Durbin also brought up that the 2nd amendment was written when they were using muskets and using her "Originalist" claim to raise the issue with the current availabilities of firearms compared to the "Originalist" times.

The only time they actually care about the Constitution is when they can twist it to defend their views.

That's why "Republican" no longer represents actual conservatives or constitutionalists.

They don't care about what it means, they only care about what they can use to convince people of their so called "values".

Real Trumpublicans want to get back to times when people's values were set by the free market...at slave auctions.

There are reports of people waiting 11 hours to vote and this is just early voting. Imagine what's going to happen in states with no early voting.

Oh I get that but it's too close to the election to make it look like the dems are the problem, we have a habit of snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory and I don't want anything close to that happening again.

She had a terrible interview with Wolf Blitzer. Even though this situation is far from her fault she is going to eat the blame if they don't make a deal this week. They are going to have to swallow whatever BS they are putting in the bill.

I think she is trying to make the best deal possible but there is no time for that anymore

Her ego is out of control, she gets upset whenever she is questioned about anything she does and comes off like a jerk. I don't want to sound ageist but she's 80 and rich, why is she still working? she's addicted to power as many of them are and she needs to go. She needs to agree to that bill ASAP and keep making noise about what's not in it so they can try to continue to do things about that but she needs to get the focus off of her. When she said "we know them" when talking about the people in her district I wish Blitzer would have asked her to name one person she represents who's not a donor and see if she could have.

Sadly this happens whenever we have an election especially in Georgia, even their primary voting was a mess.
It's not a mess, it's working as designed, just like Texas drop boxes.

She had to be the Speaker in 2018. End of story to me. It was too crucial of a period for it to be anyone else and there really wasn't anyone that wanted it anyway.

But she should make this next term her last term and retire as Speaker. It was a good run but it doesn't need to last forever.

She didn't have to be, honestly her name comes with a ton of baggage and republicans raise a lot of money off of her. She was the only one establishment dems wanted but she wasn't the only choice.

Being the Speaker means being a lightning rod. Its part of the reason there wasn't anyone of note looking for the job. Unless you want Tim Ryan which you certainly don't.

But I don't really care how much Republicans hate her or use her to raise money. A job was needed and it needed be done right. It wasn't the time to f*** around. There will always be some new boogeyman for them anyway so it shouldn't be concerned with.

But in this case opposition to Trump isn't what's needed

The only reason others didn't want the job is because they knew she was going to get it regardless and didn't want to go up against her, she's not the best person for the job she's just the one that's built the most power. She raises a lot of money, that's basically all she's good for.

Well the best you could honestly say is maybe someone would be better but then again maybe someone would have been a disaster in a time where that couldn't be afforded.

And you thought she shouldn't have done the shutdown and you were 100% wrong. She was right and she won.

People really underrate Pelosi. She's doing exactly what we need right now - someone to go after the Republicans in government now. There often isn't much the speaker of the house can do except wag a finger at the senate and white house.

The GOP does this a lot - they decide who to attack, and then turn it into something more than it is. Pelosi is Speaker of the House where the Dems have a majority, she doesn't speak for Biden or necessarily everything related to Democrats. Republicans think like this because that's how their party is, everyone closes ranks and follows the party line no matter where it goes. Democrats aren't like that. We have people all the way left from AOC and Bernie to people in the middle. We're not one group you can attack, but the GOP loves to make that argument anyway.

I'm not voting for Pelosi next month, nor am I voting for AOC. None of those people are in my district. All I care about is defeating Trump.

I used to underestimate her. She's great at what needs to be done when it needs to be done. He one slip, which was yesterday, was her combative nature with Blitzer. I haven't seen her slip pretty much at all before that. I wouldn't have wanted anybody else to navigate the House the past few years. She had to navigate the idiot. She had to navigate the new blood in the House. She did about as well as anybody could have given the absolute chaos that DC has been the past few years.

The #1 job of the Speaker from 2018-2020 was always going to be to reduce the damage of Trump and keep the House party members in line. Its not exciting but its reality.

She also has to carry Chuck Schumer's dead weight.

I like Wolf (he actually went to my high school! our most famous alum by a long shot!), but he's basically saying why not roll over and take whatever the GOP wants. She lost her cool a bit, but I didn't think it was excessive. She was a little out of line, but not wrong.

She can't roll over for the Republicans, and that point didn't need to be pushed so hard.
