Godsmack I started going back thru that thread looking for your posts & copying/pasting into a Word document. I swear you've got your own wiki in there. Yeah but like I bonehead I didn't just search by your posts. And Krause contributed a ton as well. You two guys are DS to me.

Good to see WLJ and Bullzeye migrated!!!

glad to be here. i was worried we wouldn't be able to find a suitable place to migrate

Yes, this place seems fine so far.

I was so tired of having to check the name of who bumped the threads at txb to make sure I didn't waste my time because of bots.

So I finally beat it! 2 and a half months, 45 hours of playtime, and 2 forums later, I am done. I might do a NG+ at some point, but I've built up a 25+ game backlog so it won't be for awhile. Hell, I might not even get the chance before DS2. But I just want to thank you guys for the help, I loved the game. It's been awhile since I've been truly challenged by a game and I can't wait for DS2.

I just beat the game in 8 hours. Yall are a bunch of chumps :p

I always take my time with games. On the first playthrough, I really take it slow and explore, look for secrets, upgrade things, look at the small details, etc. Of course, even on subsequent playthroughs, I still take my time usually. And in the Souls series, I sometimes even get distracted by pvp or co-op.

Yup, same here. You only get one chance to experience a new game for the first time. It's best to savour it as much as you can. I feel like too many gamers nowadays treat games like 'work' that they have to 'rush' through in order to just 'get on with' the next game, for which they do the same thing again and the cycle continues. Slow down and have some fun you maniacs, that's the whole point!

Looks great, I've been putting of getting a new computer for the past year - cant wait to see how it looks on PC.

Been watching all the beta vids. It looks amazing! So many tweaks. I heard the PC version comes after consoles versions? That sucks.

Lag stabs hath return!

Hmm, I was hoping they would just remove backstabs from pvp entirely. It usually results in nothing more than people being lame.

I haven't watched anything yet. I want to make this one a bit more blind than the last ones. I hope the pc version comes out fairly close to the console version. I haven't decided which version to get yet.

I agree completely. That may have been an NPC but as long back stabs exist in PVP there are going to be too many random victories or fishing for the back stab. I remember when Dark Souls first launched before they nerfed Tranquil Walk of Peace and the Ring of Fog.. PVP was at its worst.. at its worst.

Yeah, I still favor Demon's Souls for pvp. I don't know what it was, but whether invading or getting invaded, it usually resulted in a good fight with only the occasional griefer. I mentioned some of this in the first post in this thread, but Dark Souls botched a lot of things when it released. The addition of pyromancy not needing levels or overpowered lightning weapons one-shotting people, I mean, what were they thinking?

They even ruined some things AFTER the patches. I mean, who uses iron flesh anymore? No one, because it's worthless now.

It was definitely an NPC. I've watched that beta vid. I have yet to see one with PvP, only co-op.

Well, they should be much harder to pull off now going by the vids. You must initiate a grab and it looks like enemies can roll out of it before the stab comes. Just found this on Neogaf. No spoilers: "It is WAY more difficult or at least different to backstab now and no where near what it used to be BUT it seems that faster characters may have an easier time doing so or at least characters with speed, (Agility?)"

I understand. I am too weak! Getting PC version for sure, just hoping that it isn't more than a month after console version because I will have to double dip if so. Maybe that is what From wants.....

Cool, that actually sounds pretty interesting.

From Software is not pulling any punches. You can get invaded at any time . . . This has the potential to be brutal.

I haven't won an invasion yet! Lol

Well, invasions, especially in Dark Souls, are highly biased towards the invader. He will have better gear, and that makes a huge difference. While skill can overcome a handicap of weaker gear, it makes little difference when you die in just one or two hits.

I still say they should get rid of "level" based invasions entirely and make it more about power rating or something. Take the amount of damage you can do and what weapons you invade with, and that determines who you invade. Of course, if you want to invade in early game areas, you can simply choose weaker weapons to take with you. I highly doubt anything like this would happen though.

Or maybe they should just stop putting in anything that doesn't scale with level. Get rid of any elemental weapons, make pyromancy scale with a stat, whatever. That way, everyone has to make a fair build and not just a vitality/end build that uses lightning weapons. At higher levels, things are more even, but anything lower than level 60 or 70 is just too vulnerable to elemental weapons and pyromancy.

Also, isn't Dark Souls II going to have Dedi servers like Demon Souls?

Yeah, I don't know what they can do GS. All I know is getting invaded early game by a powerful for is frustrating.

I don't understand why level does work. Make each weapon have a higher level requirement.

I heard that this is true.

Here is one of many articles stating this- http://www.gamespot.com/news/from-software-details-new-dark-souls-ii-features-6414626

"Unlike the peer-to-peer lobbies that fuel theoriginal Dark Souls, players will now populate dedicated servers, like the spiritual predecessor, Demon's Souls, thus increasing the number of players that populate a given instance of the game."

I think From is trying to fix these issues. I can't remember which stats do what, but they are making it to where certain stats buff certain elements. For example Dexterity buffs poison dmg, and faith boosts lightning etc. This should alleviate the low level ganking issue. People have to level up to do a lot of lightning dmg, etc. Also, it appears that pyromancy is cast with a catalyst too so I assume it's powered from a stat as well. No more level one characters with a +15 flame!

Guys I still can't get over the announcement invasions can happen any moment. I probably was hollow 95% of the time in Dark Souls. I did go human during parts of the game to fight certain enemies in order to get gear but not that often.

How often were you guys human?

I was hollow for probably 90% of my playtime. I'm not too concerned but then again, I won most of my duels. I like that you look like a fresh corpse now instead of a 5 month old dead body when hollowed.

So we can expect lag stabs to be a thing of the past, yes? I really hated that.
