Maybe even bigger. I think Twitch had over a million watching alone. Add in Mixer, YouTube, etc and probably over 2 million. Do any of the individual companies hit that high at E3?
It only makes sense if it's NOT 12 TF. If it was, they'd go with it. I'd put my money on it actually having less than twelve, but since that number doesn't mean as much in terms of actual performance, they went with "twice as powerful as X" because it's true and sounds good. My guess- less than 12. They'd say it if it was. It's honest, but they want to avoid the inaccurate comparison.True MS worded it vaguely. But people will believe in things that they want to believe in, and be skeptical of things that they don’t.
I'm skeptical/hopeful it's 12 or more.True MS worded it vaguely. But people will believe in things that they want to believe in, and be skeptical of things that they don’t.
If it wasnt 12, theyd correct the misinformation as well. Especially as theyd want to make sure the launch and official reveals without a hitch. There's been a few points of misinformation and Microsoft has come right out to make it right. If anything, its probably more.It only makes sense if it's NOT 12 TF. If it was, they'd go with it. Yeah. I remember chatter about RDNA and what it means for Tflops. But I think I read somewhere, Phil said something about using a simple metric for consumers to understand the power output in Lamens terms. Frankly, Im grateful as I dont really understand all the tech talk that goes on in the gaming community.Again, it’s going to be different with RDNA. Even if it’s less than 12 on paper, it’s going to be able to do much more per TF than the current GCN architecture. Add that to HW-based RT, and the other bells and whistles like VRS, and it’s going to perform like far above a current 12 TF machine. Plus it’s a console, so once the devs get the hang of it, they should be able to squeeze more out of it than a PC.
And I’m not making excuses...I still think it’s going to be 12+.
This RDNA, is it only dealing with ray tracing?
Didn’t someone at Xbox say that the SX will have a dedicated hardware piece to handle it? If so would it have its own separate tflop rating? And would that be better?
I could see 12 tflops being ok if the ray tracing is done separately.
Dude, where’s our dedicated physics processor? MS has a developer tool set, besides havok, out there no?
Tasty!
I'm not sure I'd use the Infinite graphics not looking like COD cutscene as too much of an indicator. Halo has always been stylized visually. Everything looks hand-modeled instead of 3d scanned (which COD obviously uses, and gets the data for Photogrammetry).
There is also the aspect of scale. If Halo is going more old school, then scale would absolutely have an effect on what rendering priorities they emphasize. I mean, look at the COD engine and the difference in the small and large maps.
TLDR: We haven't seen enough of Slipspace to know what it will ultimately look like, and the art style is much more stylized than COD's realism.
Oh I know, but if you look at things like the guys arm in the infinite cut scene he looks like a current gen model dressed up, of course that was done over a year before the game launches and maybe they'll do more work on it before it comes out. I just didn't see anything other than maybe his hair in that trailer that jumped out as "next gen" it mostly just looks like a high res current gen cut scene.
There are things in the engine trailer that look very nice and things that don't like the dirt kicking up from the vehicles still looks like the same old 2D stuff we've been seeing for a long time now. I was hoping we'd get some volumetric effects for that kind of thing because that always looks so cheap in games. I know we can't have everything but that still would be nice and that's not a knock on the engine or XSX it's something that companies do on all consoles and it always stands out to me.
Cloud powered clouds. An am encouraged by so many games incorporating volumetric clouds though...
Cloud powered clouds.
well when they said that the XBOX ONE X was going to be the amount on their TF, they did hit it. So, I will go with what they said.If it wasnt 12, theyd correct the misinformation as well. Especially as theyd want to make sure the launch and official reveals without a hitch. There's been a few points of misinformation and Microsoft has come right out to make it right. NahBlame MS don't blame people for assuming after the way they say things.
Using sense.....that new architecture and double the TF's would be well over double.Nah
Every known insider has stated that Its 12 TF's yet all the PS fans are trying to rewrite what was stated clearly by Phil:
" Using math we are 2 times more powerful than Xbox One X"
He stated using math.
6TF's x 2 = 12 TF's as that's the only math you could use. When Phil stated the XB1X was 4.5 times the Xbox One he didn't take into account the Architectural improvements that also came with the newer HW just like he's not with XSX.
PS fans are trying to perpetuate falsities, 1st that XSX is less than 12TF's and 2nd if it is 12 TF's than PS5 is 13 TF's. Current PS5 dev kits are 10.24 TF's and the SOC is 300mm.
Oberon devkit is 40CU at 2.0ghz for 10.24 teraflops (4 inactive 44CU's total). Those dev kits run super hot that is why they have the custom V shape design. Early Scarlett kits were 10 TF's. That lead to rumors that they were close but PS5 was slightly more powerful.
2nd gen Scarlette dev kits are a full 12 TF's.
Phil also knows gamers would dissect any statement he makes.
If XSX is anything less than 12 RDNA TF's, Phil's a liar.
Phil didn't say a number though.well when they said that the XBOX ONE X was going to be the amount on their TF, they did hit it. So, I will go with what they said.
It will perform better than double but you can't claim it since its difficult to quantify and will depend on the game.Using sense.....that new architecture and double the TF's would be well over double.
Phil didn't say a number though.
This actually almost confirms it being under or over.
Dishonest, or in the end after testing, s*** broke or overheated and they don't want a broken ass RROD machine on the store shelves. I want them to focus on QUALITY > Performance. I would take 10.2 and quality over 12 and broke. It will perform better than double but you can't claim it since its difficult to quantify and will depend on the game.
If XSX is less than 12 RDNA TF's then Phil was being dishonest. In a couple of months we'll find out the truth.
He lives!Impressive speculation/logic/deduction.
I think you guys will like the Series X specs, once they're released.
He lives!
I’m liking the more confident/aggressive approach you guys are taking! Can you comment on a potential reveal event prior to E3...?
