Doubt it will be. The game is supposed to release this year...maybe early next year. We will get Gameplay...it is one of Ubisoft's biggest games.

I think it was smart moving the locale to Washington. Rescue diplomats, embassy buildings can reveal cool side stories,, rogue military squads; all good stuff.

I thought the gun-play looks dumbed down. Other than that it was a pretty generic viewing of the game...but with Ubisoft having their own conference I guess it makes sense. Hopefully we will learn more about new thing, skills, events, activities, features, systems, etc at their conference.

Wasn't feeling it.

UBI's knack for scripted demo dialogue (they did this with Division 1 and RS: Siege), makes the videos cheesy as heck.

NOBODY talks like this in a group of online gamers.

Yeah I think they used the same actors from the old R6 Siege trailer. It looked exactly like Div 1 to me and not in a good way.

This isn't just Division 2 by any means, but I hate these fake demos they run, as if they are being controlled real-time. Just show the demo; you don't have to pretend you are actually playing it.

Well I am not sure how that would go over if they talked like we do when playing the game in real life:

Gamer 1: Holy f***! Grenade out, there is a s*** ton of AI all coming at us!

Gamer 2: I got these bitches all up in the ass, don't worry G money!

Gamer 3: Thank god, I nearly s*** my pants

12 minutes of gameplay. Looks like an extended version of the Microsoft briefing gameplay video.

Looks good. It took a while for Division 1 to get to where it is now, but the devs did a lot of work to improve on it. Love that it's in DC now instead of NYC again or LA.

Wow. Every change I could have wanted was in there. No more bullet sponge enemies will be great. As will the unique weapon classes. Excellent.

Bullet sponge enemies are still in there I think, they just changed how that sponge operates. Now the sponge is a game mechanic itself.

But yeah, seems like they actually listened to the criticism and feedback and acted accordingly. Can't wait for March to arrive.

I wrote a bit in another thread, but I played it last night with 2 of the devs. One was guiding is through it, the other was giving me advice. We talked for like 20 minutes afterwards. Great guys.

So basically here’s what I got from playing and talking to them:

They used google maps (or something like it) to recreate DC. Then the arises went in and knocked stuff down, etc. Their goal is to have it be much more open than 1. The dev said to me ‘NYC is kind of claustrophobic, and all the tall buildings limited how you could approach a situation. We wanted to have each experience be unique.’ So with DC everything is more open, and so anytime you go into an area, you can approach it many different ways. It won’t be repetitive.

The bosses and sub-bosses now react to where you hit them . If you keep shooting them in the leg, they will start dragging their leg and moving slower for instance.

I didn’t ask about FPS but the demo was pretty smooth (they were very clear this was pre-alpha though). He said they are shooting for a release date early next year.

All the animations have been improved, and the classes are broader. You have a primary and secondary weapon, and also a special weapon. The dev recommended I play as a grenadier, and the special weapon was obviously a grenade launcher, which was pretty sweet.

Any other questions, just ask!

Did you play Division 1? Am more curious of how the game plays relative to Division 1. How is the gun-play, did you feel any kind of synergy between team mates. Did things seem balanced? Are the special weapons uber powerful and can you spec 1 character in to all 3 special weapons?

I doubt they told you anything about Dark Zone changes, raids, end-game content details, etc.

I asked a ton of questions but got a lot of ‘we can’t talk about that right now.’ So I didn’t get an answer to the first, but he did allude to the fact the end game would be different.

That was the first question he asked me ‘did you play the first one? How far did you go?’ When I said I played it all way through we had a brief bro-moment.

The demo was only about 10 minutes long, and I played with 2 strangers and the other dev . He was talking us through the area so it’s hard to say how well we would have worked together without him. But they seemed to know what they were doing.

The special weapons didn’t seem overpowered, and I only had 3 grenades for the launcher. When I found an ammo box I *think* I was able to refill completely but I was too focused on everything else. I’m pretty sure the special weapons are tied only to the class, and I don’t know if they upgrade at all.

We played an area with a downed airplane. Lots of enemies, but our characters were already at level 30 so we did well. A sub-boss came out and looked like a Big Daddy from Bioshock. Working together he wasn’t too hard to take down.

It all felt very natural and balanced, but again, it was only a 10 minute ‘tutored’ demo, so hopefully the rest of it pans out like the demo. I really like the more open DC setting though. Lots more freedom in moving around, and as my 3 teammates were attacking I was able to flank about 6 of the the enemies and tear them up.

Lots of people were filming so I’m assuming videos will be posted soon.

Being a fan of the first, I left confident about it. I shook the devs hand and said I really enjoyed the demo, and I got a big smile in return.

Unlikely I would think. They still have the Dark Zone and because of that people will need to be kept on an even playing field.
I've always wondered about this. It never matters on pc for any game, why does everyone have to be level on console?

Matters is the wrong word. What I mean is that you don't hear people complain about the other guy having more frames, you just deal with it.

As I said, it is an inherent part of PC gaming.

Consoles are meant to be an even playing field. Why do you think people complain about Mouse & keyboard users on consoles.

Talked to the dev again today . He said 3 free DLCs coming post-launch. I asked about micro transactions and he said ‘no comment yet.’

They were in the first game, so I fully expect them to be here. As long as they stay like they were in Division 1--weapon skins, back pack skins, emotes, etc--then I don't care...As long as gear skins are still earn-able in game.
