 being more powerful (paper spec wise) but saying that the games back that up is purely subjective. Ps4 doesnt trump the Xbox One in their launch line up. Not even close. In fact; most reviews that rated the PS4 and Xbox One based on features, hardware and games gave the nod near unanimously to the Xbox One (we've all read the reviews). Xbox One and Kinect have both been talked about beyond hardcore gamers in magazines like Time, Rolling Stone and Popular Science. Ps4 however didnt enjoy the same honorable mention as its still purely a gaming console and caters to the hardcore gamers, primarily.

You may not think said articles will have an effect on the end game with consumers, but think on all of those non-gamers that read said articles about the XO and now are exposed to what it offers on tap. That's x amount of fans and profit potential the Ps4 wont have.

Lets not even mention how many Sony gamers begged for RYSE, KI etc through petitions and such. NO Xbox gamer is asking for ONE game from the Ps4. There's a reason for that--regardless if you agree with it or not.

No need to come down on RYSE when most who have played it (beyond reviewers, and this includes those who began as anti RYSE opinions) agree that its the best looking game on either console. And lets face it, its true. KZ looks great! No denying that. But its no RYSE. End of story.

JMHO Sony games are good for one run through and are perhaps the most forgettable between the big 3. No ones hurt. Believe me. And simply because hardcore gamers fancy big numbers, there simply arent enough of them to drag the rest of the industry down with yet another decade of traditional, brute force, pure gaming consoles. Both Sony and Microsoft would agree.
No matter how many times you say the power is only on paper, you'd still be wrong. The top 2 games are visually better on ps4. Ps4 is better on paper, and it's been proven in real world application.

Yes. Agreed.

Yet, how many who bought any of the 3rd party launch games watched the comparison videos on DF? (most are the hardcore crowd/early adopters) How many are as hardcore as those who dwell within the forums? Soon enough the numbers will properly display how many care about these slight differences and how many just care about the overall experience. Won't be too long before the hardcore Sony crowd will scream from the roof tops about how casuals aren't as informed as they are, and that will be the excuse as to why the XO is the leading platform. I'd place a healthy wager on that one bud...

It doesn't matter....fact still remains, the PS4 is more powerful. Hiding that fact under petty SOny attacks doesn't change that. We're already seeing that possibly PS4 have sold more. We're already seeing more people playing BF4 on PS4 than on XB1, and even before this gen's release, we already saw CoD closing the gap between PS3/360 players.

Won't be too long that we'll see how much better PS4 is doing, especially once word of mouth continues to spread about how multiplats (which are the best selling games) tend to be better on PS4.

Seriously, XB1 has Ryse, a game that probably didn't even sell 1 million, Halo, a game that continues to go downhill and lose popularity, and Titanfall, a game that is untested as a powerhouse right now. All the while, Sony continues to establish itself as the console that has better exclusives. Now, on top of exclusives, better multiplats and lowered price....epic times ahead.

Xbox One launched with more or less better exclusives as far as gameplay goes. Ryse looks really good but I still give the technical nod to Killzone. Ryse has better motion capture especially in facial animations. Forza is a great racing game, KI is a decent casual fighting game, DR3 is fun if you don't mind the technical hiccups.

PS4 has the advantage of better running multiplats but they need to shore up their exclusives. Infamous 2nd son and driveclub had better be great.

Yes, indeed it would be interesting to see some software sales number for December. PS4 sold more software than the Xbox One in November and even selling more than the Xbox One counterparts on most multiplatform titles. Wonder if that will continue throughout the year.

