What movies have you seen recently?

Iron Claw: good

I've never watched pro wrestling. Never heard of this family. Film held my attention mostly because of the foreboding nature of the storytelling. Yet somehow in the end, the film felt a bit empty. Needed more closure than just some text on a screen.

Finally saw Wonka, and wasn't overly impressed. C.

I'm a big fan of the original, and as much as I like Burton, his version was awful. This one took a different route, and was a little too musical-y for me. It felt more like watching a stage play on film to a degree. Chalamet was a pretty good Wonka, but the rest of it fell flat.
I think if I had never seen the original (and yes, I know this is more of an origin story and not based on the book as much) and hadn't read the book, I might have scored it a little higher.

Caught up on some more movies in recent weeks.

Dumb Money - I remember following this when it happened, such a wild story and is still crazy how big Wall Street can get away with s***. God forbid the general public make some money that would impact their lives. Movie was great and has a really good cast. Watched it on Netflix.

Hypnotic - Ben Affleck’s newer film that came out in recent years written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. While the concept is pretty cool… the movies execution as a whole not so much. There are a few parts I liked and it’s entertaining at times, but in the end it feels like a poor man’s Inception just no where near that good. I give Rodriguez props for attempting something like this. Watched it on Peacock.

Killers of the Flower Moon - Martin Scorsese doing what he does best. Great film, such an interesting time in America. Leo played a moron well lol. De Niro showed he can still give a great performance. Watched it on Apple TV.

John Wick 4 - A kick a**, emotional, final act to this run of movies. Was satisfied with the ending. That top down view shotgun scene was f’ing awesome! Watched my 4K digital copy.

The Nun II - it's what you expect from The Conjuring universe. I enjoyed it, although most was predictable.

Aquaman & Lost Kingdom: 7/10

I'm going to get a lot of heat for this, but I actually enjoyed it. The dialogue was terrible, but the action was good and the CGI was way better than recent comic book films. Good pacing and good chemistry between Momoa and Wilson made the film entertaining.

Actually it did. They hit all the major points wrapping up the first book.
Hitting major points doesn't excuse a drawn out movie. Every Batista scene could have been cut. The bald pale guys didn't need that much screen time, etc.

It is like writing a sentence. Sure, a long rambling sentence hits all points and makes sense, but a shorter, more concise sentence does the same and is better.

Hard Boiled

It sucks that you have to watch sub-DVD quality uploads of John Woo classics on Youtube because the movie rights have been locked down for years by companies who aren't interested in the movie business.

On a related side note, we need a modern remake of Stranglehold.

Too damn long. Didn't need to be that long.
NOTED!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. From the guy that knew Oppenheimer was a masterpiece the moment he saw the trailer, booked the best seat in the IMAX house when it went to theatres, and f***ing hated the distractions there.

I will watch this at home. And maybe I'll just shut up about movie theatre experiences from now on.

Can't wait to watch this, but wait I will.

Oppenheimer came up big at the Academy Awards tonight. Great film and probably the most important/worst moment in mankind’s history.

Well, think about it.

Oppenheimer didn't actually make the bomb, he just got there first.

And when he successfuly created it, he was discarded. He was brought to whatever goes on in America because he didn't think the hydrogen bomb was necessary..........

And they f***ed him over. What he did do, was create something that was going to be created by someone else, and then wanted to create a discussion on not using this thing ever again if possible.......

That is a noble man. But it's also Hollywood so I don't acutally know.

What I do know is Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. were f***ing amazing and I'm super cool with the awards this year, and I don't even sit down and watch this s*** anymore.

We need Ricky Gervais for all awards shows IMO. Put these f***ers in their place. (I'm joking around btw)

It was either Oppenheimer or Barbie.

Pick your poison, right?

(I'll have the bomb)
