Watch Dogs - May 27th 2014

I thought the watch dogs listing was a mistake, not an attempt to mislead people. They've messed up before listing Trials Fusion at 720p. It was up for 2 days over the weekend before they removed it on monday.

No insider ever said the Xbox One version was 720p. More utter lies and trolling. Pretty much everyone was saying it was 1080p 30 and 900p 30, but it looks like they dropped the res to get a better framerate late in development.

A $450 2 year old PC is going to run Watch Dogs better than PS4? Okay. Build it in pcpartpicker.

The Order is 900p+6.7% in pixel count, and in terms of native resolution it's 1080p with black bars covering parts of the screen. Again somewhat complicated like Killzone Multiplayer that doesn't fit into a sound byte or fanboys trying to score points. Of course kids love trolling by calling it 800p, despite that PS4 is still the more powerful console for games performance.

Some things were bought off of Ebay and some things were laying around my PC junkyard from working on/upgrading clients machines, sounds like you're just bitter man. But my bank account says otherwise since that is where the money was drawn from.

Cooler Master HAF - Client upgraded said I could have
Corsair GS800 - Client upgraded said I could have
Intel 4570- 160 bucks from microcenter
ASrock 4 Z87 mobo - 90 bucks from microcenter
Sapphire 7950 boost dual X 150 shipped from Ebay off of a miner.
DVD drive from my PC grave yard
8GB of DDR3 RAM from client that upgraded
Hard drive from a client that upgraded.
Already had a volume win 7 license.
Mouse and KB I already have,
and it's hooked up to a 50" plasma.

390 bucks now that I add it all up, which is even less than I estimated, that's all the cash that I put out from my pocket to build that machine. Things don't have to be from "PC part picker" to build your machine, only lazy beginners build PC's using that seeing as they don't even list microcenter prices which are a lot lower for CPU and mobo prices. PC part picker blows.

Just for you to get an idea of what the machine is capable of, it runs Crysis 3 at ALL High settings, 16X Anistropic, 2xSMAA at 55-65 FPS at REAL 1080p, not 800x1080 or 1600x900, 1920x1080. This machine is really my girlfriends who plays the Sims 3 on it, but it's more capable than next gen.

And don't say, "oh well it's all used blah blah blah" you said it wasn't possible period, it is possible. Now go cry in a corner.

"hobbled together PC" anecdotes are cute, but ridiculous. Let me guess, you "borrowed" the Windows license from piratebay, right?

Don't forget I own a good gaming PC myself that I'll be playing Watch Dogs and Witcher 3 on. Don't try to BS me with mustard race downplaying price antics. Pcpartpicker or stop hand waving.

Yeah, you really have to think of building a new PC from the casual mindset, all these hand-me-downs aren't really the typical situation for most consumers. All of those CPU coolers, DVD drives, power supplies, RAM, Harddrives, OS, Mouse and KB prices add up.

Yeah, but his point was rather obvious. Basing your cost on specific site is redundant. There are many places to buy from and buying new isn't the only way.

Unless you have an ATI/AMDcard, right.

4K on this game though I imagine would take some serious power. Doubt a single Titan/780 can do it with playable FPS.

No. I actually have a genuine windows volume license. I am in IT professionally.

You keep saying PC part picker, you're a master race beginner as I have already indicated that pc part picker does not show lowest prices and the PC isn't nearly as "hobbled" together as you indicate. I will provide pictures if need be. You're just jelly.

What's your definition of a "good gaming PC" and pictures please?

Oh, I don't know. I'm not hip enough to the whole PC gaming scene. I just thought the pic was LOLZ after both console versions taking a big dump.

Same here, my OS is genuine.

Funny that "cost" is only an issue for pc gaming, but for consoles, console gamers will drop so much money, and not question it. Just on console on live costs for the next eight years, a console gamer will have paid about the same as a good pc. That's not including the higher price for games (compared to frequent pc game deals).

