Like some one said a Porsche vs a Muscle car.
its absolutely accurate. Who cares if the actual hardware in the machine is impressive when one considers the raw numbers. But lets not try and hide the facts here: The XBO shows its just as powerful a machine as the 4 with lesser hardware. Do we really care how it gets there? I dont. Never have. I dont even understand most of the tech side anyway. What I do know is that the X1 and the 4 are eerily similar when it comes to what we see in games. No one care about parity in hardware when the games look amazing across the board. The XBo doesnt need to meet parity in hardware. It just needs to continue showing itself as an immensely powerful gaming and entertainment console--as it already has.

Hey, a non tech guy, isn't it great that we can just enjoy the games! It must be a downer sometimes knowing all that stuff. I think some people get to deep into it, and it doesn't allow them to fully enjoy the thing.

I'm playing Ocarina of Time on my N64 right now, and couldn't care less about console hardware disparities. If a game is fun on whatever I'm playing it on, I'm a happy camper.

Speak for yourself. I was a total dick to'em, last gen. Ah, the heady days of smugness past.:D
won't matter either way. Just keep the games coming. I mean really what the heck will make some people happy,Movie style graphics? There games, that's one of the reason I'm looking forward to Sunset Overdrive. It doesn't look real, just fun comedy. The first part of their E3 showing I was thinking great another friggin war game. Ooh look his sweat is so realistic, lol. Then dude popped out. Man it was a breath of fresh air.
Dont get me wrong I like good graphics, a lot great ex Halo 4 at first some of the Cinamas I thought were actual people. It wasn't until I noticed the fingers that I realizes it wasn't . I was amazed.

Whats so different that gamers became so petty this generation compared to those before it? Its fascinating and embarrassing at the same time...

You must be young. It's been ugly as sin on both sides since the days of the original Xbox.

...And is it just me, or are people really missing the big picture here. Regardless of the hardware in the 4, and the XBO with not as remarkable hardware, it honestly doesnt seem to matter.
I agree 110%. I keep wondering if that extra power in the PS4 is ever going to translate into anything meaningful. But they have literally no exclusives I want. I may one day want to play The Last of Us, but that's about it. Everything else is either cross platform, or something I don't care about. I realize that's just my taste, but there it is. The only exclusives that have ever appealed to me this past generation are the Halos, Gears, and Mass Effect (when it was exclusive). So if there's a minor difference in power, should it really make a difference to me? No.

But I will still take it upon myself to help people stop deluding themselves about buzzwords that don't mean anything (secret sauce, etc.). It just makes us all look bad. Find the system that has the games you want, and go with it. Don't worry about the nonsensical marketing messages, go with what you want to play. And let's hope that the competition keeps both companies working their asses off to make great games.

I think a lot of people are like me. When they think back to those times gaming forums were not really a big part of our lives. So our memories are based more on person to person interactions rather than mass scale forum discussion.

The PS4 hardware advantage is in the same boat as the MS cloud technology. Only first party are really going to show it off, and it is a bit too early for that. Maybe Q4 next year will start to show it, for both consoles. Personally, I would much rather have things like driveatar A.I over 180 extra pixels or a few more particles floating on screen.

I concur...

Spencer Talks About Xbox One Exclusive Scalebound Playable Build, More JRPGs for Xbox, GamesCom and More

Scalebound from Platinum Games as Xbox One exclusive was the surprising announcement that came out from Microsoft's E3 2014 presser, but apart from a Cinematic trailer we saw nothing, no real-gameplay or some word on game's storyline, characters. Phil Spencer, Xbox Division boss has just confirmed via Twitter that Scalebound playbable build is already available internally and there's no ETA when it will be shown to general public.

"Don’t have the next PR event set, working on the game, we are playing the game but I’m not sure when we’ll show playable or talk story."
Phil Spencer also revealed that he is still interested in more JRPGs for Xbox platform and admitted that Microsoft didn't have expected success on Xbox 360, might be due to the fact that they didn't try to push them enough.
"Yea, we haven’t had huge success on XBOX with JRPGs but we probably haven’t tried enough."
Additionally, Spencer confirmed that all Xbox One games that Microsoft will showcase at Tokyo Game Show will "almost certainly" arrive in Western region as well.

"Don't have the lineup set but I'd say the answer is almost certainly yes."
Regarding preparation for GamesCom 2014, Spencer replied that the actual plan isn't ready yet but work on it will begin soon infact very soon.
So there you have it folks, Phil Spencer addresses all issues related to Platinum Games' Scalebound, a playable build are available internally its just that Microsoft is awaiting for the right time to talk about it.

I generally agree with this. I think you're downplaying the number of multiplats that perform better (higher res or framerate) on PS4 compared to X1. But as far as that is concerned, I'll add a corollary to your statement: I'd prefer giving up 180 pixels on multiplats if it means I can play the games I want, like Halo, Gears, etc. (and I believe the gap is closing between the two as the X1 SDK improves and devs get used to the unusual memory architecture).

