The Official: Automotive enthusiast thread

Have an 08 Scion tC with about $230k miles on it. Still a decent car overall, low maintenance, etc. Unfortunately, this model had an issue with the piston rings causing it to burn oil. Had it tested a long time ago but they wouldn't cover it, saying it wasn't bad enough. Over time it has gotten worse and worse. Had an oil change like 500 miles ago and already have to start adding it.

I'd like to stay with a manual, but options are limited. The thing I like about the Scion is I can fit my bike in the back and keep it there all summer. Skis fit as well. Right now thinking the new Honda Civic Hatchback is the best bet. Plus to that car is that unlike my Scion it has factory option for roof rack so I can put a kayak or SUP on there.
Hmmm, that’d probably be your best bet, it’s the roomiest of the hatch’s out there, especially cargo wise. For some reason they seem a bit short in height for me, but I’ve only say in ones with a sunroof, which I like.

The new GTI’s are fun, second in interior space, at least I feel so, but the mazada 3 hatch’s feel the most fun and planted. Dono what the weather is like, I think none have awd, unless you go for golf r.

But if you need just a bit more room and space out back, maybe the Kia Soul. Otherwise stick to the Honda hatch.

I’m waiting on the Corolla GR 😆

I'm waiting to see if the Corolla GR happens too, and if they bring the Yaris GR over, and if they put a Manual in the Supra. Toyota is like 3 feet from awesomeness and they refuse to take those steps. :txbmad:

Corolla would be on the list but I feel a bit burned by Toyota on this car. Yes it has 230k miles but if it wasn't for them not covering a known issue this car would hit 300k and beyond.

The Corolla is a really good car, but as a hatch it’s rather small with useable space if the seats are up. Oh maybe something like a HR-V or CX5 or Kona, I know there’s others that escápenme atm but I’ve driven those, they’re all quite nice (I have a bias to Mazda, their interiors are nice and are the sportiest of small cars/CUVs), oh and Toyota’s very own Corolla Cross and CHR, I’m intrigued by both.

The Cross and HR-V have awd, if that’s something you’re interested in.

The Kona I was briefly, but I don't think I'm ready to give up the manual yet.

The biggest issue is a lack hydrogen fuel stations. I think almost all of them are located here in California.

This is my favourite car dude on the internet, and he's also a farmer, and this video may be boring as all hell for most people but this guy has tested electric, hybrid, etc etc and seems to think hydrogen fuel cells (scratch that, edit: clearly wasn't listening first time I watched it, this is a hydrogen powered induction engine?) are the better option after all.

Just trying to promote Harry's Garage haha. This guy is amazing!
