Xbox July event thread

Outside of big brands, Japan hasn’t done much to produce quality titles in years.
Again, you are welcome to share some with us. Until then I will take adverse inference from it.
Well its hard to do that because you say big brands so that is pretty subjective and I have to make certain assumptions about what you think is big so I would say stuff like
Nier
Nioh
Persona
Yakuza
Pretty clearly high quality games
Never thought they looked interesting personally. I tried out Nier since they added it to Game Pass. I was not impressed by it. May go back to it to see if there is more there, but not hopeful. Probably give Yakuza a try as well to see if it is something special.
I love watching anime; I just wish Japan put out more compelling videogames that were fun to play.
I know the real reason why you like Nier

To piggy back off of you, some quality not big brands out of Japan off the top of my head:
Valkyria Chronicles
Disgaea 5
Ni No Kuni
Any Fire Emblem
Any game in The Legend of Heroes series
There are a ton of quality games coming out of Japan. If they interest you personally, is a whole 'nother story.
The last part of your last sentence describes my tastes. Lol
But that’s what’s great about Sony and even Nintendo. There’s a big market there. It’s just not my cup of tea.
I liked it better in the old days when Japanese games were Ghouls and Ghosts, Contra, Gunstar Heroes and Castlevania.
Tomonobu Itagaki got fired/quit. And from that point Team Ninja's relationship with xbox went right out the window.
Whether I or any other person find them interesting is the only story actually. What about them makes them quality games?