But that's all I'll say, this isn't a pc thread.

Yea LOL @ paying to play online. I can't believe I payed all those years just to play online, I will never do that again.

Yeah, but my point was you have to look at it from the casual standpoint. I think most people would buy everything from one place rather than pick a part here and there like Ebay, kijiji, forums, craigslist. For the more enthusiastic crowd, it is definitely easier to pick and choose from wherever you can save the most money. This is where consoles is an obvious choice if they don't want the cream of the crop and don't want to spend more than needed to enjoy most games. This is just hardware though, excluding the extra costs of paying for Plus and live to pay online but the perks are now you have free games and additional discounts which is a good perk.

Steam and Origin have been giving away free games forever, and you don't have to pay for either of those services.

That is true as well. But to be fair, PS+ offerings are more recent, like within the year. Not sure about Games for Gold yet.

But you have to continue paying for PS+ to keep playing those games, so in all honesty, the games are really not "free", but rather, it's like a rental. Like netflix.

Who the hell wants to keep playing games anyway. I play them and move on. It's not really like renting at all, it is like an on-demand service and like it or not, every digital medium in the world is going to be that way sooner or later.

It's a limited rental service.

Not really. Rentals pretty much all have a time-frame in which you can use/consume a service. If this is a rental then I guess cable TV and internet services are rentals too. I know there is little actual differentiation, but rental just has a connotation of something used for a limited time.

I don't have PS+, but, it's my understanding that the games on the service are there for a limited time frame. I may be wrong.

They are available for download for a limited time, but once you have they are yours to play whenever so long as you continue to have the service. They are also not lost if you no longer pay for plus, but instead become inaccessible until you are once again a member. You may also re-download as many times as you want at any time in the future regardless of whether the game is still offered as a free plus game. I'm pretty sure this is the model that GwG is now taking, but I could be wrong.

Yes, I know but I was just adding them in as a perk for paying online so it's not like you're paying just for online. You're getting free fairly recent games for multiple platforms if you have them and additional discounts on games.

Yes for a month but you can just add and process into your account during that month's time and you can then download the games at your leisure whenever as long as you're a Plus member.

Folks we have an all out neckbeard royal rumble going on!

Did you have anything of importance to add to the technical merits of this discussion, or are you just going to derail the thread with reaction gifs?

GwG is now like PSN+ free games....at least in the terms of "rental". It's yet to be determined if Xbox One will get as new or as good of games as PSN+ does. If they follow their 360 path, they will be older titles...still putting it a step behind the PSN+ offering.

They most definitely are, when I canceled PS Plus over a year ago all the games I got for free were non playable.

It's still a rental. Just because you don't want to play them forever doesn't take away from that fact.

Facts:
You have to keep paying monthly to play the game.
You lose the game once you stop paying.
You don't own the game.

An on demand service as you put it is still a rental service.

Yes, you pay monthly, and you get to play monthly. Your time frame to consume the service is monthly.
And yes, TV and internet is a rental of sorts. You pay to rent the services.

Here's "rent" definition:
pay someone for the use of
and another:
Available for use or service in return for payment.

Bottom line, the games are not free, you pay for them, and the second you stop paying for the service, you lose the game.

It sure is just ducktaped together lol, I have comp science degree so what?

Throwing together just any old DDR3 with matching motherboard and cpu that fits doesn't make you an expert, it just says that your business is lacking as you can't even afford to build a proper pc.

PC Parts picker actually does show micro center prices, and for your info MicroCenter stuff is all refurbished and repackaged as "new." Their prices are higher on a lot of things than lets say newegg or amazon (which pcpartpicker also includes)

So now patched together $900 PC can barely do a game better than console and costs more than 2x.

Then not everyone wants to spend their time in basement searching for upgrade parts to play game resolutions, but instead pick up a console and play the game and ejoy it as much or even more than you for less money
