So now patched together $900 PC can barely do a game better than console and costs more than 2x.

lol, wut?

My pc built from scratch from Amazon and Newegg cost less than $900, and no...it doesn't "barely" do games better than consoles.
I play most of my games at 2560x1440 with performance at around 60 fps, and in many cases, higher. All with better settings than what next gen is putting out.

That's a far cry from "barely" better.

"hobbled together PC" anecdotes are cute, but ridiculous. Let me guess, you "borrowed" the Windows license from piratebay, right?

Don't forget I own a good gaming PC myself that I'll be playing Watch Dogs and Witcher 3 on. Don't try to BS me with mustard race downplaying price antics. Pcpartpicker or stop hand waving.

It sure is just ducktaped together lol, I have comp science degree so what?

Throwing together just any old DDR3 with matching motherboard and cpu that fits doesn't make you an expert, it just says that your business is lacking as you can't even afford to build a proper pc.

PC Parts picker actually does show micro center prices, and for your info MicroCenter stuff is all refurbished and repackaged as "new." Their prices are higher on a lot of things than lets say newegg or amazon (which pcpartpicker also includes)

So now patched together $900 PC can barely do a game better than console and costs more than 2x.

Then not everyone wants to spend their time in basement searching for upgrade parts to play game resolutions, but instead pick up a console and play the game and ejoy it as much or even more than you for less money

WTF are you talking about man? No one said that I built this machine for ANY kind of business and who said this was MY personal main gaming machine? It's my girlfriends. My personal machine cost over 2000 dollars to build MYSELF. My cooling solution costs more than the renting of your parents basement per month so please GTFOH with making s*** up and then saying I can't afford to make a proper machine? Please visit the RIGS thread to see my personal machine.

What a straight up delusional moron.

What the f*** are you talking about man?
You can throw a $150 dollar card into an existing computer and still have the PS4 and XB1 beat performance wise.

I'm tired of all the baseless BS 'oh herp derp, you need a $700 dollar card + $200 dollar CPU to compete'
You don't need near that much to play at higher res and higher frames and effects.

Eurogamer even confirmed this for f***s sake.

But in the here and now, for those with PC setups long overdue for an upgrade, the Radeon R7 260X could be seen as an economical alternative to buying a next-gen console. Visual quality in games like Assassin's Creed 4 and Battlefield 4 runs at a flat high setting with this GPU at no performance penalty, while console editions rely on curtailed LODs, and lowered texture filtering settings. We couldn't help but expect more from the new platforms - especially from PS4, where the GPU architecture offers a range of advantages over the Bonaire core at the heart of the R7 260X (though to be fair, at 1.9TF, the R7 260X marginally out-scores PS4's overall compute power).

Now cry moar.

You're misinformed.

150$ GPU + 240 for the rest of the system.
$150 for 1-2GB and games today ask for 2-4GB

Just couple of posts up you said $390 for rest and now it's $240. Yeah sure when you use someone elses old crap, which is a pure example of a PC that needs constant upgrades to keep up with anything.

Nobody said that, can you even read?!?!?!?!? I said said 150 dollars GPU and 240 dollars for the rest of the system, I believe that equals 390 dollars total spent on the system. Since when is Corsair Vengeance DDR31600 ram someone else OLD crap? You're a moron man, just leave the thread, you first off cannot read and are trying to put words in my mouth that I CLEARLY never said and you don't have the technical know how to talk about PC's, take your 'computer science degree' havin ass outta here, I had one of those when I had just turned 19 7 years ago, which mean't jack squat for the job field.

My gpu is only 2g and my pc utterly smashes anything consoles put out.

Can you fully comprehend that playing a game like BF4 at a resolution of 2560x1440 with textures settings at about 125% and ultra is compared to console? I get about 45-50 fps at that high resolution, close to 100 fps at 1080p. Next gen consoles struggle to maintain 45-50 fps at less than 1080p resolution and other visual settings lowered than on pc.

Next gen consoles are already gimped next to a "mid range" gaming pc.

I can't stand this common misconception that people here CONTINUE to spew about pc gaming cost.
