Have to love how they are talking like this new stimulus is going to be an accomplishment when it's too little too late, they should have done something much bigger a long time ago.
Spoken like someone who believes they'll get something done on this now. 🐘💩

Someone needs to start making some noise about term limits again as well as getting these old rich bastards out on their butts. I'm sorry but Pelosi is 80 and worth around $120 Million and has been in the house since 1987, her wealth has increased dramatically in that time. Mitch McConnell has been in since the 80's as well, is about 78 years old and is worth almost $40 million and most of that money came to him while he was an elected official. These people have basically been cut off from average Americans for over 30 years yet we trust them to do what's best for us? we trust them to truly care about climate change when they'll be gone before the worst of it happens? We need people with skin in the game, people who are younger, not yet corrupted and have young families they want to make life better for not someone who's already well off when they are sworn in and able to increase their wealth through the job.

Well you will be happy to know that this is Pelosi's last term

But if she was replaced with someone 40 years younger you still wouldn't have a single thing that would be different right now. The government is beyond broken.

If you want to fix the system, put strong donation limits on political positions. Ban any political contribution from any organization, corporation, etc. Limit personal donations depending on the office (allow people to donate, but not to "buy" government). In the modern era, people don't need millions of dollars to run campaigns anymore.

I mean, Trump raised $150 million (at one point, probably more now) in a hopeless fight against the election result. That's a disgusting amount of money to throw away on a hopeless cause.

She's one of the ones who helped break it and that's why all of these fogies who've been there since the 80's need to go regardless of the party they belong to. As far as it being her last term all I've seen is that she said she won't seek the speakership again after this I've seen no confirmation that she won't seek to keep her seat the next time it comes up.

Individual House members have little power so even if she kept the seat it doesn't mean much if someone else is speaker.

You think she's not going to be pulling strings behind the scenes? Until she and the loyal old guard who want her up every time go she's going to have a ton of influence regardless of title.

What strings exactly? You could make AOC speaker and it wouldn't have the slightest impact. The Senate has the power to sandbag everything, and that's exactly what they do.

She puts the dems in line in the house and she'll continue to do that even of not officially in power I have no doubt. There is NO reason someone who's 80 years old and worth around $100 million should still be in office especially when they've been doing it for over 30 years and life for the average American has continued to worsen that entire time. I'm not blaming it all on her but she has played a part, she's been in the "club" the entire time.

The house has just as much power as the Senate, they are equal branches btw one isn't more powerful than the other.

Someone 40 years younger will take the same payouts from the same companies. Blaming her is what the GOP wants you to do. Her retiring or moving on won't change the massive flaws in the system from top to bottom. The Bernie's and AOC's are the huge minority right now.

The system is rigged by people with money for people with money to control things.

And the country isn't willing to elect AOCs nationwide. I think you would have a better Democratic party if they were but even then I don't think things would be much different with the GOP getting worse. Its up to the public to elect better people and they can barely be stopped from reelecting Donald Trump. Doesn't give you much hope for some revolution if 47% saw the dumpster fire this country is in and said "oh yeah give me more of that"

Look at the Stimulus. Democrats want to do a bill that isn't perfect but is certainly good and Republicans want to do practically nothing. So the right blames the Democrats for nothing getting done and the left counters that by blaming the Democrats for nothing getting done.
