One of the saddest parts about this whole covid 19 pandemic to me as a progressive is before it actually got here most of the people I saw warning us about it and taking it seriously were Republicans and they were being written off as racist and xenophobic. I don't mean the majority of Republicans were paying attention to it because they weren't I only saw a couple of people really talk about it at all in a meaningful way and they weren't democrats. Hell Biden was saying Trump blocking travel from China was xenophobic and racist and that ended up being the only really good thing he has done, if Biden had been President and worried about looking racist instead of doing what was right this could have been a lot worse on the west coast than it has been. It looks like NY is suffering mostly from infected people coming from Italy.

Political ads are always nasty and edited to bring up the worst thing about the opponents but this is a pretty good ad against Biden.

I agree that Biden set himself up for that but it was also clear he was talking about trust which is true. You can't trust Trump shutting down travel because of the muslim ban.

Biden's op-ed in January makes him more credible in terms of saying he was taking it seriously before Trump

Oh for sure the Muslim ban was unwarranted and Trump should be called out for it but this was totally different and instead of doing what's in the best interests of the American people Biden would worry more about not appearing racist.

I'm not saying it wasn't different I am saying that Biden was talking about how he didn't have the publics trust because of it. Obviously knowing what we know now we know Trump wasn't doing it to protect the country or on the advice of medical experts but if he had actually taken it seriously and done and said the right things you still might have had people not taking him seriously because of the lack of trust most people have with him.

At the end of the day the election will come down to whether people believe Trump did a good job and how bad the vote is suppressed. All the other things we thought were going to matter no longer will register.

He's completely blown off any questions that would be deemed political. He's been as apolitical as one could be about this.

He wouldn't want to devalue his scientific expertise. If he sides with either party he will be seen as someone who presented/presents politically influenced advice.
 
Cuomo telling New Yorkers to vote Democrat is a bit redundant. :)

My theory on Cuomo is that there's some bit of dirt out there on him he's afraid of coming out, and staying in NY means nobody will dig too deep. Just my guess/theory.

He was pushing hard for a run not long ago. The whole "free tuition for everyone" was a total political ploy (NY already had most tuition paid for people with income low enough to qualify). The whole thing was a publicity stunt. They just made the new tuition slightly different than the old one, when all they needed to do was expand the old one that worked fine.

I don't think most democrats would appreciate how conservative he actually is. I know I was put off after reading up on him trying to cut Medicaid etc.

Yeah, it's a promise he never should have made but once again pandering is more important than making sure you pick the right person. I am not saying a woman can't be the right person but it's idiotic to box yourself in like that for the sake of a headline.

I agree there is no reason to make the promise. He got some headlines after the debate but he didn't need them. Seems to me it would look better if picked a woman out of a field of lots of different candidates as opposed to saying he is only looking at women. Bernie and Biden were both always going to pick a woman but I am not sure whats to gain by not at least pretending you looked at everybody and whoever picked was the best even if we know that isn't really how it works.

Don't really think he is boxed in though. The amount of people that of people that could be picked is still very large.

Too many people keep trying to push him to Harris and that would be a terrible choice, hopefully he goes with someone else.
 
This poll showing 56% of Dems want to see Cuomo replace Biden isn't encouraging, the guy isn't the official nominee yet and people are already jumping ship lol. Yeah I know the poll was done by a conservative group but it's probably not all that out of line with reality. That being said I think our Governor here in CA, Gavin Newsom has done a much better job than Cuomo and is hardly getting any attention.

I remember the day (maybe day after) Biden said he'd select a woman Yang was being interviewed and said "That's not was said to me during our phone call" lol so maybe he was being considered at one point.
