I'm in....I'm pretty much always in....

I made some additional changes to my Halo 2A forged map that I want to test out tonight. Its up on my file share if anyone want to DL it ahead of time so they can run around on it.

Finding people's maps is a lot hard in Halo MCC than it used to be. If the person you want to DL from is online its pretty easy, but if they are not its a little more difficult.....see this video below for info on the round about way to get the maps of someone who is offline.



STEPS
1. Go to the start menu in HALO MCC
2. Go to leaderboards
3. Sort the list so it's only showing friends
4. Try to find the friend you're looking for on one of the leaderboards

I have finished Halo 1 and parts of Halo 2 on Heroic....that might be the best way to find me.
 
No idea....honestly I don't think the maps are very big.

It shouldn't be. All the components contained in a forge map are already on each persons hard-drive- they just have to be told where to be and what to do.

I wasn't sure but I thought that was the case...I think all you are downloading are the instructions for where to put everything.

I haven't yet completed this map in terms of all the game types....right now its set up for Slayer, Team Slayer and CTF....also, I haven't yet been able to set up a kill zone underneath the level so, if you fall off the map it takes a while before you die because you have to hit the map boundaries....anyone know how to set a kill zone underneath?
 
You can download it now if you want to run around on it and check it out....the only thing I want to change about it before we play on it tonight is that I want to add a kill zone underneath the map so that if you fall off you die when you hit the kill zone rather than falling until you go beyond the borders of the map and are killed.....it adds a few seconds to the time it takes you to die...but, I want to leave enough space underneath the board so the vehicles can fly underneath without being destroyed.

Leaderboard is buggy for me, i'm not seeing anyones names outside of the global list.

edit: the wife has commandeered the TV to watch the holiday special of Storage Wars... not even joking.

I need a second XBO.

Sorry for dropping out last night. My wife was giving the stink eye, so I had to go wrap Christmas presents (I did the majority, too :( ). Anyway, I suggest sending party invites to everyone in attendance so we can communicate. It's more fun with chat.

Well, the max number of people we had last night was six, and once again Grimaniel pretty much smoked everyone all night.

Those were the only four matches I remember from last night....went to Halo Waypoint and its only showing 3 matches...I know we played a few more than that.

Issues still going on with this game. My Mic wasn't working after a failed attempt to enter a party chat. When I left the party chat and came back to lobby it wouldn't work. Completely exited the game and attempted to shut down the system and that didn't work either. Kind of kills the customs when we can't talk in the lobby.

Never got around to trying out my map last night which I'm kind of bummed about but I think you need at least 4v4 on that map. Have to figure out some issues related to spawning anyways....I tried it out yesterday and the initial spawn weren't working the way I intended.

I think you have to party up outside the game for it to work. Not sure why. Did you guys play your custom map?

Edit: oops, you answered that in the last paragraph! Bummer, I am looking forward to trying it out. I downloaded it already, think I'll take a looksie tonight

I was dinkin' around in Forge the other day, and thought it might be fun if each of us just made a map and played them all one night. Finished or not, you could probably still play Slayer on them.

Figured out the problem with the spawns after watching a youtube tutorial. When I put the initial spawns on the map and went in to change the characteristics of the spawn points (hit X)....I thought that by changing the color of the item to the team color it was assigning that spawn point to a team...that isn't the right way to do it....the first item at the top of the meny says team...its automatically set to Nuetral...you have to change this option to assign the spawn points to the teams....the first option is attacking (which assigns the spawn to red team), next option is defending (blue), then team 3 (yellow), then team 4 (green) and the list goes on to the other 4 colors for up to 8 teams.....so I need to go back and redo all the initial and respawn points and assign teams to them that way rather than just colors...kind of confusing.

This is the issue with doing a customs night with all customs maps....I tried that a while ago with either Halo 3 or Halo: Reach....when we tried to play maps the spawns and other stuff was f***ed up and the games didn't work too well. Or people made maps that just didn't flow all that well.

If you're ever around and want to forge a map together I have an idea for a second map that I came up with yesterday. Would love to take advantage of all the new scripting functions in H2A forge.

Map Name: Nakatomi Plaza

A building that looks like an office tower.
  • Map mostly meant for a 1 bomb assault of 1 flag CTF game.
  • Multiple points of entry into the building which will be opened once a first wave switch is toggled....switch will activate/open other entrances for easier access to the building: front doors, parking garage with garage doors, sewer/tunnel, Balcony on second level with doors that will open.
  • Defending team Spawns at the top of the building turrets and rockets at top
  • Attacking team will spawn a distance away and have vehicles
  • Transition from floor to floor via
  • Stairwells in all four corners of the building
  • Elevator shafts in the middle of the building
  • Can use one way glass doors as floor for elevator
  • Aesthetics include: trees inside main lobby, Glass windows making up the exterior of the building, Building gets smaller for top floors–out side area where it gets smaller, Antenna at the top of the building
  • Respawn points change once switch is activated....
The tough part of something like this is the lower levels for the parking garage and the tunnel to get into the building....that lower level would need to be planned out ahead of time and then we would have to figure out a way to make the terrain around the building so as to blend the entrances of the lower level into a natural setting using either rocks or terrain pieces.

What you do is build the structure first and then the terrain around it. two glaring ommisions from the toolset is Undo and Scale for objects. The only thing I can think of for there being no scale option is that the textures are built specifically, and aren't dynamic. It does make for nice looking props though.
