It doesn't matter, it was released with current gen and sold along side current gen, with games that were made for all platforms (ex, CoD games).
Just because it's not as powerful as 360/PS3 doesn't mean it wasn't part of this generation. Claiming it's not part of current generation because of it's lack of power is like saying PS3 isn't part of this generation either, since the 360 was more powerful (or vice versa depending on who makes the claim).

Consoles are lumped in "generations" based on when they come out, not based on their power. Kinda why pc games are not considered as being part of these "generations".

Generations should be segregated based on technical and power differences, like say 32bit vs 64bit etc. Just because it sold along side the 360/PS3 does not make it a competing product either. As far as technical and power aspects go, Nintendo is a full generation behind, and they are paying the price of it now with the WiiU.

I would agree....but what should be and what is are different things. Generations as far as consoles go, are defined by the waves they come out in.

At this point, we know the amount shipped/sold is close between MS and Sony. Any difference in numbers really is going to be nit picking numbers.

Firmware update 1.5 for PS4 adds facial recognition and voice support. What's up with that? You'd need the camera not included for facial recognition.

I think Sony is going to have to add more support for their camera. If they want to compete they're going to have to. So ultimately people will still have to pay $500 for the "full" console.

Nope, not that I just don't care. It's just not a next gen system, nor is the U. If it was, I wouldve bought it. I dont care for the PS3, but I bought it eventually. Wii and the U is built for a diff market segment, mostly children and theyve been successful at it.

As for it being for a different market, that doesn't make it any less current gen hardware. You can say it isn't until you're blue in the face, but Wii is indeed considered as part of the 7th generation of consoles.

in theory sure it physically was there. "Next Gen"? Nah. Its for kids, out of shape lazy people and old folks in nursing homes.
