So can you guys tell me what do you think of this DF analysis of TR

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-tomb-raider-definitive-performance-analysis

In first video lowest FPS difference is 5fps and in second 9FPS. So to me it seems the two devs had different opinions of balance. One locked game to 30fps for judder free consistancy and other went for 60 fps judder and inconsistancy. Have they both been done by later they would both have average FPS in 50's range. So which dev do you agree with? More fps+more judder+inconsistency or less fps+no judder+consistency?

Ohh and they confirm what I said that MS driver needs and will be updated.

Wel i checked the Enigma Xbox One video and Out PS4 videos here, i downloaded them:

http://www.gamersyde.com/news_we_reviewed_tomb_raider_de-14983_en.html

The framerate is very smooth on PS4 and you can see the difference on Xbox One. This part was probably judder free then, cause it looks very nice, smooth like that.

I would take a steady 30 over a bouncy 60. Graphically they look identical. A lot of games seem to have unlocked fps on ps4, like killzone, contrast, tombraider, amongst others. Not a fan of it.

Basically it;s like...its first smooth as hell when rotating the camera for example and then all of a sudden it bogs down? I recall seeing that in some Killzone videos. Didn't look pretty. I only downloadex two Tomb Raider videos, but in that video it was butter smooth on PS4. Graphically identical indeed..except for X1 looking very very bright, much more so than PS4, but maybe that is just Gamersyde's settings.

Yeah wouldn't worry about brightness it's the setup.
As for judder it would be just that start going fast then slow down or go from 40fps to 60fps also makes a judder. Seems like ps4 is also suffering judder issues in COD

Yeah. Some people on other sites want you to believe this is a signal that PS4 CAN reach high numbers, and Xbox One can't. But i believe there is much more to it. I think when they finally get the full know-how about Esram, things will improve more and more. I highly doubt it won;t.

You know. Im really glad I created a comparison post about TR with XBO and PS4 and had people give their opinion. Im just going to claim that right now, because there are other forums where they are beginning to do the same thing. (I mean this purely on forums. Not websites like DF etc)Remember, you saw it here at the Union first! Forum dwellers should challenge each other with versions of any one game from these consoles.

Lets try and make it an ongoing thing here at the Union. ;)

Here's another. Which version is which?

They both look the same, fps is not the same. I'm going to play along and say top is ps4 though.

For anyone not noticing 30 fps and 60fps difference here's a simple website for that just hit start

Interesting, thanks. To me, the 60 fps is smooth, and the 30fps is noticeably choppier. I wonder who does that during games, though. I'm dizzy.

You shouldn't worry so much, man. Been playing it all night and it is very smooth on x1. Also, it's plenty dark. I Had to turn UP the brightness.its a beautiful game and the performance is super solid. Great lighting, tons of effects, near flawless iQ. They did a goo.d job

top one is 60 bottom is 30. Watching the digital foundry video though the ps4 version drops to mid 40s quite often and even as low as 30. A fluctuating framerate is very annoying. Anyone play NBA 2k on 360 should have experienced when playing is smooth 60 but camera cuts after shots would drop to high 30s. It was very distracting.
The difference between tombraider on xbox and ps4 is largely due to different studios developing both titles and one deciding to cap at 30 while the other for ps4 aimed at 60 and was unable to lock. Polygon gave x1 version an 8.0 and ps4 version a 7.5, saying the x1 version was more consistent and less distracting. Digital foundry made a similar analysis.

Got Ryse today and had a ball, playing single player for almost 2.5 hours. Loving it till I stopped playing and it said I finished 45% of the game! The f***? The story is only five to six hours long?

How long till watch dogs comes out again......

Considering the avg fps is 50 I find it hard to believe that it drops to 40 "quite often". Btw the team behind the ps4 version helped with the xb1 version as well. For some reason everyone keeps ignoring that fact while quoting different dev team excuse from same article.

Any game that drops to 19fps is not a 'judder free experience', nor is any game that has tearing (as the XB1 version does). It seems that the two devs did have differing opinions probably because it was tearing monstrously before it was limited to 30fps and most likely didn't go much higher then that most of the time.

Why does the X1 version look so bright here? Doesn't look like that when i play it. Also there is screen tearing? Am i just not playing the scenes where this is present or something? I tend to notice stuff like that ( especially in Alan Wake which had pretty bad screen tearing) haven't seen it since i have been playing.( i am up to the radio tower now) Also not seeing all this juddering and framerate drops, not saying it isn't there but it doesn't seem to be all that noticeable. shrugs...

the guy who recorded it turned up the in game brightness cause he couldnt see the TR logo in the brightness settings

my guess is his Xbox was set to Full black level and X1 doesnt support that well atm so he had crushed blacks resulting in him needing to turn the brightness up

Seems spot on as there's no need for the brightness to be like that!

So then after all the talk turns out the xbox one version was the better experience after all, LOL.

It gets better every time.

How is this better?

looking at the average fps, x1 is 29.84, and capped at 30, this means, it rarely drops frames. Not even 1 frame less than the 30 it is planned at. PS4 aimed at 60, average is 50, so this means it drops to 40 often, and holds 60 also. The inconsistency is what hurts the ps4 experience.
