What movies have you seen recently?

Looper - Good (Revised)

I had rated it higher in the past. I’ve only seen it once and decided to watch it again. It’s a little too all over the place to rate it higher. Too many underdeveloped storylines to make it a great movie. Still, I enjoyed it. I should watch Brightburn and Chronicle again.

From Beijing with Love - 7/10

A comedic take on James Bond movies by Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle). Bought it on Vudu for around six bucks even though it's only the English dub.

Unstoppable - I've heard Tarantino talk about how underrated this is on multiple podcasts. I haven't seen it since it came out, didn't remember it much. Fun watch

Dune -
Sequel prep, only 2 weeks away!

Beekeeper - Average

Jason should not have done this movie. The FBI agent chick was absolutely horrid.

Jason needs to redeem himself. As bad as Expendables 4 was, it was better than this. Jason is better than this.

I finally watched Oppenheimer on Peacock and I was... not super impressed? Maybe just too much hype, but it felt too... Nolan-y? If that makes sense?

First off, what is it with Christopher Nolan movies and bad dialog audio? Not as bad as Bane in Batman, but for a movie with mostly just talking, I can't flipping hear the dialog. I'm seriously tempted to re-watch with captions on.

Honestly I would have liked just a more straight forward movie. This movie bounces around so quickly with no telling you what the year is. It is obvious when the character is much older, but there's lots of time I'm sitting there trying to figure out the date from context. It made it feel more like Inception or Tenet. I know the history, but I don't know what date this new conversation is taking place in.

Great acting and still enjoyable, but honestly, I would have preferred a chronological story. I love Nolan's style for many things... but this felt like it needed a little less Nolan and a little more order.

Oppenheimer, most overhyped movie this decade...I guess you amerikans automatically find it more enjoyable because amerika, but imo it's not a great movie. It's a good movie though.

I watched Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning this morning on Paramount+ first time since seeing it in theater. Damn good film can’t wait to see part two and how they end all this.

I watched Oppenheimer tonight. Really liked this viewing more than theater taking in the detail and small things throughout. I think it’s a great film.

In my opinion with how much story they have to pull from and the aftermath it’s enough for a streaming series, Nolan did an amazing job pulling this story off in 3 hours. I don’t mind it jumping around I had no trouble following it the first time. The performances, cinematography, musical score are top notch. Now saying all this I do understand why this movie is not for everyone though lol. I do hope those that watch it that don’t know much about this time period seek more of its history. For me I’ve been interested in WW2 more than any other time in American history. Such a fascinating time that changed the world.

I have Commando Directors Cut in 4K. Watched it last year. Still a fun action flick with prime Arnold.

I also have the Rocky collection started rewatching them awhile back. I think I was up to part 3. Those early movies are still great imo.
Commando is great.
