Amazon tends to do that with ip that had a small fan base or is kinda an unknown, they did that with “the boys” and a few other shows

I think they did it with Reacher as well. It isn't until they really take off that they go week to week.

It's far from optimal for most.
It's more for the hardcore (like me) and the niche market.

And Microsoft gaming is all about being more like a third party publisher to get that growth. Pivot in strategy may not be a bad thing for them, they just need to find a direction and focus on it.
Probably not for me.
