Thief

Massive fan of the original series on PC, so this is a no-brainer for me. Looks like they're sticking fairly true to the roots of the series as well. And relief washes over me, in an awesome wave.
Have you read previews? It's pretty much nothing like the old games.

Looks like it's shaping up well. Haven't been too interested in this since it was first announced. This will definitely be a game that I'll be waiting to hear impressions from reviews/people here.

I've been hearing some bad things from previews. Will wait and see.

They talk about stealth, but not like it was in the old PC games. Killing someone from the shadows isn't really stealth. This game looks a little too much like AC and not Thief.

Hmm, I watched the reveal gameplay that was released maybe a week ago - and the game play looked pretty true to the classics I remember, hence my statement.

Can't speak of the written "previews" though. Any that you can link me to specifically?

Does anyone else feel like this is a re-skinned version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution?

I've been hearing some bad things from previews. Will wait and see.

For what it's worth, Human Revolution received some pretty bad impressions before the game came out. Perhaps Eidos Montreal just doesn't know how to properly show off unfinished builds?

Not a fan of Deus Ex HR. It was a far cry from the original and just felt like a genic fps they bolted stealth onto. Hopefuly this is more tradition stealth but I have to agree with those saying AC vibe, and not in a good way. Also a little batman vibe from the way the are presenting it in the trailer.

I liked Deus Ex HR. It could've been better, but it was a worthy successor of the first game.

Eidos said they were pushing this to be the highest resolution and frame rate possible...anyone read what the results were?

From Deus DEx developer. This explain the lack of color. Deus Ex:HR was primary yellow, Thief was bluish grey.....

I kid I kid, big fan of Deus Ex, so its a confirm buy for me.

damn it, i'm torn on this one. it does remind me a bit of dishonored (which I love) but more realistic in visual style. ATM it appears if I pre-order it I can get the master edition for just under $38 through GMG. Guess I'll have to read some previews and see what's being said.

So from what I've read and understand, the ESRAM will always be a problem for 1080p because it's too small?

Well, most Xbox fans said 900p would be good enough for them so shouldn't be much complaints about this title at least.

Don't need a new thread for every "insider rumor" about an issue that the Xbox One has until developers start implementing the new SDK. When it becomes concrete then make a thread.

...I will still advice our readers to take it with a grain of salt and consider it as rumor only as official announcement is still awaited.

Thief outputs at a native 1080p resolution on PlayStation 4 and a native 900p resolution on Xbox One, Square Enix has confirmed to Eurogamer.

Both versions run at 30 frames per second.

Thief is the latest multiplatform next-generation game to perform best on PS4, following in the footsteps of the likes of Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Ghosts. This week Kojima Productions confirmed that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes would output on PS4 at 1080p and on Xbox One at 720p.

The difference in resolution with Thief isn't quite as stark as it is with Call of Duty and Metal Gear Solid. Thief's resolution on Xbox One mirror's that of Assassin's Creed 4 and Ryse, both of which output at 900p and 30fps on Xbox One.

"You really need good eyes to see the difference," game director Nicolas Cantin told Eurogamer of the resolution difference between PS4 and Xbox One, before insisting the Xbox One version "is as good as the PS4 version".

30 fps is most disappointing for me. Although for a game like that it shouldn't be too bad.

Just a thought, can we merge all resolution/FPS comparison/information in a single thread. With the trend that is going, we will need a new thread or so ever week or 2, discussing the same thing with just about every new AAA game release.

i would say maybe for now.. but post SDK, I think these "trends" will be mostly a thing of the past. It will go back to like last gen with Digital Foundry literally pausing, zooming, scaling, ya know, doing anything they can to make the games seem different.

IMO.. if a game comes out 1080p on PS4 and 900p on X1.. and they LOOK the same, I don't give a damn what tech babble anyone can come up with.. end result is the same. The game looks great.

'nother day 'noter resolution gap. Dat SDK better close dat gap.

So much for "struggling" to meet 900 though that an "insider," claimed yesterday.

I think peoples expectation have "adjust" a lot since next gen launched, which is why people are happy with 900p now. This could be the future trend with the new SDK, 900p on xbox, 1080p on PS4. Who knows.

Fun recall, Incidentally, 1080p is 30% more pixels than 900p, which is almost equivalent to 30% more performance. Remember MS flush off PS4 being 30% more powerful? Now most people are more than happy to accept the 30% parity. Not trying to rub off people, but I do find it irony & funny.

I do think visually, its not too much difference.
