Why CoD is 720 on X1.....

Thank goodness the mode most will actually play (mp)runs good ;)

Or Not.

From Polygon (in addition to the other sources saying the same thing)

Much has been said about the fact that the PlayStation 4 version of the game runs at a native 1080p, and while that may be true, the game did struggle to maintain a steady framerate, especially in hectic multiplayer matches. The PS3 version of the game ran into similar problems, whereas the Xbox 360 version maintained a steady 60 frames per second.

Reading this Adam Sessler hate thread on Neogaf about the same subject, I am asking myself if I am the only one who thinks a lot of the reactions sound zealozy and like a lot of posters have it out of Microsoft? I mean really out for them; http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=709442

I don't know why, but it feels to me that people were always annoyed that PS3 had the problems it had and that it was "arrogant Sony" making all those mistakes, because Sony has such a loyal following. It's the company that made the Walkman, the transistor radio, DVD, CD and so many other technologies. I think peoples inherited fanboyism lies a lot deeper with that company than Microsoft.
But I am not sure. I might be looking at all this in a wrong way.

For all sake of all the interent, I hope the X1 version runs smooth at 720p.

I agree blue.
My problem with PS3 multiplatform titles being inferior was not the small graphical knicks and crannies. It was framerate. Resolution doesn't me from experiencing the play of the game. low choppy framerates hurts my eyes and makes it difficult to look at. In that sense I am much more for steady frames at 60fps than 1080p.

Not sure about that, if it runs better at a lower resolution despite the PS4's spec difference the internet might explode. Seems everyone is expecting the X1 version to run even worse because they feel it had to be dropped to 720p due to incapable hardware.

Shouldn't a game run smoother at a lower res.lol

Yes, all things being equal. But the comments I have seen so far on some of the reviews have said that if the PS4 has framerate issues with it's superior specs then the X1 must really have issues if they couldn't even get to 1080p. Either way it looks like the game is only mediocre, wonder how well it will sell. I know some people were expecting it to do GTAV numbers but I don't think it will break BO/BO2 numbers.

I personally bought BO2 hadn't bought a COD since WAW before that and I remembered why I quit buying them. The game just doesn't do anything for me anymore.

Yeah I quit around WaW too, but I my friends all said BO/BO2 had good story.. still can't believe that guy from BO won best character over John Marston lol.

If the XB1 version runs smooth I'm going to just LOLZ at the internet! If it doesn't run smooth, I'm going to LOLZ at infinity ward for their seemingly horrible engine!

So much useless argument and ranting on resolutions and FR on a game that looks garbage. There is nothing next gen about this game, if you weren't told it was running on next gen hw, it could be mistaken for a ps360 game. IW needs more time to get the ball rolling on next gen, passing up on this game and will wait for the next call of duty (hopefully with a new engine).

Never mind the fact that he purposely skews the Flop differential by including the GPU reservation on the X1 but putting the PS4 at full flops. The spec comparisons are getting old, but anything for people to feel better about their purchase right?

I do not read far enough in to spot such things

What I do find odd is that these Pro PS4 folk do not seem to have an issue with FPS drops in a COD game. If it isn't a steady FPS, it isn't worth playing it. COD is too fast paced to have shaky FPS. I know the MP part hasn;t been said to have it either way, but If I was them I would be worried.

Honestly I think COD games need to be taken down a peg in order to force Acti to change the forumla, instead of pushing out cookie cutter versions of the previous games with little improvement. Seriously, it's due time a new engine was made. If TF does remotely well perhaps it will put pressure on them to change things up a bit.

Even though it will bite me in my ass. I am giving Acti the benefit of the doubt on this cross gen version. There is no way they can seriously be considering using this mediocre engine for next gen games. I was hoping at the very least that would use the ID engine from RAGE or something like that, but crossed fingers they used something like the crytek engine or UE4.

TF in all honesty isn't much better. It too is using an old crappy engine, but they get leniency cause they're a start up company trying to get off the ground. Hopefully they change engines for the next in the TF series or their new IP.

I'm hoping that Source 2 will be out by then and they move to that, or another top end engine.

Logically I would think IW/Treyarch will develop or use a next gen engine for future COD's, at least I would hope they would..they couldn't seriously just keep using the same engine expecting things to get better could they?

We are talking about a company that think adding a dog and fish A.I is announcement worthy news. So who knows.

if this is true treyarch won't be making next years

Doesn't sound good. Same engine, and back to WW2.

Call of Duty is an upcoming game from Treyarch, set for release in November 2015 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with an alternate version developed by Infinity Ward for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U, running on the same engine as Call of Duty: Ghosts. It is a reboot of the franchise, bringing it back to it's roots while taking many of it's developments with it, returning to the setting of World War II.

I would be passing on any throwback setting. I don't want to lose all the tech gadgets. Just like I don't like period piece films.

Yeah it's not. Sledgehammer is suppose to be making next call of duty but guess we'll see.

I'm not really sure what you mean.

So what is a period piece movie ? Cause I would have thought movies like Assassination of Jesse Jame, and There will be blood would be considered such, and you like those movies
