Now they claim Halo was a GOTY contender??

Took 6 days into 2024 for them to be wishing for the company with no games to bring it's games to PS.

I could see Rush going to Switch or a Switch 2 launch title.

lol these PS fans are hilarious on twitter.

I figured this deserved its own thread

Well well well I swore some said they never believed this would ever happen. Heck, my thread in the multiplatform section even got closed because it got so heated lol. Maybe time to reopen / merge ?

I think it's inevitable that MS would go more and more third party as these are huge acquisitions and they previously always enjoyed having multiplatform revenue so MS wanting a chunk of this revenue is not too surprising despite their large cash reserves and what Xbox fans want. Money is money. This is good news for all gamers except for Xbox fans obsessed with console war fodder.

The only two “goty”contenders that could have an inkling of a chance for ps5 and switch are ori and psychonauts 2. Will they, I doubt it, would love to see sea of thieves come to either switch platform though. I cant see myself buying a Steamdeck yet.

PlayStation will continue to get games like Minecraft and ESO.

PlayStation will get new first party games from Xbox though, in 2025, anything and everything COD related, as they are contractually obligated.

PlayStation may get access to more or all of Xbox’s ABK games if they allow Ubisoft to stream games via PS5.

Or those who only own one platform other than an Xbox still have access to their games if they get or have a pc, a handheld pc like Steamdeck, or any device with a web browser/streaming-app

Psychonauts 2 is already on PS4 and Ori is on Switch.

Its Hi Fi Rush on Switch/Switch 2

It's like 85% of this forum has become shares of Twitter posts, and 85% of the Twitter posts are nonsensical rumors.
Yep, I truly dislike rumors. It's not news... just more fodder for debates that go no where.

Just wait for an announcement and then discuss it. There's nothing to gain here, imo.

True, but ori isn’t on ps and psychonauts 2 isn’t on switch. Only then would they truly encompass that what is “multiplatform”, to those who seek “goty” contenders.

Besides our own, I don’t think hifi rush was nominated for any overall “goty” awards. Maybe just Xbox game of the year.

If HFR does get posted to switch, then I hope we get jet set radio on there as well.

I’m sure it’s on many people’s backlog, granted if they have purchased it on PC or Xbox. As they may have the data that tracks how far along the campaign people are and or have completed it. Some people now May be playing COD or BG3 and good on them, enjoy the games.

For me HFR was addicting, played it over every other game until I finished it. Totally worth it, even though on easy it was hella hard cos I got no rhythm. It even pushed my allocated Zelda playtime 😆

As a rule of thumb, I don't believe ANYTHING these "insiders" with "sources" say. They were 100% out of the loop for the Bethesda deal and Activision deal. Heck they were out of the loop for the HiFi rush Shadow drop. So why should I believe anything they have to say. Unless its a controlled leak from MS themselves.

Some decent points being brought up. The mixed messaging from words and actions are casting confusion on loyal Xbox fans. Let's see if hifi rush actually goes multiplatform.

This is an interesting quote : "They say there's no smoke without fire. I will say that it has been suggested to me from very trusted, proven sources that Microsoft has been exploring bringing some of its back catalog to other platforms, although some of the details remain vague and unconfirmed. We've reached out to Microsoft to comment and clarify its position on this stuff."

Yeah it's always funny that stuff like that comes out of nowhere.

Regardless of whether this is true or not an acquisition like that is a very different thing. None of the supposed insiders are ever going to have that but games get leaked all the time.

Rumors and quotes from different interviews from years ago is not mixed messaging, IMO.
