Standard "non-ultimate" edition of Control confirm.ed.

Bummer that Mudrunner is leaving, hopefully we get Snowrunner at some point.

The non-ultimate edition is still a great game. Awesome if you have Game Pass.

I wouldn't mind doing some Gang Beasts with the forum members.

Oh good, makes me feel better about my purchase at least!

Also good news that Greedfall is coming, hopefully it’s still in GP when the series X patch lands

OMG, this is what makes Gamepass so awesome and infuriating at the same time. I just purchased Control and now its on GP, yeah, yeah I know I got the Ultimate Edition for dirt cheap but still. Watch the same happen to Maneater and SW; Squadrons because of course I just purchased those on sale too.

Ultimate Edition is the only version that will be getting the next gen / ray tracing upgrade. You made the right choice!

Sounds like this version of Dragon Quest is launching the same day as it's Game Pass release, pretty cool.

If it makes you feel any better, I've done the same with other games.

The thing is, this latest sale before appearing on GP has happened to me more than once. Now I'm going to be cautious about any sale thinking it'll be on GP and I might lose out on a sale if the game doesn't appear. I'm sure this has happened to other gamers and If this keeps happening it'll blow up and MSFT will be accused of a sort of "Bait & Switch" practice for an otherwise great gaming service losing all the goodwill it's got since the inception of GP.

Pretty sure the publishers for the games are determining this, not Microsoft. But from a consumer perspective, it's Microsoft.

MSFT is in the driver's seat here. They determine when a game appears for sale on their store front and when a game appears on GP. And I don't think its a coincidence that a game appears on GP shortly after it was put on sale. Again, MSFT better be careful about this because it doesn't take a genius to link this together and make it appear bad for MSFT and in today's climate its impossible to determine what will blow up to epic proportions and hurt their brand so they should get ahead of this before media attention shines a light on this .

Ohhh look, Greedfall is also coming and I purchased it about two months ago when it was also on sale. And I still haven't played it yet. Ok, its obvious I have poor impulse control when it comes to sales.

I could be wrong here, but I still believe it's the publisher that determines if their game goes on game pass, unless of course MS contributed to the development of it.

Wouldn't it be Remedy that puts the game on SALE (because they are looking for extra sales because they haven't pushed many copies lately), and wouldn't it be Remedy that offers their game on Game Pass (because they are looking for extra exposure or income as the sales decline of their title). I don't think MS can tell publishers they have to put their games on sale or put their games on game pass. I know that MS will "curate", essentially saying you can't put a title on Game Pass, or they can reach out to a publisher and say "hey, we think your game would be a great fit, if you are interested".

I could be wrong, but that is my understanding. But that is "behind the scenes". From the consumer end (those besides us core gamers), they won't know any better, and they will see that "Microsoft" is the one pulling the strings, and they will assume Microsoft is the one failing at the timing of the game release.

Solid lineup of games coming soon awesome! Even though I'll still probably be playing cyberpunk and Valhalla. Just add it to the backlog

I'd also assume that in a mega-corporation like Microsoft, the team responsible for working with publishers on sales likely has little to no visibility into what's coming to Game Pass, and vice versa with the team involved with Game Pass. You regularly see games on Game Pass, Games With Gold , or PS+ on sale in the store at the same time they're free as not everyone is a member of these services.

It was a while back but I remember reading about how games on digital storefronts are handled when it comes to sales. Basically a publisher gives the store front operator a timeframe or window that the game can appear for sale so the store front operator can include that game with others on sale. There are times when a huge game is put on sale and is highlighted by the store front operator.

MSFT is keenly aware of their GP release schedule as its negotiated far out in advance and are also aware of which game is put on sale and when. Also, according to data released GP increases sales of games and MSFT uses that as an incentive to get games on their service while also using their checkbook when all else fails. I really don't think MSFT is innocent in the practice of sales prior to release on GP and in fact I'd say its a deliberate practice on their part to increase sales which they get a cut of.

But this doesn't explain my inability to ignore a sale for a games that I know I won't play because I'm busy with something else. So I basically need to learn some control and not jump on these sales just because I was mildly interested and the price is cheap. That's on me.

Haha, same here. I'm still likely going to pull the trigger on Watch Dogs Legion so I can see that ray tracing goodness, even though I'm already contending with a large group of games at once with Cyberpunk in the immediate future!

I tried the Star Wars Squadrons trial included with EA Access last week. I thought it was fun (though i sucked and didn't really know what I was doing), and the graphics / performance were great. That said, I think I may hold off on that one for the time being. "Think" being the key word, Mandalorian has me kinda Star Wars obsessed at the moment.

Of course watching this Borderlands 3 next gen video analysis by DF has me wanting to finally pull the trigger on that too....

How did Xbox do in that analysis?

If it makes you feel better I purchased Maneater at full price, so I’m worse off than you if it hits gamepass lol

Watch Dogs is a fun game and if it wasn't because of another certain Ubi title that awakened the inner Viking within me I'd still be playing it. Squadrons looks fun, like you I only played the trial but it was enough for me. Plus it was on sale for really cheap like $25 or something like that so no regrets.

I didn't know DF did a Borderlands 3 nextgen performance review. I'll need to check that out because I really liked that game. But I hope DF did a proper test because that game allows for builds that can kill the framerate. I'm thinking of my past and very popular Grenade Moze build that had so many explosions on screen that I could barely make out what was happening on screen while bringing the framerate to its knees, but that didn't stop me from pulling the trigger, hehe. BL3 is probably a game I'd play using performance mode because as you well know that franchise is balls to the wall action.

Guess this happens to all of us if you're a gamer for long enough.

At least from what little I played was fun. The bite mechanic was so satisfying that for the roughly two hours I played I must have spent 1:45 of that time just swimming and biting stuff, haha.

I literally don’t purchase games and wait for the GP announcement. Once, it’s in GP, I’ll buy it if it’s leaving GP and I still want it. Purchasing both Fallen Order and Control crossed my mind earlier this year, but I waited for them to come to GP, and sure enough...