Not downplaying the multiplat differences. I just do not think that trend will continue. Well, not on the same scale anyway. By fall 2015 I think there will be nigh on parity between multiplats. Resolutions, frame-rates will be the same. Obviously the PS4 is more powerful so some differences will be present.

We are barely half a year in to the new life-cycle. I think it is time for people to chill out a bit and just enjoy the software for what ever hardware you own. It is all that really matters.

The good news for Xbox One just keeps rolling out in droves.

Will post this in here too. Clarification on what the new JUNE SDK kinect resources means.

Coming off a great week for Xbox at E3, we’ve seen some questions regarding the June XDK (Xbox Development Kit) update we recently announced. The June XDK offers many new tools for developers, including more access to additional GPU bandwidth. While this update was designed with developers in mind, we also realize that many gamers like to know how their favorite games are created and have questions about the development process. We had the chance to chat with Kareem Choudhry, the Director of Development, Xbox Software Engineering, to get answers to some of the top questions we’ve been seeing.

Xbox Wire: What was announced?

Kareem Choudhry:
Just as we continue to innovate on the features we offer to our fans, we also are continuing to innovate for developers. Just as with Xbox 360, over the life of Xbox One, the team will continually strive to enable title developers to access additional potential on the Xbox One platform. We continue to optimize the platform, make new technology investments, and give titles increased flexibility to use the features that best meet their needs. We’ve offered new updates to developers since the launch of Xbox One and the recent availability of the June XDK for developers offers developers more access to GPU bandwidth, which provides more performance, new tools and flexibility to make games better.

Xbox Wire: What is the benefit of this change?

Kareem:
Developers have more choice and flexibility to manage the resources of the Xbox One to deliver bigger and richer game experiences. Previously, 10% of the GPU was reserved for system level processing which included Kinect-related skeletal tracking data. With this change, titles that are not using skeletal tracking with Kinect can choose to use that portion of the system reserve for other purposes. We have also optimized the entire system so that titles have access to 100% of the Xbox One GPU for increased resolution and graphical effects.

Xbox Wire: What features are lost if developers use the extra GPU performance?

Kareem:
Kinect Depth and infrared sensors which enable biometric sign-in skeletal tracking, controller pairing, etc. will no longer work for these game titles. Developers can choose to disable Kinect depth and infrared sensing in different parts of their titles. The full Kinect experience including skeletal tracking is automatically re-enabled when the user switches back to Home (or other applications), even while in the middle of a game.

Xbox Wire: What about Snap, Broadcast, Voice commands and other system features? Will they still work if a game uses the extra resources?

Kareem:
Yes. Platform level voice commands such as “Xbox On,” “Xbox, Record That,” and “Xbox, Go Home” will continue to work as they do today, as will any in-game speech commands or Snap mode. The Kinect (RGB color) camera will still continue to work, so your friends can watch you while you’re playing your favorite games. Snap mode for TV, Achievements and other features will continue to work.

Xbox Wire: Do I have to unplug my Kinect for my games to get more GPU?

Kareem:
No. Whether a Kinect is attached or detached will not impact extra GPU processing capability. It is up to developers to utilize the June XDK for games in development to take advantage of these additional GPU resources.

Xbox Wire: Will games I already own now get 1080p if I just unplug Kinect?

Kareem: No. It is up to developers to utilize the June XDK for games in development to take advantage of these additional GPU resources.

Xbox Wire: What’s your commitment to Kinect?

Kareem:
We continue to believe that Kinect delivers a premium experience for Xbox One, and we’re committed to Kinect. Kinect games will still have full Kinect support, and we will continue to have the $499 (USD) bundle with Kinect available for people that want the complete Xbox One experience.

Xbox Wire: What games plan to take advantage of the extra GPU or resources?

Kareem:
We’re working with developers that have games in development to help them understand and take full advantage of what these changes have to offer. Several titles have already publicly stated they intend to benefit from the extra performance, including “Destiny” and “Sunset Overdrive.” [/QUOTE]

Anyone here speak Portugese..? Sorry no link but if someone can verify I'd appreciate it:

"If you go to your XBox in Portugues Brasil You will access a interview from the Brazilian Xbox Ceo on Inside xbox brasil. He said its gonna be a lot of games and excited news for Xbox in the next weekends!"

Nothing new there... but Sniper Elite 3 looks awesome. Can wait to get my dirty little hands on it.
I just wish some of the titles coming out in October could be moved to those summer months. I'm not sure if that list has them all, but there are like 5-6 games I want in October alone, not just X1 exclusive of course.

A bit more spreading would be nice. September, October, and November are going to be busy months for many gamers.

There is a demo up for Thief 4 and Outlast w/DLC is out.

Also, make sure you guys keep an eye on the Deals with Gold. There seems to be new games on sale every day, right now it's Tomb Raider and Strider.