  1. Call Of Duty: Ghosts (360, PS3, PS4, XBO, PC, NWU)**
  2. Battlefield 4 (360, PS3, PS4, XBO, PC)
  3. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (360, PS4, PS3, XBO, PC, NWU)**
  4. Madden NFL 25 (360, PS3, PS4, XBO)
  5. Grand Theft Auto V (360, PS3)**
  6. NBA 2K14 (360, PS4, PS3, XBO, PC)**
  7. Skylanders SWAP Force (WII, 360, PS3, NWU, 3DS, XBO, PS4)**
  8. Just Dance 2014 (WII, 360, NWU, XBO, PS3, PS4)**
  9. Disney Infinity (WII, 360, PS3, NWU, 3DS)
  10. FIFA 14 (360, PS3, PS4, XBO, PSV)

Says no one's hurt.
Takes a childish jab using months old, long since proven wrong BS. The PS4 is more powerful, both on paper and in real life operation, it's as simple as that.

And your comments about non-gaming "journalists" praising the XB1? That's about as relevant to this discussion as gaming "journalists" chiming in about politics, music and space travel.

Yeah, keep pretending McMatester, you're only fooling yourself. The rest of us read your posts, we watch you get all emo over this sh!t and watch you firmly plant your lips on the backside of ANYONE that spews techno-babble in an attempt to explain why the PS4 really isn't more powerful.

No more dull than KZ's... And I'd argue actually much more so; no variety in enemies, completely dull story, gameplay mechanics that don't make sense, really an average shooter at best. BF is better, COD is better; it's really the worst FPS on either platform.

Both of which also happens to be better on PS4. So now the PS4 has the best console versions of both huge FPS franchises and a better than average (I haven't played KZ, I'm going by what I've read here and elsewhere) sci-fi FPS.

Which exclusive FPS does XB1 have again?

Condemned was creepy... remember playing that game and this one scene made me jump so bad.

Condemned is the first and only game that freaked me out so bad I literally said "Fvck this! I'm DONE for the night!", stood up and turned it off, didn't care about lost progress from not saving, I was done.

It involved mannequins.

Microsoft's already commit ed to new Ip's for this generation. The said they were aware that they'd backed out on new Ip's with the 360 and wont make that same mistake this generation. This was after E3.

What they say and what they do are two different things, see last summers reversal on pretty much EVERY feature the XB1 was announced with.

Titanfall, a game that is untested as a powerhouse right now.

True enough, but I honestly think the pedigree will sell the game then word of mouth will cause it to be a huge hit. Hell, all they need to do is nail that tight, fast gunplay COD is famous for and make the additions (wall runs, mech combat) even half as fun as the gunplay and they'll have a hit on their hands.

COD4 huge? Almost certainly not, but I wouldn't say it's impossible.

The last two generations have shown that when it comes to exclusive titles we really have nothing to fear when buying a Sony platform. That could change but I highly doubt it.

Your opinion would hold a bit more weight IF it weren't for the XO selling like hotcakes, even with the higher price tag. What your not admitting to is that the XO offers much, much more than a gaming platform. It offers a unique aspect for entertainment all together. These features cater to more than just gamers without leaving gamers feeling empty handed or out in the cold. Its a viable option for entertainment all together. There are more casuals than there are hardcore gamers. Not to mention gamers like to do much more than just play games. The Ps4 just doesnt offer entertainment as a service and that, I believe, is its Achilles Heel. It still treats gaming as a hobby where as its competitor offers services that includes games: a much broader approach. JMHO. Dont get all wounded knee on me. Keep it civil.

Im going to say this to you once and once only Idle. Im not insulting anyone and I demand the same respect. If you cant continue this conversation as a civilized, opinionated individual, I'll place you on ignore and be done with it. Im sick of the internet tough guy crap (most of you amount to squat as a threat in the real world). And even if the mods allow name calling, I still have the option of the ignore feature. I simply wont put up with it. End of story. Get it together mate. Seriously.

Mods, my sincerest apologies. Im just sick of the internet tough guys who talk big. Cant even have a civilized discussion without the insults. Its revolting.

It sold out its 1st few weeks which was a given, its a new console and the holiday season. What will be interesting is how it sells in January and beyond.

Well I guess there is only two of the most anticipated FPS's inside of the next year headed to the Xbone. Only that. :(

Don't feel bad for us, we brought this on ourselves.

Is this an example of a strawman arguement?

