If this is the kind of crap our government allows they all need to go, Trump and his admin for allowing it and the Democrats and Republicans in the house and Senate for not making sure this couldn't be done to begin with. That's not even taking into account how they all think so small and never rise to the occasion when needed.

Well since we were giving Bernie all the credit for saving it I guess we have to give him all the blame.

Thanks Bernie!

laura ingraham said we should not stay home because there's no vaccine Covid-19 because AIDS doesn't have a vaccine and we don't stay home for that.

"doctor' phil said because there's drownings in pools and car crash deaths and we don't stop those we shouldn't worry about Covid-19.

"doctor" Oz said kids need to go back to school and 3% of kids going back to school dying is just fine.

I'm not exaggerating. These were the arguments made on faux news yesterday.

Sometimes I think people are just too stupid to help. They seem to get off on being able to push this nonsense on people.

Too many would rather be told lies that they want to hear instead of facts. It turns into "how dare you tell me that what I think is wrong?"

It's a waste of time arguing against such inane crap. The tragedy is that he is knowingly making ridiculous arguments to try to convince people to go against actual medical doctors' advice.
It's poison. I don't believe in an afterlife, but if there is, I HOPE people like "doctor" phil pay a grave price there for what they do to people's minds in the afterlife.

i get people are frustrated and running out of patience. Probably because this seems to be hittingthe country in such an uneven way.

I do think we can reopen the country in a rolling step by step process, but we need to keep vigilant about it to avoid sparking new hot spots like South Dakota with hundreds sick in a meat processing plant.

It seems like massive risk comes from having people close together in buildings such as high rises, factories, and prisons. Riker's Island might even be contributing to the NYC problems.

I also wonder about something as simple as the number of elevators in high rise buildings; might the Virus just hang in the air briefly after the doors close?

Maybe we should open the beaches within reason and encourage outdoor patio dining with restaurants and bars? I'm thinking of a nearby Cajun place and the big seafood restaurant district we have here and most of them have outdoor dining areas to view the gulf. Maybe a combination of the outdoor breeze, UV from the Sun, and extra sanitizing of seating areas between meals would be reasonable.

I dunno, there is a group I was invited to on Facebook called Re-open Alabama with a lot of frustrated people, but while it would help to reopen, I think it could be tragic to underestimate this thing.

I don't believe in an afterlife either (at least not a life like we know it, sprite in some way maybe, as in energy transferred)

But I know you can't take your money or stature with you when you die.

Can you take your sins though?

The USA hasn't even peaked. This virus is exploding there and it's already too late basically.

So many people are going to die from this in the USA.

I just hope Canada keeps the borders closed to USA tourism until it's safe.

Holy s*** that was glorious. It had just the right amount of passive aggressiveness in it. I wish this happened on Thursday so the morning shows could discuss it.

When it comes to excess stockpile, we still don't know what could happen in the Fall or Winter. This can be seen as both a short term need and a long term investment in resources if this thing could surge again.

Oh well, typical America the reverse mentality is always applied to the Military. Oh no, Obama supposedly left us short on Ammo so we must raise our stockpile.

Fvcking priorities.

He deserves as much of the blame as the rest of them, luckily the biggest banks decided not to act on this and the one that was doing it stopped after what they were doing was reported to the public. The treasury department is coding this as a refund instead of a benefit and that's why they are allowed to do it.

That was a good ad, I was going to post it myself, Republicans are going to come back and say the 40k who were let in were American citizens, actually they have been saying that already and that otherwise the ban worked. The ban was needed and Biden was wrong about that, Trump acted too late and didn't do enough when he did finally act so they both have some ammo the difference is Biden didn't actually do anything wrong he just said he would have , Trump did mess up big time and hopefully people hold him to account.

Latest Gallup poll is out and it is encouraging. This is as of April 14, so the first one to be deep into this crisis.

Approval down to 43% and disapproval up to 54%.. Not amazing so far, but a good trend. People can't pretend this thing away when they are directly impacted by it.

This is worth reading, long thread but totally true.

Meanwhile, the Republicans:

-Find some BS narrative they can sell to people (IE immigration is the cause of all your problems)
-Create a consistent narrative
-Have that narrative circle all around between conservative news and politicians
-Repeat, repeat, repeat consistently.

Republicans get the value of creating a narrative and repeating it consistently. They look for what they can do to win states that help them win. Progressives are trying to change the country and the way people think.

It isn't hard to see why the latter fails. By the way, a big part of the Republican narrative is attacking how the progressive agenda won't work.

Progressives need to pay attention to the huge area of the country between NYC and LA. If your message doesn't play well there, it doesn't work.

The one dumb point he made was complaining about Sanders and Warren prioritizing unity. There is no other choice and they are smart enough to know that.

He also claims progressives should work with Republicans when they can...