Because I haven't seen one single poster say what you're implying. Not one person.

Hissatsu, A7, and Idle....can you guys give a list of names of those that think the Xbox One will improve over time but not the PS4? I want to laugh at them too. But in reality, I'm just not seeing anyone say that.

I could but I already am on people's s*** list for far less, you can read their posts in the X1 thread, part 1 not part 2.

Lol, I went to target today, and the same 7 xb1s from yesterday morning are still there . Ps4s sold out when they got them.

LOL. Sony fans are a laugh.

Last gen (we can finally call it that now) it was about exclusives and first party games despite 360 having solid first partiy games too and most multiplats better (often noticeably better with CoD, Bethesda and Bioware games being stand outs). X1 has better ones right now (Knack and KZ are meh), but somehow that's ignored. But but but....

....PS4 is so much more powerful. Yet X1 has better games at this point. And that's not even including all the snapping and Kinect integration which are bonus. Ryse is the best looking game right now and it's only 900p and not even a first party game. The handful of PS4 games at a better resolution than X1 don't result in a huge difference in visuals or gameplay. It's not like the 360/PS3 comparisons back in 2006-2008 where 360 had a big edge in both visuals and gameplay, or even later in their cycles when Skyrim could barely run on PS3 and had freezes and lockups and needed a huge patch.

It just kills Sony fans when the shoe is on the other foot and the exact same defence strategies are put in their face for fun. And that PS4 isn't "blowing away X1 in specs and sales" as they thought.

Pro tip: Don't get hyped up on marketing schtick.

Personally, I care about solid games and both systems are early in their cycles with hardly any games out for them right now (early adopters), but by just posting the following just shows how emotional they get and how they change tune.

Sony gamer: PS4 has better multiplats now, so it will continue (though 360 had better MPs than PS3)

Sony gamer: PS4 will have better first party games and exclusives, just wait (though X1 has them now).

Take your pick. Past or present. LOL. For fun, I can say the same..... X1 will have better MPs since history says so, and given the current launch trend first party and exclusives will be better too. See? Easy to say. LOL

Just go to metacritic and compare key exclusives both companies were promoting all year. There's DR3, F5, KI, Ryse, Knack, KZ to compare. X1 is better. And that's despite KZ being the highest profile and budgeted game on that list. And it's first party.

For multiplats, there's EA Sports, AC4, BF4, CoD, NFS, NBA 2k14 and probably a few more I missed. Depending on the game, one system will be ahead or down by a few points. It's not like 360/PS3 where the 360 game was so much better in the early cycle it would get noticeably better ratings. Feel free to compare... I'll start it off with two high profile games that are both at the top of their ratings charts....

FIFA 14
X1 88
PS4 87

NBA 2k14
X1 87
PS4 85

Feel free to continue the comparison Sony gamers. I'm interested to see the PS4 blowing away X1 in the other games.

Whole argument is academic... The PS4's popularity is not enough to suppress the X1 sales. Should be /thread on that point alone.

Sony CAN NOT survive another console generation where they are not totally dominant. They just fired their COO of North America, because of the PS4's failure to dominate. The smart money is pulling their money out of Sony finances (see ~many~ finance articles about it now...) It is only a matter of time.

In the next year you will see Sony s*** can the Vita, because it is a FAILURE, and to put their dwindling resources behind the PS4. The PS4 WILL NOT make profits in time to save the company.

Everything else is irrelevant...

Just going through quickly, I count 7 PS exclusives > 75 score (green colour) while Xbox One only has 3 > 75. So going by metacritic (like you wanted to), there seems to be more "solid" titles on the PS4 than Xbox One?

Guess that means the console war is over and Sony has officially won. Man your Target holds a lot of juice this gen. And am I the only one who finds it strange that you went out of you way to check on the One's stock two days in a row verifying with the clerk that the 7 (lol you counted) are the same from the day before. Dude, you need to rent some poon or at least order a flesh light cause you son gots too much time (and gentleman's relish) on your hands.
